  • Middle eastern style charred street style corn with tahini sauce, figs with lebneh cheese, sesame seeds, sweet carob molasses and olive oil, flash fried winter squash with brown butter labneh-- Chef Samir and I sample some of his most beautiful dishes from his restaurant called Beit Rima, one of the most innovative restaurants in the foodie capital of San Francisco! My father and his family are all from ramullah. I always laugh when I see grape leaves that don't have beef and stewed with tomatoes. Or when I eat most hummus I just can't believe how awful they are. The figs he mentioned efinently brought back memories if palestine

To take the origins of a traditional recipe and infuse it with creativity, while keeping the spirit of the dish intact. To keep the essence of the flavors but make it taste new, is an art. I have been to Israel several times and have come to know the hospitality and food of Arabs there. It is truly something special. Thanks for showcasing Samir and his restaurant. I cant wait to visit!

Beit Rima’s food brings me back some wonderful memories. I didn’t realize that Palestinian food is so similar to Lebanese food. I got to discover Middle Eastern food in Lebanon during my Erasmus year at the American University of Beirut about ten years ago. What to say, it was a revelation for a Norwegian who knew little about the sophisticated and rich Middle Eastern history. I’ll never forget that year in Lebanon and their unparalleled food.
