- Hello my frugal friends! This is the first week of back to school lunches for us. This is the real lunches that my kids are taking to school and also what Dave is taking to work. I love how your son asked when lunchboxes go on sale next when you asked him if he wants one. You are teaching your children good money habits which will carry them through life. Did I hear right when you said "home made canned pears"? you actually have found time in your busy life to do some home canning?
Also consider getting multilayered bento boxes for Hailey. She might need 1 for school lunch and 1 for after school.
Invest in reusable plastic bags! I found some cute ones for $5 at home goods. They come in a set with 2 sandwich bags and 2 snack bags. You just wash them and let them dry and re use them.

You could always cut the sandwiches and the fruit so they would fit better in the containers you had.

Yum! I'm excited about my kids new schools because EVERY kid in this county gets free breakfast and lunch, no questions asked and they offer healthy meals so I don't feel bad about it at all! ❤

My husband and I found meal prep containers at Wal-Mart on clearance for $3.50 for a 5 pack we bought 2 packs (this was back in June) wish we would have gotten more. They are so convenient for lunches. Or bento boxes are nice too.
If you are able, sams club sells "take out" containers which are reusable and ive found are perfect for meal prep! Its a pack of 25 for under 10$!

Love the striped/flowered top! My lunch packing is similar, slightly different for each kid. I make a big pot of soup on the weekend for hubby to take to work for the week and just pack extras each day!
Yummboxes are expensive, but they don't leak, the compartments are leakproof and they are durable. We've had ours for 4 years, packing lunches every day.
That was fun! I like that it’s not the same thing everyday. And Ryan is so cute!
I love how real you are. I have no kids and I'm single, but I myself am very frugal and its oddly satisfying to see all these meals you create on a small budget.
One east switch is waxed paper for wrapping instead of plastic.

Agree with everyone who said the Sistema containers are great! There was an Ibotta rebate with them a couple weeks ago, and I got several for 99cents each:) I was hoping the rebate would reset so I could pick up a couple more. Bento boxes are an absolute god send. They keep things separate and are pre portioned to what we should be eating and keeps them cold or hot.
You can put the pastries in cupcake cups (reusable silicone will save you some cash), butcher's paper/wax paper, cheese paper..that sort of thing. You can even get a huge roll of brown paper super cheap online and cut it to size all at once
Great lunch ideas! We use goodbyn or sistema containers. It keeps their food separate and only two pieces to wash.

Look up sistema bento box to go. We bought on for my daughter's lunch box. It works great. And nothing leaks.

I understand using the Walmart bags. I used to do that in high school, too because I hated a lunch box. But maybe but a cheap reusable bag or tote bag? It could fit in a backpack or be as easy to carry and better than throwing away plastic bags.

Easy lunch boxes are great and inexpensive. We have them for school and work lunches. You can also get snack ones so can pack a lunch and a snack one for Hailey.

I love that you shop at discount store. We do too and the chocolate on the candy bars most usually is misshapen but doesn't hurt the taste. Lol
I'm a pretty big fan of chickpeas in soup and I remember trying to make some of coconut milk a while ago but the dried ones have never been a big thing for me

Sometimes I use small Tupperware inside a bigger Tupperware so things don’t get wet. Even the kind with compartments get wet, and I use the real deal Tupperware so I found putting the smaller inside works best.

I use a collection of different plastic containers. I find that the food just never fits in the bento type ones. We even have tiny ones that fit inside others to keep thing separate and dry. Your place reminds me of our lunches.

I use the Tupperware (the actual brand ones) boxes with sections that have divisors. They are a little more expensive although they do go on sale about once a year. They have a life time guarantee but I’ve never had to replace them. They have been going strong for years and years.
Stistema (I think that is the brand) has a great all in one plastic container that might work well. It has a compartment for a sandwich on one side that closes and then the other side has two areas then the whole thing folds in half to snap together. I bought it at Walmart.

Fab fit has containers that seperates .. foods for my kids i took the better route i used sauce cups from stores that came from various places like subway those small containers i put pickles or sauce in it .. then i used the snap and lock containers for sandwhiches.. if larger like vegetables they have snap and lock containers at walmart all fits in a lunch box
Fab fit has good containers .. I get the condiment cups with lids at Qt gas station I get 6 at a time. U can put the mayonaise from home in there or mustard anything really or pickles ..i how ever always used the containers that locked on each side .. it holds out moisture and from getting wet its also cheaper to buy a block of cheese and slice it
Hey I just started watching your channel. I don’t know if you’ve figured it out yet but just in case I’ll tell you what I use for my kiddo. I pack her lunch everyday. I’m really big into bento box lunches. I have several lunches boxes/bags. So to keep everything from touching I use silicone cupcake/muffin liners. They have several different sizes and shapes. It’s pretty fun and colorful. My kiddo really enjoys opening lunch a mess free meal. Lol
If stuff won't fit in tubs just wrap it in tin foil then you can stick it in the recycling after!
How crazy is it that I have a freshman named Haylee on the volleyball team as well?! She’s gone from 6:45am-5 on practice days (2:15-5 practice) or until who knows when on game nights. LOL! I thought that was so funny too! My Hailey has her first volleyball games tonight so we won't see her until after 8:30!!! 8am - 8:30pm?? What a long day for those kids!

I use Planet box for my husband and he loves it! He even gets compliments. It's pricey but very well made. I don't know that I would trust kids but maybe your husband? As for the kids - we use to use - just the bento boxes and a lunch box make to fit them. Your kids are adorable!

I use to take lunch box during my school years..way healthier n yummy n can save a lot n no need to que at the cafe(20min break to eat is too hard) My fav meal vary from assorted fritters, sandwiches, beef pies , fried noodles & fried rice. All in tupperware & My mum was a working mom. Ha ha nowadays even my nephews asking me to pack them lunch box when i'm around. Cute. Btw bfast n lunch box will b the same. Easy stuff
Protein suggestion for lunch boxes. Sliced ham and cheese rollup, chicken legs, Turkey lunch meat rolled around a cheese stick, ground beef mixed with salsa and Sr. Cream include corn chips for dipping, chopped leftover chicken,grated cheese wrapped in tortilla. Your lunches are a little heavy on sugar and grains. Don't save all the good stuff only for dinner.
I really enjoyed this video and it gives me great ideas because I have highschoolers as well and they do sports and music and drama so they’re all over the place and it gives me ideas to give them healthy snacks and away to pack it

Good job. A lot of parents over pack for their kids. People can usually only eat as much food as the size of their fist. Being that kids are smaller, they eat less good job.
There’s a sandwich hold that hold hold sandwich on one side. And there’s a compartment of two on the other side and it folds together to act like a cube. If you watch this is how we Bingham a couple days ago Mindy showed it if you packing for kids lunch. You can get it at Walmart. I have one for work and I love it

Try using the silicon cupcake things and put a paper towel over the top and it may keep things in their place

My daughter eats the same ammount of food as your daughter except she's 5. And she's a thin girl. Not an athlete (yet) either. To me your kids are small eaters. No wonder I spend so much on groceries 😆 love your channel!!

Systema containers last years! As far as completely LEAK PROOF bentos I would look into the brand YumBox. I've seen people pour applesauce in one compartment and bread right next to that with no problems. You can find different size YumBoxes for the whole family. I think your lunches are great!😊

I bought amazon reusable washable bags. It’s a lot of rinsing our daily but it totally eliminated are plastic bag Usage. I only have one box for when people come over and I don’t want to give them a nice silicone ones. But they really are amazing. I bought like a 10 pack of Amazon for 19 bucks. Normally I buy a giant one for Costco for about 19 box of Ziploc’s about every three to six months. So it saved a lot of money.
