Sonic bounces around surprisingly fast. The lack of Spin Dash makes the strategy a bit different from that of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Sonic 3 & Knuckles runs, since preserving your momentum becomes a lot more important. However, this doesn't prevent the author from achieving crazy velocities even with such a significant limitation. In this run, the game is completed without collecting any emeralds.
This is the ninth publication of this branch, improving on the previous effort ( tasvideos.org/... ) by 00:07.89 (of in-game time), due to even tighter optimization and some new shortcuts.
There are also runs where Knuckles ( tasvideos.org/... ) and Tails ( tasvideos.org/... ) they take advantage of their own abilities to finish the game in record time.

The reason it looks more fucked up other tases/runs is because it has a cam hack that makes it so you can always see sonic which you normally can’t when doing zips and what not so it makes it so you see things in ways you normally wouldn’t

Egix Itchiford Sonic was never a well coded series (but the Genesis games were definitely more playable and stable looking than Adventure 1, especially DX). It’s a miracle the first game even works with unfixed illegal instructions.

How come in speed runs of this game you're not allowed to skip the end stage results to proceed faster?
The end of every act always brings up a results screen that is impossible to skip as a part of the vanilla Sonic 1 game (and more titles). Unless you can find a way to exploit the game (without exterior assistance that is) to skip it, then it's not fair play.
Oh, so it actually is unskippable? Guess my memory on that was off, but the last time I played this game was in 2002 on the GameCube's Sonic Mega Collection. Thanks for the response.

Trying to beat this game for the first time. So far I've gotten to Labyrinth Robotnik once. Do I need to keep practicing, or are there a few tricks I need to look out for?

i'm just a layman but since you get a lot fewer points for getting over 30 seconds, would it be faster to just wait it out and get 30seconds on the timer but have to count less points?

This might be a dumb question but wouldn't it be faster in most acts to wait until you have reached the 30 second mark instead of finishing in 20 something because of the points having to be counted?
