There are 100's of parameters that go into acoustics and music reproduction, from first recording the voice/instrument through to end user product choice and room acoustics to materials used in various components, again from mic choice at the point of recording, to end user and respective environment. To claim one parameter is better than another without counting the myriad of other fundamental factors, is nonsense!
thats an absolutely flawless setup. Best 7" driver in existence with an Illuminator tweeter driven by Krell amplication. You definitely knew what your buying!!
He is using ScanSpeak Illuminator D3004/6620-00 for the high end, amazing ! Of coarse, he has a great source & very high end krell amplification to suit.
I have revelators in my car and sb acustics with them. but one day I hope to have a setup in house that at least has nice drivers like this. the only way I can describe the speakers you have are: articulate and accurate reproduction of sound. love it
Kind of odd the materials alone for mine with the same speakers were 1.5k. The tweeters run $232 each and the woofer we used at 7' was $325 each. Then you add up the crossover, box and materials. These sound better to me than the B&W 805 though.
I was not able to find the crossover you had shared before. If you have the plans or ideas you based the build, that you can share or let me know where to find will really help.
You're probably right there, about placing 300hz and down. I just ment for the untrained ear, like most of us have:D i for one, cant really place 200hz and down. And yes, suv in the middle of the room might not be the best. If you want to, you can always PM me, im intrested in learning, and i would love to hear your theories:D Have a nice day
Every one is talking how good his setup is (surely), has any one thought how good the mic in his camera is ? Or is it that he is using some external hq sound recorder ? Scan speak Revelator all the way ! Thumbs up.
Hey, just another question, what are you using as shock absorbing, padding under your subwoofer cabinet? I.e. between the floor boards and the sub. Thanks
I am considering bilding a pair of these or similar scan-speak design, but I really want something that will out-perform any $2k + comercial 2 way bookshelf speaker. Is that an unreasonable expectation? High on my list of priorities is real clear lower mids, neutral and transparent, and fast transient response. Have you compared these along side any $2k+ commercial 2 ways?
Martin Logan electrostatic loudspeakers. You will barely hear the difference between a real guitar and the one coming out of the ML's.....! A high-end amplifier is a must, ofcourse. They are cheaper than you might think, especially the second hand ones, although....for the life of me...I can't think of a reason why anyone would ever want to get rid of them. I am a BIG Scan Speak fan, but ML just beats the **** out of Scan Speak. No contest.
telescopereplicator if I evaluate every speaker thru the same headphones, I think I will arrive at a fair comparison. Ofcourse, recording quality apart.
Nice speakers. I recently made the Troels Gravesen Scanspeak Discovery 3way classic, great sound. I wonder how much better the revelator would sound, but with my modest equipment (bluesound node 2 - rega dac - marantz pm6006) I would not hear the revelators potential (I also think my discoveries have more potential with better equipment. Nice music, I listened to the album yesterday.
Same here, built the TG 3-way mk-II last year, also been wondering, from what i remember one of the revelator designs was very close to mk-II, just the midrange space was diffrent, might be possible to rebuild. Besides that, the mk-II is also a great speaker, nearly the same as the regular 3-way, highly recommended. From what Ive been able to hear in youtube videos and other comparisons, the revelator would add more clarity, the 3-way is a little relaxed in comparison making it very comfortable to listen to with most music. I dont think either of us would be disapointed with the upgrade. In any case, would be prepared to improve amplifier and sources next, there is always more to be had.
Erik Coulombe thank you. i too am interested in building my own. i just built the overnight sensation from parts express and was amazed at how good they are for 100 dollars. my next project will be the revelators from scan speak but i will use a carpentor for best results. the kit will cost 4K but its my only hope of having a 50K speaker perfornance like the Vandersteen or Wilsons i have seen at audio shows.
Ofcourse it's different ! I am listening to a (fairly cheap) set of Logitech 5.1 surround speakers. But trust me, I have heard MANY loudspeakers in person. I have a pair of Scan Speak tweeters, myself. I have been to many shows, many shops. I know what loudspeakers sound like. I've heard them all. From very cheap to ridiculously expensive and everything in between.
Might not be verry "Wife Approved" to have 2x120L cabinets? =P And also, I se nothing wrong with a subwoofer in a stereo setup. Cant really place 300hz and down anyways:D
Why not make a real 3way system ? this would not even being considered a 2½ way this is a 2 way system with a sub :p that's not hi-fi. and yeah i do have a Scanspeak Revelator 3 way system, with High pass filter / Band pass filter / Low pass filter + Noch filter´ using the 2x 10 inch revelator 6.5 inch mid and the 1 inch soft dome tweeter.
@@jungtarcph or your own design, depending on how good you are at designing crossover networks.. 😋 It's quite expensive ordering Troels's kit, compared to designing your own. But Troels's designs manages remarkable frequency response, phase and impedance curves, with a bare minimum of components, and not least of all, very high sensitivity (nice transients)
This is about the best in hi fi you can get. Scan Speak with good crossovers are the top, great speakers.
Active crossovers and biamping/triamping could give and even greater result!

That's not krell, it's advance acoustic MAA-406.
Just a beautiful setup. And i love the sound from theese Scan-speak elements, only got to listen to them in real life once, sadly. Great work!

would you have the crossover design schematic available for the 2ways? i am planning on building a very similar setup Thanks.

which model? Is it ScanSpeak Revelator-66?
insane sound ! ! !

most value added to any acoustic systems is the adv
The monitors are they sealed or vented/reflex ?
Geweldige speakers! Mooi afgewerkt ook, mijn complimenten.
Heb zelf de reference plus. Geweldige muziek ook.. welke cd is dit?

Sounds like scanspeak are top notch drivers. Thanks for this video.
.......... you are listening to your own PC loudspeakers.....................

Is the sub on in this recording?
Amazing, can you help me build a similar monitor speaker setup?
Also what is that white thing the sub is sitting on?
What is on source? I know sub amp is Hypex, what else did you use? Thanks

Sounds canny on my mobile I have just modded some speakers with scanspeak tweeters

Nooo....
In the low End Scanspeak woofers are much better.
For midrange many planars and ribbon types beat ML.
this room sounds awful
