      And trust me, I didn't want to mess with it but it got messed up and I couldn't figure out why it wasn't setting rhe antireverse. So I actually took the chance of disassembling the roller clutch and managed (by the grace of God alone) to get it reassembled correctly. But it took some real looking around to understand it.

    I had problem after cleaning and greasing the reel. It became much harder to crank forward, reverse cranking is ok. I feel there is something wrong between the pinion gear and main gear. But I could not see anything wrong there. You mentioned you also had issue with pinion gear and replaced it. Maybe I am having the same problem. Nice video.

    • @WhereWeWild
      @WhereWeWild  4 місяці тому +1

      Thanks 👊🏽 Sorry to hear that. I’d make sure that the main gear and pinion gear are sat all the way down in the reel and that all the gears are meshing together nicely. Also check all the gear teeth to make sure nothing is broken. Make sure the main bearing is pressed all the way down in around the pinion gear. Check that all the bearings are running smooth. I only use oil on the bearings, I clean all the grease off of them, and then just very little blue reel grease on the gears. Putting too much can make it heavy and slow. There could be a few different things causing that so just take your time, inspect all the parts, follow the video or schematic and make sure everything is in the correct position and sat all the way in. There should be a fairly obvious reason why it’s hard to reel, you’ll find it. 😉🤙🏽

      @@WhereWeWildFinally I fixed the problem. I removed the grease from the pinion gear and main gear, cleaned them, and applied OIL only, then the problem is gone. • @DunkMasterFlex
    @DunkMasterFlex Рік тому

    Damn I hope I didn't ruin my reel... It was working perfectly, but while I was doing maintenance on another reel I decided I'd drop a few drops of oil on the handle shaft to make it feel extra smooth... Within a few minutes I realized some sand or fine grit dirt got into the internal of the reel, causing it to make a quiet rough sound whenever turned under pressure. In my haste to fix it I took it apart without watching any videos because I've worked on a couple reels before (never a spinning reel), and had it in pieces all over my table. I got the side panel cover off and turned it a few times to see how it worked, and without knowing, the knob on the oscillating gear slipped from under the sliding shaft (the other shaft slid out the bottom silently on to my work area and allowed the knob to slip out). In my frustration I just put it back together, and after a few rough cranks it stopped completely. I was super pissed. After watching this video I realize how dumb of a mistake I made and was thinking absent-mindedly because of my frustration. I have it back apart today, wish me luck that I didn't completely shred something on the inside...

    • @WhereWeWild
      @WhereWeWild  Рік тому

      Ahhhh man I’m sorry. Hopefully it’s not too bad… there is definitely a learning curve when you start taking these reels apart and each one is a little different so there is some trial an error for sure. I have a couple Siennas for a few years now, but in the last year, the bail arm refuses to close tight. I've tried changing the spring, shimmying the spring with a tiny piece of cardboard/plastic, and greasing it, but nothing will bring the "snap" back to the bail arm when closing. I have to manually close it after a cast, and then again after, pressing it down on it again to help seat the line properly. I had it for a year and fished it hard during the Covid lockdown. Now I just bought a couple 1000 sedona, and heard someone saying the same thing occurs to the sedona. Any thoughts as to why? or how to fix it?

    • @WhereWeWild
      @WhereWeWild  Рік тому +1

      Hmmm you know I rarely mess with the bail when taking apart spinning reels to be honest with you. I’ve taken them apart a few times though and those springs can be really tricky to get back on right, I just usually put a few drops of oil on the hinges and line roller and move on. A lot of these bails seem to only want to snap closed on their own from a certain position which I find really odd, but sometimes also dirt or sand can get in there if you place your reel on the ground while tying on a new bait or something. If you hear any crunching or scraping going on when opening and closing the bail obviously that’s when you have to really rip it apart and clean it out. Wish I could see the reel in person haha I’d have a better idea I’m sorry, but I guess just make sure there is no dirt or sand, make sure it’s not overly packed with grease on the inside, and double check the schematic to make sure everything is where it needs to be.

      Hmmm… do you fish salt water or fresh water? Sounds like some serious corrosion. Definitely spray it and soak in some WD40. That should loosen up anything that’s in there and might have to put some serious pressure on it to pull it apart. It’s hard to know exactly without the reel in front of me ya know, but hopefully that WD40 will do its thing so you can pull it off.

    • @WhereWeWild
      @WhereWeWild  4 місяці тому

      Hmmm that seems odd. 🤔 On both reels too? Seems unlikely for 2 reels to have the same problem like that. I’d have to look at them to know for sure, but just make sure everything is put together correctly if they were taken apart. Make sure all the washers and stuff are in the right place and everything is sat down flush in the spool and on the shaft. Curious how easy the line pulls off when the knob is tight enough to fix the problem. Do you wash off the old oils for new to be put on 🧐 oil will start getting thicker and thicker and turn hard to move it. If you just whipping will only do so much. try out using mineral spirits to clean 🪥 then oil. If it has plastic bearings is the same thing. Old stuff I'm trying to figure out.

    • @WhereWeWild
      @WhereWeWild  4 місяці тому

      Yeah if they are really really old and dirty can use the mineral spirits like you said, acetone works well, rubbing alcohol, simple green, they even sell cleaners specifically just for bearings. Have to take off the seals, soak them, can vibrate them to make it faster, then have to dry them over night or with an air compressor… takes some time haha but it’s definitely good to completely clean or even replace them every once in awhile. 👍🏽

  • @jasonlopez4855

    The bearings are seld up so dirt don't get in it. And is hard to put oil back in beside trying to clean 🪥 theme. If you soak up theme over night in oil maybe 🤔 if it doesn't have a cover you can take off like the Swiss bearings to clean out the dirt. I never put oil on gear ⚙️ only grease and oil is not grease.
