What an amazing informative video that was. Clear and precise. I’ve been dreading catching Covid as I have Asthma and although it’s still terrifying to think of I’ve got a clearer picture now. I’m actually self isolating at the moment as my Daughter took really ill on Christmas Day. She’s been extremely ill with it and also has Asthma. I’m just glad that I didn’t catch it and thankful. My Grandsons also self isolating in another room. Well thanks for this great video and have a Happy New Year. Love from Edinburgh, Scotland.

Jacqui, I have asthma too, and back in March 2020 I caught an unidentified respiratory virus. The virus had all the hallmarks of covid, but it was early days so here in California they wouldn't test for covid unless you had traveled internationally or had been around someone who had been diagnosed with covid.
I *was* tested for Flu A & B which was negative, and my asthma specialist told me later that it definitely wasn't pertussis (also circulating at the time) b/c it lasted 87 days, and pertussis is consistently a 100 day illness.
My asthma specialist did say my symptoms lined up with covid, and that a covid diagnosis would explain why my lungs were resistant to responding to a *high* level of therapeutic intervention. So...
Long story short, the Emergency Room was finally able to bring my blood oxygen saturating (SPO2) up to 93% (after an injection of Solumedrol steroid plus 25 mg albuterol via nebulizer (a normal albuterol dose = 2 mg), plus 4 hrs. on a high flow oxygen line). I have no idea how low my SPO2 was when I arrived at the hospital, but I was croaking, trying to drag air down my throat.
This is all to say I am 52, have asthma and survived the original strain of covid, but it was no picnic. I was able to treat at home with 6 inhalers and 3 oral Rxs. Even so I felt like I was breathing through a thick towel or a straw - I had to work for every breath. It was *exhausting.*
The mesications that made the most difference for me were:
      40 mg. prednisone
Alvesco (the ciclesonide mentioned in the video), Spiriva (once daily) and believe it or not, Mucinex (a mucolytic, which helped thin the super thick fluid coating my lungs). The AirDuo (albuterol plus ipatropium) nebulizer treatments every 4 hrs. helped too.
I'm not saying you should take these medications, as I'm not a doctor. But I *am* mentioning them b/c they made a HUGE difference for me, so you may want to ask your doctor about them. 🙂
I think it was all my asthma Rxs that saved me, b/c I knew my lungs well enough to know when they got into trouble and then head to the hospital when it got bad for help.

I have asthma and got Covid. For me it was horrible because of my asthma. First I got Covid and it’s symptoms and was doing okay. It felt like having the flu but 5 days later my asthma got horrible. I was put on steroids but they did nothing for me this time. Steroids usually worked for me on extreme cases but not this time. I was taking my inhalers and doing my nebulizer treatments. Nothing was helping me. I felt horrible but everyday that went by I knew I was getting closer to getting better. I had to concentrate on my breathing and not panic. I’m 70% better now but I’m not 100% there yet. Covid is gone but my asthma remains. I had to take one day at a time.

I got diagnosed with asthma at the age of 4 and was on corticosteroids until i was 24. The reason i stopped using them was because i started to understand how long term use of steroids was weakening my lung tissue and that if I didnt stop I was going to be on them for the rest of my life and i wanted to get off all pharmaceuticals. I am now 29 and do not need my inhaler at all now, but that wasnt easy. I got very very very bad lung infections, about 3 or 4 of them, where i got so sick i wasnt sure if it was safer to stay in bed and try to breath (because I was scared that if i stood up and walked that I would collapse) or if I should go to the hospital. I had my inhaler sitting right there, but I knew as soon as I took it, I would have to start all over. I believe in neuroplasticity and I believe that we can heal autoimmune diseases, and so through my incredible stubbornness and will power, I healed every lung infection with herbs and mushrooms, not my inhaler. I did Bodytalk sessions for years and for 2 months before bed I put a heating pad and Castor Oil packs on my chest every single night, and I also consumed it internally ( if i take castor oil now a days my body doesnt like it, but for the 2 months my body used it all up and i contribute it to getting rid of a lot of my lung inflammation). I was diligent, and I never gave up and I no longer get asthma attacks. There were years sleepless nights where I couldnt slow my heart rate down because i couldnt breath, I would get exercise induced asthma, chronic bronchitis, you name it, pneumonia.... and now this is the healthiest I have ever been. So this leads me to my question, do you think I am extra screwed if I get covid???? There is some humor but also seriousness in this question. Thank you!!!! I enjoyed the video!

@@shiilisauce1096 healing / regulating asthma is a full time job. First is starts with diet, then supplements, fully believing your lungs will heal, and then getting as many *soil based probiotics* you can get, then every day dedication. I killed so many of my beneficial microbes from growing up in the prairies of Canada where agricultural wheat and canola farms are, and I worked in a potash mine for a couple years after which I noticed my overall health decline. All of this “harshness” hinders the bodies regenerative abilities. So I guess first thing would be to examine where you live and what health issues could be coming just from your environment. I am now an organic farmer and I get inoculated with beneficial soil microbes every day thank goodness, this has drastically improved my health bc my environment is so healthy, surrounded by healthy land. So our *gut microbiome* is EVERYTHING!! wash your face with the forest floor, dust yourself with someone’s garden dirt, eat the dirt from a well composted area (not joking) and start taking things like * Effective Microorganisms aka EM* - is a patented microbial solution that people use for cleaning and for Korean Nature Farming, but I drank it internally (I got bad gas for 2 weeks but felt great after). All the microbes we have ever lost in our bodies exists in the soil, and I believe asthma is a culprit of us just not having all of the microbes to help our bodies function optimally. Grow a garden and eat the veggies straight out without washing them = super human lol!!
Then I did supplements. Like castor oil packs and pills internally. Basil, cardamom and many other essential oils are rediculously good at clearing mucus and supporting the clearing of phlegm. Medicinal Mushrooms *Cordyceps and *Agarikon specifically are amazing for respiratory and circulatory systems:, but any and all *adaptogenic mushrooms* are important for supporting the bodies healing.
And If you can respectfully use this plant - Osha root- is becoming extinct from over harvesting but if you are looking to get off your inhaler, osha root would open up my lungs when I was having an attack, just takes a few minutes longer than inhaler. The lungs need time to remember how to work on their own without an inhaler, and that takes time, but Osha really helped in emergencies.

    K.P. Buteyko once said that:
To test the validity of the scientific discovery made by us almost 30 years ago, it takes 30 seconds of time: offer an asthmatic hyperventilation - he will have a suffocation attack, offer to reduce breathing - will relieve the attack. The cause of the asthma attack is hyperventilation of the lungs, no one said this before our scientific research. And so I have been asking scientists for 30 years to spend 30 seconds to check this (1986).
