There's one thing I have absolutely no doubt about when it comes to the Activision purchase. Every single one of those games is going to be released day one on Game Pass.
@LegozForDayz I don't know what you mean. If they're on Game Pass day one, how isn't it a win? You have to understand that Microsoft doesn't care if you own an Xbox or not, man; they only care if you're subscribed to Game Pass. The more AAA games they have coming to Game Pass day one (like Diablo or COD), the better Game Pass is going to do. That's the game that Microsoft is playing now. Why do you think they're trying to get cloud gaming up and running? They want to be able to sell you a Game Pass subscription that you can play on your TV through the cloud. That is their end goal, and Activision will help them do that. For my money, I prefer most Nintendo and Playstation games personally, but facts are facts. Game Pass is a really great value, and judging by the moves Microsoft is making, it's only going to get better.
It's the parts about "existing agreements" and "our desire" - In my opinion, this translates to CoD will remain on Playstation until all existing agreements expire. Phil Spencer was so obviously being as vague as possible with his response. Any new games that are coming to PS are currently in development and already promised to be on the platform. If anything, he’s trying to get Sony and Nintendo to put GamePass on their systems. Mark my words: by 2024, CoD is going to be exclusive.
Phil Spencer has mastered the art of PR/legal speak. He’s always honest, and even when he lies, it’s our fault we took his words out of context. The ultimate.
There's something deeply satisfying seeing the company that will maliciously lock down every games they can to their own platform through timed exclusivity, exclusive content, and buyouts, now basically throwing a tantrum towards a news outlet at the mere prospect of Microsoft making CoD an Xbox only franchise from then forward.
Phil’s response was so vague and wordsmithy that it could’ve honestly meant multiple things like “current CoD games we’ll continue to support like warzone and once contracts end new CoDs will be exclusive” or “we had a desire to put new CoD on PlayStation by bringing gamepass with it” which I don’t see happening because Sony would not want it to compete with their PS Now/PS plus/Spartacus

Sony losing Activision is the best thing that could've happened to the whole industry. It's going to force Sony to innovate which is always a good thing!! I can't wait to see what the whole industry looks like in 1 to 2 years from now. Exciting times my friends.
It should be the other way around. Sony has been innovating with the new PSVR 2 set competing with current oculus quest 2 headsets, and much better exclusives. I believe that Microsoft should be the one’s innovating here.

Still, like you said, I am an xbox owner and honestly, couldn't care less about Activision Games, save for Crash and Spyro (sorry Tony Hawks fans, I don't really like skating games)
Keeping older COD games and Warzone on PS=not pulling COD from PS. Its baffling so many seem to think that MS isnt going to leverage Sony's number one system seller to drive up GP subs. Its the perfect gun to put against Sony's head to either accept GP on PS, or be left behind with only the older games and Warzone. Many also seem to have forgotten the same laws which prevented them to speak publicly about their plans with Bethesda apply here as well. I think for many the denial period wil be even longer, nor do I think MS is done shopping. We arent anywhere near a monopoly, and since this take over was done in a matter of months and was an unexpected opportunity which presented itself; it cant be the acquisition both Klobrille and Daniel Achmad refert to right after MS announced the Bethesda take over. So more earth shattering take over news is yet to come.
I think Phil means that Call of Duty games will remain on PlayStation *until all existing contractual agreements for existing Call of Duty games are completed.* (Once those agreements expire...... Well..... that's another story)

There are a few things MS could do with CoD, out side of honour any agreements like CoD early map packs that Sony used to have, don't know if they still do. 1) Release CoD multi-platform but restrict it in some way, early Xbox/PC map packs, single player campaign exclusively on Xbox/PC or other exclusive content. 2) Continue on as is, multi-platform parity. 3) Same as 2 but added cross platform multiplayer. 4) When agreements are done so is most of CoD. Minecraft is a good comparison here, MS still allowed but Minecraft and spin-offs to appear on non-Xbox/PC systems after the deal went through.

Sound like much of the speculation about Activision, COD and Sony focuses on Microsoft bringing back old IPs to make new games, and Sony countering by making its own SOCOM-style COD game. This seems positive for gamers
The other issue that hasn’t been brought up by many is the whole subscription service across the entire industry. The major players will all have their own subscription service in time and thinking of that seems really abysmal. We don’t own games now but paying $10-$15 a month for each service is not exactly what I want. $60-$80 a month just isn’t sustainable. That actually would fracture the industry to the point we would get less for our money.
Using 'online' as a verb sounds super weird to me, as in 'Nintendo's Online" or "improved online". 'Online' is an adjective or adverb which needs to go with a verb. You could say 'online experience' or 'online features' or something, but you can't really say 'Nintendo's online' without adding a verb.
The new Lego Star Wars game looks interesting, but, the fact they honor the Disney trilogy as actual Star Wars keeps me from ever buying the game. If they cut out all content from those atrocities, then I’d consider. They could throw in Mandalorian and Rogue One content, and I’d be fine with that.
I was calling the exclusivity for most Bethesda game however, CoD is a very different beast from single player RPGs. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say they'll treat CoD the same as Minecraft.
The thing about HeXen is that it and its prequel, Heretic, are Doom engine games, while HeXen 2 is a Quake engine game. The series remains extremely popular among Doom and Quake fans, to the point where id has put nods to it in the new Doom games and Quake Champions. The team that made the games, Raven Software, even made Quake 4 for id.

Obviously Microsoft didn’t buy Activision/Blizzard to leave all these studios working on COD. They are working towards having high profile gamepass releases monthly in the coming years.

Kinda hope so tbh if game pass can spread to other consoles that would legit be amazing
Phil Spencer has mastered the art of PR/legal speak. He’s always honest, and even when he lies, it’s our fault we took his words out of context. The ultimate.
@@MyManJFKTV eh, i wouldnt say honest
@@taylorruddick111 - I feel like you didn’t read anything after that.
@@MyManJFKTV oh i did
There's something deeply satisfying seeing the company that will maliciously lock down every games they can to their own platform through timed exclusivity, exclusive content, and buyouts, now basically throwing a tantrum towards a news outlet at the mere prospect of Microsoft making CoD an Xbox only franchise from then forward.
Nice kirb pfp
Agreed Sony is so fucking entitled
I really really like your content do you speak really well when you keep people engaged keep up the good work
Phil’s response was so vague and wordsmithy that it could’ve honestly meant multiple things like “current CoD games we’ll continue to support like warzone and once contracts end new CoDs will be exclusive” or “we had a desire to put new CoD on PlayStation by bringing gamepass with it” which I don’t see happening because Sony would not want it to compete with their PS Now/PS plus/Spartacus
Will we ever get them folders or themes in a switch update? Update after update still nothing noticeable

I agree. Things were getting pretty stale there. The idea of bringing back some old franchises and getting some variety again is promising. Here's hoping both Sony and Microsoft can push each other to deliver.
@@cinzley244 No they haven’t. Literally the PSVR2 does nothing new for the gaming industry. Oculus is more innovative than Sony right now and I hate oculus.
Nah. Microsoft just took the easy way and brought IPs instead of making unique new ones. Hopefully we don’t have another rareware if it doesn’t work out.
@@noel_996 Sony has also been doing the exact same thing lol. Spider Man, Wolverine, Final Fantasy, and they even attempted to do it with Starfield.
It makes sense, soo many PlayStation gamers were calling the DOJ Phil had to come out and make a statement to calm them down from losing the top selling game on PlayStation.
Sony has so many IPS to make great multi-player games and they resort to beg Microsoft. Their weak leadership will bury that company under the ground.
Do they? Other then Killzone, Gran Turismo and the lackluster multiplayer of Uncharted or LoU I do not know any.
I'm excited to see if they do something with Singularity and Tenchu
After thinking about it, I'm not sure how anyone can claim a monopoly when outside of call of duty, there is very little impact on Sony and pretty much zero overall on Nintendo.
That’s what I was thinking and it looks like cod’s in decline as well
Only people crying monopoly are Sony fanboys
I don't think that there is any kind of monopoly so far, but I wouldn't like to see these big buyouts became the norm. Still, like you said, I am an xbox owner and honestly, couldn't care less about Activision Games, save for Crash and Spyro (sorry Tony Hawks fans, I don't really like skating games)
@@RubyRose23328 edit Sony COD players
If Disney hasn’t had a monopoly, Microsoft isn’t anywhere close to a monopoly.
Hexen coming back would make Civvie a very happy inmate
I think Phil means that Call of Duty games will remain on PlayStation *until all existing contractual agreements for existing Call of Duty games are completed.*
(Once those agreements expire...... Well..... that's another story)
Would love to see a new guitar hero come out...just nothing like live more like 3 or world tour.
I have been saying in the last couple years that I would love a new guitar hero game.
If they can come up with a guitar that can work on any Xbox consoles/PC's going forward then it will but if we got to keep buying new guitars each generation then I'm out lol
Would love to see another DJ Hero, too
Hexen was a 64 game from my childhood that i remember not knowing the ins & outs but having a blast playing it. Would love to revisit it
I've had issues getting into big team solo. It's not just groups. Also the game keeps crashing to desktop on me in the middle of matches
Seconded, not sure where he gets the idea that it’s just a group thing
@@NotClipzard it isn't even big team battle that's crashing on me. I haven't been playing those because I can't get into them at all. It's been all the smaller matches crashing on me. @@hermanmunchther3082 It’s a shame really that the game is in the state it’s in, hope they fix all these various issues eventually. I’m planning to take a break from the game for a while after I finish this week’s ultimate reward
Yep. It worked briefly for me but only ever dropped me in a current game. While everyone was grinding in ranked when the game came out I was having absolute blast with BTB even by myself
I played Hexen on the N64 and it was unique in that it allowed 4 player split screen against the campaign. The frame rate was already bad in this mode but once combat started it became downright headache inducing. I would really like to see it come back in it's first person shooter/slasher sword-n- sorcery action game with some rpg character building elements.
Hexen would be awesome to have a new game of! Hopefully they would turn it into a full RPG or immersive Sim like game instead of being a Doom clone in medieval times lol or elements from those added into a new game
I've played 2 hours of Pokemon Arceus and it's definitely a step in the right direction. I won't spoil anything, but just in terms of encounters and battling, it feels way better.

You're actually a modern day kid who goes back in time but so far the game has given zero explanation. The opening is a disembodied voice saying his name is Arceus and you need to help make the first pokedex. I can say right now, Lego is gonna make a better version of the Sequel Trilogy than Disney can
I was thinking skipping those movies, but i think u have play them to unlock more boring characters from that era..
I think keeping games like CoD, Doom etc. multi-platform is just going to bring Microsoft more money, right? Even more than if they make them exclusive. Curious what they're actually going to decide.
there's no need there's no need even to mention Bethesda games, does a long on! You don't pay 70 billion dollars just to keep your games multi-platform. That defeats the purpose and Activision future games are going to be exclusive eventually.
In the short term yes, but in the long turn making those games exclusives will bring a huge amount of market share that Microsoft needs to make gamepass unbeatable
I thing playstation sign the call of duty contract last year
I think having god of war ragnarok, horizon zero dawn 2 and spiderman 2 release day 1 on all platforms would bring them more money
@@frankderossi795 you can't know that. It all comes down to what brings them more money. If their focus is going to be on GamePass, then they'll most probably going to make it an exclusive, bunch of more subscribers will come.

Phil is a PR expert haha. In general just a smart leader. Best thing that could of ever happened for xbox tbh. Pushing the industry forward more & more each year while not leaving current fans behind. I say in 2-3 years time Micro is gonna be completely heading this generation and that is okay imo. I prefer their vision of where this industry should be by the end of the 2020's.
Sound like much of the speculation about Activision, COD and Sony focuses on Microsoft bringing back old IPs to make new games, and Sony countering by making its own SOCOM-style COD game. This seems positive for gamers
Come on Spawn, comparing the cash shop and Big Team Battle? One is a lot more complex than the other.
Personally I think Kings Quest is even more insane.
The first game was made by 1 person and had text based controls.
LEGO/TT also had that Apple Arcade Exclusive Mobile game that came out during this as well.
John "hard to miss they are posting pictures of pokemon everywhere"

Using 'online' as a verb sounds super weird to me, as in 'Nintendo's Online" or "improved online". 'Online' is an adjective or adverb which needs to go with a verb. You could say 'online experience' or 'online features' or something, but you can't really say 'Nintendo's online' without adding a verb.
Big team battle doesnt even work solo... not to mention any size party.
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say they'll treat CoD the same as Minecraft.
i dont think so
That new star wars game looks FIRE
Have Toys For Bob make a new Banjo-Kazooie!
Got to play deaths door and windjammers 2 on game pass last night. Both are incredible games.
HeXen would be fairly interesting if they made a follow-up using VR.
they put damage numbers in a Lego game this is gonna be a masterpiece
Since Blizzard has the habit of making crossover DLCs themed around their franchises, It's crazy to think that maybe one day I could possibly get a Dragonborn Helmet in WoW. Remember Halo Wars? Think HaloCraft! Have a great weekend man
The statement is clear, they intent to follow their agreement as long as the contracts haven't due. Once they expired, new agreements will come and games will be multiplatform as long as both parties will get an agreement. If don't, things will change.
i hope Lego Star Wars gets Clone Wars and Rebels dlc
If Spyro and Crash become exclusive that would piss me tf off
Phil Spencer: “yea… and we want Spiderman on Xbox” ::slams phone::
Ive never had that problem on halo so far. I wold love that you use the same sarcasm when talking about sony
Pick another, fool
Everyone considers the threat that Microsoft/Activision/Blizzard has on Sony and Nintendo but where is the perspective for Valve. Actiblizz games weren't really a Steam presence but the subscription business model is a growing shadow over the steam store front.
If anything, this will help Valve. All Microsoft games are released on Steam day one. Phil Spencer has a very good working relationship with GabeN.
HeXen and Heretic are both back under the same roof now.
How crazy is that?
Maybe that id software can work on a Hexen game would be awesome
Wow, you actually called Tony Hawk 1+2 a remake, if you originally thought it was a remaster I don't blame you, the marketing behind that game kept calling it a remaster when a simple Google search would tell you that the game was really a complete remake from the ground up
Uncle Phil should talk to Sony about sharing Spider-Man for Call of Duty. That would be cool.
Obviously Microsoft didn’t buy Activision/Blizzard to leave all these studios working on COD. They are working towards having high profile gamepass releases monthly in the coming years.
I don't really understand the argument that games are to expensive, they have literally been the same price since the NES
Hexen would be amazing considering how well they redid Doom.
I'm all for the idea of the acquisition being tripped up or falling through entirely. They said the same things with the Bethesda acquisition, and then did a 180 on it almost as fast.
