This is a TAP/TAS showcasing how fast sonic can really be in Brawl Minus. I had to cut out the intro where I boot up the game and select the characters because it kept making my video editor glitch up and render the video incorrectly. I will try to see if I can release the full raw video, but for now just take my word on it, ok? ;)

This is a Tool Assisted Playthrough. Normally called Tool-Assised Speedruns, these types of videos revolve around playing a game slowed down to a point where the user can advance frame-by-frame. TAS/TAP videos are typically made to entertain viewers with gameplay that would otherwise be virtually impossible with human stamina and foresight. They can also be used to showcase a theoretically perfect speedrun of a game would look like, or in this case, show off how much potential a character can have. In a sense, it is made similarly to how an animated cartoon is made.
I will be using this disclaimer from now on if I ever make another TAS/TAP because there are many misconceptions about them and I want them to be addressed.
I am not officially associated with or endorsed by the Brawl Minus Development team. I am just someone who likes the game.

Can we take a sec to recognize how dangerous Sonic would be at full power? I'm not sure even how the Smash universe could handle someone who moves faster than sound!
Well Dedede moves at lightspeed+ in canon, so I'm sure he'd be okay.
If he was serious and always stayed focused he'd be hard to hit since he has really fast reflexes since he runs really fast. Spoiler for Sonic Mania below.
In the final boss battle Classic Sonic is affected by the gem's time warping effects however once he becomes Super Sonic he can move around freely and even then creates afterimages. This puts Classic Sonic at least 999.9r x slower than the speed of time (using the fan multiplier of 1000x for Super forms) btw that's lowballing it.
Now Modern Sonic is indeed faster than Classic Sonic and gets stronger and faster every time he uses his Super form. His reaction time would be godly if he is capable of running at such speeds. Dedede ain't got nothing on that.
I haven't gotten into Archie Sonic since he already moved freely in a literal time stopping attack.

Thanks! Sonic is actually pretty tricky to master imo. You would have to have godly reflexes to time some of these moves.

When I clicked the video, I kind of expected the comment section to be all "ACKCHYUALLY, this isn't even 0.0000000000000001% of Sonic's base speed. Sonic outran like 4 solar systems in Sonic Colors and the Archie comics proved that he could outrun the multiverse." Not getting that this was just a cool video and not a Death Battle analysis. Glad to know not everybody's like that.

The fastest that Sonic can go in Unleashed is 3,519 SPD. This means that Sonic's top speed is (based on statistical measurement) 6,051,022,551 mph (9,738,181,485 kph) or a little over 9 times the speed of light. And Super Sonic is way way WAY faster than that.
