Great video! Would have been nice to see some of my fellow brothers and sisters veterans enjoying their meals but I'll take whatever I can get. Thank you GUGA...and everyone else involved on this special task.
Kalispell will be my retirement home in a few years, there's just something about that state that feels like HOME. The people I meet there, the food, the SKY, just amazing, I got to travel the world thanks to my years in the Army, and Montana has always been at the top of my list. Awesome job Guga, truly a once in a lifetime experience and for a damn good cause as well. Knowing that bison went to feed veterans in need makes me proud as hell.
Now, seriously, I’ve been saying this for years: we NEED a collab between Guga and the Bearded Butchers. Bison is their expertise. Imagine how even cooler this video could’ve been. Come on, Guga, make it happen.
@engmed4400 yes they did I'm wondering if who came first the cow or the bison. That's why I think they won't do a collaboration because they're both in competitive nature with each other
As an avid hunter this is great. I feel like harvesting and butchering your own game gives you a deeper respect for both the animals and all that's involved with the process.
I haven't had the chance to hunt yet, but I have culled and processed my own chickens and rabbits for food. Definitely gives you a deeper respect for the life you are taking.
It's how mankind harvested it's meat for millennia until the Industrial Revolution allowed us to disassociate with the process of harvesting. Personally, I've never harvested any meat personally, but I'd cull a chicken or a rabbit just to say I did it, and to give respect to the meal by which I worked for.
I haven’t hunted, in part because obtaining a hunting license in my country is very difficult, in part because my health doesn’t allow for it. But I do take on the work that comes after the hunt: butchering, preserving and cooking. And I’ve harvested my share of domestic meat. You’re right! It gives you an entirely different perspective. It gives you more respect for where your protein comes from. A creature gave its life to sustain you and that means not wasting even a snippet, and preparing it well. By extension I don’t waste grain or vegetables either. And when you respect your food, might as well make it taste good.
It's awesome that there are channels with huge followings that not only promote hunting, but talk about the positive impact it actually has, when done respectfully of course.
Hi Guga, please dry age in edible dirt/clay. It would be so interesting to see what tones and flavours it would give the meat! This is the 156th time asking btw.
