Problem 1- the engine is a derivative of the new truck engine that has so far been completely reliable since 2019. Should be better than the V6 in every way.
Problem 2- its a new vehicle- there's no reason to think HVAC problems are any more or less likely than with anything else new.
Problem 3- You're either ok or not ok with new GM interiors, but it won't surprise you.

The Interior looks more luxurious and expensive than previous years

Mark these words. This new engine will be unreliable as the majority of all turbo engines, rather owners not knowing turbo engines require stricter maintenance as compared to naturally aspirated engines. They should have upgraded the transmission and not the engine. A 3.6 paired with a 4l80e would be a dream Traverse

I purchased this vehicle in May. So far, it is a very comfortable ride. We went on a road trip, and it is great on gas. Time will tell, but the vehicle so far is living up to the hype.

Just read an article today from GM AUTHORITY that GM has revised the HP and torque numbers to 328 and 326 respectively, up from the 315 HP and 317torque.

Looks like those figures are now on Chevrolet’s official website for the traverse as well.

I really don’t see any problem (s). That should be a good engine. It’s an inline 4 cylinder., and Iam guessing it’s closely related to the 2.7 inline 4 in the Silverado/ Colorado., which seems to be a solid engine., it’s been out since 2019. From what I’ve seen in videos the interior looks like they did a good job. (It’s not a Cadillac). The new 8 speed should be a good one. Iam pretty sure all the problems they had with the previous 8 speed were enough to make sure they got this one right. It’s true only time will tell, but with a crowded competition in this segment, I bet this Traverse will be a good choice. I would give it a A without even driving one yet.

Rather have a V6 Not a fan of any turbo engine cars unless there is no turbo lag at all.

This motor is in its 4th year with GM , even powering the 1500 Silverado and has won over a lot of skeptics . It has a low inertia turbo , thus virtually zero lag , you’d be hard pressed to guess it was a turbo if no one told you initially. It also is more powerful and quieter than the v6 it replaces .

Different transmissions in the 2023 versus the 2024 (9-speed vs 8-speed). Transmission reliability in past models is irrelevant unless you have data on the 8-speed in other models.

All chevy traverse will eventually get engine timing chain error code. Cost to replace timing chain is $5500 to $6500.
I will never by GMC or Chevy with VVT engine (variable valve timing).
Ford engines also have the infamous ticking sound after your first oil change and the dealer will pretend they never heard of it.

    • @mrBDeye
      @mrBDeye 5 місяців тому +3

@sansinutube I appreciate your suggestion. However, a factory drive train warranty is upto 36,000 miles. Some owners can put on miles in 2 years. While your idea seems smart, for the owner to trade or sell after 2 years is a loss. Why do that when it would be simpler to avoid and not purchase a car with VVT engine in the first place. Thus my warning above to people who don’t know about this issue. The timing chain stretches at 45k miles and the actuators fail if oil is not changed in time or level is slightly low.

I feel so burned by the arcadia /traverse engines that I can't even consider giving GMC another chance 🥴 4 cylinders suck also because they rely on clutch plates to keep from stalling.

4 cylinder turbo? No thanks. A lot of money for a vehicle that will probably give you less than 150 thousand miles out of it.

Your feedback is valued! The 4-cylinder turbo certainly has its supporters and critics. It's all about finding the right fit for one's driving habits and expectations.

Might have to wait another twelve months to get serious about this one. I wonder about a 4-banger's harsh engine noise and fuel mileage maybe being less than the old V6 which wasn't the greatest. The 2024 Buick retains the 3.6 V6, but also retains its older technology.

That 4 banger is loud coarse and unrefined. It doesn't feel like 328 Horsepower. Drive it back to back with a Palisade Caligraphy or a Grand Highlander.

I agree, I’m just a skeptic of the Hyundai / Kia motors as the number of failures have been astronomical . The video is incorrect that this is a new engine - the 2.5 turbo in the new traverse is now in its 4th year with gm , even powering bigger vehicles such as the Silverado and has proven to be very reliable and significantly quieter and more powerful than the v6 .

Ehhhh...it's an okay model. Just doesn't look or feel right in my eye. Too many zonk here and there and very out of place. The outside looks good, the peppy little motor just doesn't feel like it's suited for an suv. The V6 would've been the better choice engine with a little tweak here and there to give it that OOMPH would be a big improvement in the performance overall. As for the ridiculous over-sized infotainment display. It just just too big that could've been shrunk down to an 8" or 10" screen at max with a bezeless to give it that nice premium look overall.

    • @chuckback73

The v6 is gone in most SUV’s like the Toyota highlander and the tundra is not to far away from 4 cylinder turbo. I don’t think these are valid reasons really to not buy the vehicle.

This was the weakest and most negative vehicle review, I have ever seen.
Every vehicle has a something that goes wrong and that is (FOR ALL MANUFACTURERS). It was very disingenuous to open up this poorly made review in the fashion, in which you have done. ("THUMBS DOWN")!!! I will never watch another review from this channel.
