It’s amazing how far you’ve come in a few short years. You’re far more comfortable in your videos nowadays than here. Now I just need to find a #29 or two to add to my collection.
I've got two 17s at work that don't have keys. We suspected they were keyed alike. You can't disassemble the 17s so I had to pick it, not too difficult. Then I brought up the space and depth info and basically read by feel what each pin was when the lock was open and the pins were hard up against the inside of the cylinder. One successful key. The other lock is damaged though sadly, I've still not managed to pick it. I used the same method for a customer's lock. I was proud of that one because the senior locksmith said he would not have even taken the job. Thanks to yourself and Bill, I'm off to a flying start in my apprenticeship.
Even a blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then. To be fair, there are some ok locks in the lineup, mostly in the pro series... The ones where you can use your own core! Merry Christmas!
Of course a good lock from master lock and they don't make it anymore. They obviously didn't make enough money on it. Master don't care about quality, only $$$$$$$.
Master cop a lot of flak, especially from sport pickers, and most of it is deserved. The bean counters at Master seem to think that cheap and cheaper is the way to go. We use the Master Pro series, and fit BiLock cylinders etc. in the shielded shackle version. It seems that the lower priced padlocks with the 4 pin cylinders, could use some improvements ... Enjoyed the video, and the "Yale" profile is not the easiest, it would have to be ( with slight variations ) the most prolific of profiles - you made it look easy.Regards, Brian.
Thanks... And I agree about a few of the pro series locks. In fact, the door to my shed sports a kik pro series with a nasty core I pinned up myself. With a bilock and shielded shackle, I bet it's a formidable lock!
Yes, the 19 is the biggest; I have read it is two pounds ten ounces, but I have not weighed it. (I only now thought of taking it to the scale at the stupormarket!) The body is three inches wide, two and three eighths tall. Half inch (1.2 cm) shackle. 1.5 inch shackle clearance. I am measuring these as I type them! Shackle height 1.5 inches in center, the curvature is very close to zero at three quarter inches above the body. The bitting looks like 0.015 taller than a Schlage blank, same length, six pins. My key gauges are stashed somewhere, but if it were a Schlage, I would figure the bitting as 053859, somewhat aggressive. Opening the lock is easy; locking it less so. Turning the key is needed for me to lock it, but the lock is key-retaining, so the key is readily available. Way back when, I bought both a 21 and a 27. These were rekeyable. The 21 is in Master’s current catalogue, the 27 is not. The 21 was a number 1, basically. The 27 had a very thick shackle, was the size (as I recall) of a 5. It had a five-pin cylinder, using the M27 keyway (what a surprise). There was an adapter to use an M1 cylinder in the 27. I have used/played with/installed/rekeyed Master products since I was six years old. That amounts to a little over six decades. Thanks to people using eBay, I have locks older than I, including a brand new Master #5 with the nickel-silver keys. Everyone will be surprised, I expect, to learn the lions on the M7 and M1 keys are different. There seem to be a few poses, actually. I enjoy watching your videos as much as I like keys and keying mechanisms. The actual locking parts are somewhat less interesting to me, as I am an electronics person, not a mechanics person-anything beyond a door-lock is beyond my skill set.
+JB Thanks for watching. I didn't meant to imply that padlocks capable of being keyed to a normal door lock keys were unusual... Master even makes a few of them now. I've just never seen this particular lock, or that capability in a laminated padlock.
you could have friendly competition between others with a lock like this , using it like a challenge lock and having each competitor put their own spin on it and seeing how well each one pins/ pick each others creation .
+Peter M Agreed... To be fair, there's some newer Pro Series locks that have similar capabilities (though, not with the larger format KIK capability), but I like this one better!
+TheMorePerfectWay Thanks. FYI - Master does have a few pro series locks that have similar capabilities... though they will not accept these large format KIK cylinders.
The comment I have is: That's bad ass! I've seen big Master locks before, but I had no idea some were made for KiKs. What do you think the weight is on that, LPL? I love picking padlocks, but I have a number of KiK cylinders. It would be cool to have one like this to use as a picking platform for those.
I'm surprised that this only has 100 comments. Well this is one of your older videos. And only 600 likes! Wow. Compare that to some of your newer videos. God.
+hellslave No, they are very hard to pick... like a medeco, but with a very restrictive keyway and warding. VERY nasty lock. I may attempt it at some point, but probably not soon.
Great master lock - lots of nice properties. What was that lock with the crazy key? Never heard of EMHARD. Why does the key have this saw teeth on the back? Very nice video as always. Happy Christmas :-)
The Emhart is very cool. The top and bottom pins lock together with a dovetail that only releases if the pin is rotated to the proper angle (like a Medeco). The cuts in the bottom are needed so the key doesn't bump the dovetail.
+Papa Gleb I'll give you a heads up if I see one at a good price on eBay... they're almost always available at $35-$55, but you need to be patient for a deal. I got this one for $14 + shipping.
very nice lock and nice picking it's a shame they don't make locks like this anymore the emhart are nice locks it will make this lock even more secure have you picked the emhart yet?
+Javid Patel Thanks. I have not even attempted the Emhart yet... too many other nasty locks for me to work on without beating up on a discontinued gem like that.
I ordered one of eBay and it doesn't have the Cam so I'm not going to be able to put it together... I was wondering if you know of a web site that might tell how to make one thanks.
+Iggy Mac Not a chance! I was waiting for the right deal on this guy for a couple months. They are almost always in ebay at $35-$55... but if you want a good price, you need patience.
I just got one of these locks in the mail yesterday!! It DOESN'T have that metal actuator with the spring that goes on the back of the core. I would like to put a Medeco core in mine. Which would you suggest? The core you put in yours is awesome! I am not quite sure how long of a core I can put in there, or where I can get that part mine was missing.
+Jeremy H. I've heard that before... no idea where to get one. I'm out of town now, but I'll measure for you. If I forget, don't hesitate to ask again.
Thanks! Sorry to bother you about that. You're one of the few people I know that actually has one that knows what it is. Enjoy your time out of town! Hopefully it's not work related haha.
I've been binge watching this guy's videos for days. It's so impressive how easy he makes this stuff look.
Thanks. 👍
It’s amazing how far you’ve come in a few short years. You’re far more comfortable in your videos nowadays than here. Now I just need to find a #29 or two to add to my collection.
Gotta come back to the beginning. Love seeing where you are today, picked my first lock today. Thank you LPL

wow master lock actually made 1 decent lock. merry Christmas!
Even a blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then. To be fair, there are some ok locks in the lineup, mostly in the pro series... The ones where you can use your own core! Merry Christmas!
To be fair Master Lock can make a great physical body to put a core in. They just have a habit of putting bad corse in good bodies.
@@Bigal3031 precisely
You do a fantastic job on your videos, a pleasure to watch ;-)
+LDU2U Thank you very much! Comments like this keep me motivated to produce more videos.
Of course a good lock from master lock and they don't make it anymore. They obviously didn't make enough money on it. Master don't care about quality, only $$$$$$$.
It has an interchangeable core, while master makes decent lock bodies the cores are shit.
Master cop a lot of flak, especially from sport pickers, and most of it is deserved. The bean counters at Master seem to think that cheap and cheaper is the way to go. That’s the perfect training lock body. Thanks.
excellent video with commentary thanks, and Yale keyways so so tight!!
Thanks.

Love your channel you deserve every view you get
Well picked and good explanation, I liked the look of the lock you were going to be replacing it with,
+LockSportSco Thanks... and Emharts are really cool. Wish they still made them.
nice lock !! another great video and another awesome lock !! Merry Christmas! !!
+Lukes Locks Thanks... and Merry Christmas to you and yours as well.
buen trabajo. me encantan esos candados. feliz navidad UN SALUDO
Gracias. Feliz navidad!
Nice looking lock. Seems to pick like all Master locks.
+Texas Jim Thanks... but at least it isn't Master Lock's fault this time. In any case, this lock considerably more secure now!
I seen a brinks padlock yesterday on ebay that came with a sack of extra key pins so you can use your old door key in the padlock
+JB Thanks for watching. I didn't meant to imply that padlocks capable of being keyed to a normal door lock keys were unusual... Master even makes a few of them now. I've just never seen this particular lock, or that capability in a laminated padlock.
LPL sounds like he did a couple shots on Nyquil before shooting this video.
you could have friendly competition between others with a lock like this , using it like a challenge lock and having each competitor put their own spin on it and seeing how well each one pins/ pick each others creation .
+charlie perry Do you mean like the challenge locks that we regularly circulate?
yea. I see You guys that do challenge locks.I though it would be a cool thing if you all got together to do something like that.
Great OLD Master lock!
+Peter M Agreed... To be fair, there's some newer Pro Series locks that have similar capabilities (though, not with the larger format KIK capability), but I like this one better!
Cool lock. They should have done the 930 like this.
+TheMorePerfectWay Thanks. FYI - Master does have a few pro series locks that have similar capabilities... though they will not accept these large format KIK cylinders.

Thanks. No idea of the weight. Maybe 2 pounds. Just guessing. I'm not near the lock now.
I'm surprised that this only has 100 comments. Well this is one of your older videos.

cool padlock!!! I put a assa twin in a medeco padlock!!!
+Hugo Martel Thanks... that's like putting a Ferrari engine in a Lamborghini. This is like putting a Ferrari engine in an old Ford F150.
LOL lambo really nead new engine LOL!!!
I have been looking for this lock both in media and for sale. Do you remember where you found one for sale?
Have you done a video on that Emhart yet? If not, I'd love to see one!
+hellslave No, they are very hard to pick... like a medeco, but with a very restrictive keyway and warding. VERY nasty lock. I may attempt it at some point, but probably not soon.
No need to do a picking video on it, just a discussion about it, is all.
+hellslave perhaps. Not really my bag to talk about locks I can't pick, but I'll think about it.
A good Master Lock? 😲
Who are you, and what have you done with LockPickingLawyer?😧
Great master lock - lots of nice properties. What was that lock with the crazy key? Never heard of EMHARD. Why does the key have this saw teeth on the back? Very nice video as always. Happy Christmas :-)
The Emhart is very cool. The top and bottom pins lock together with a dovetail that only releases if the pin is rotated to the proper angle (like a Medeco). The cuts in the bottom are needed so the key doesn't bump the dovetail.
+LockPickingLawyer That's cool - thanks for the info.
+Potti314 To get a better look, check out the cut away Emhart on ebay right now. Great pictures showing how this works.
You said it excepts any key in knob cylinder ,I notice the core end is different than a normal core ,is it a special order
oh man I had no idea master laminated had KIK padlock. Damn now I want one too lol
+Papa Gleb I'll give you a heads up if I see one at a good price on eBay... they're almost always available at $35-$55, but you need to be patient for a deal. I got this one for $14 + shipping.
+LockPickingLawyer it's very tempting, you could put different cores to practice on very easily...
Nice one!
Thank you.
Wow, very cool!
+Stefan Dembowski THanks.
What the hell happened to the Master Lock company...at one point they produced some nice locks!
Cant wait to see you put the emhart in it thats going to be a badass lock!
very nice lock and nice picking
it's a shame they don't make locks like this anymore
the emhart are nice locks it will make this lock even more secure
have you picked the emhart yet?
+Javid Patel Thanks. I have not even attempted the Emhart yet... too many other nasty locks for me to work on without beating up on a discontinued gem like that.
Is it ok if we do a trade after New year I have some high security euros you will like

+jimu57 Yup. Merry Christmas. I wish you the best (especially improved heath) in the New Year.
Thanks. I feel a great year coming on. Hope yours is great as well.
LockPickingLawyer - We could all use some improved heath.
Wait... a good Master lock?
Wow LPL had vice that up. He doesn't do that, especially lately
This is an early vid and you sound very sad for some reason lol
jobustify - I noticed that too, like he had a cold or was under the weather or something!
do you think everything in his house is locked?
tap able with out the ball bearings?
Yes sell me that lock !! Nice
+Iggy Mac Not a chance! I was waiting for the right deal on this guy for a couple months. They are almost always in ebay at $35-$55... but if you want a good price, you need patience.
lol Was worth a shot asking haha
I so happen to buy a #29 from a friend today for $5. Do you happen to know the true value of the lock?
jtb - sounds like about five bucks.

Hi Mr LPL. Not to nag, but would you still be able to get the measurements of that cylinder extension? If you're busy, I completely understand.
Anyone know what that tool is exactly called at 4:30 for removing c clips. All I can find are automotive clip removers when I search online ugh.
Peter O - Lock core C-clip remover.
He likes a Master lock? 😮
Hi, have you one MasterLock #19 ?
+Den Brass Yes, but I obtained it after making this video.
And you open that ?
+Den Brass I have before, but it is not easy. The keyway is very difficult on that lock.
yess i try it but .... and is so huge in hand for picking
That retaining plate looks like it's made of die-cast zinc :-(
Technically, your channel exists because people take things which don't belong to them.
This guy has the power to break into a house but he doesnt respect
