This is a great idea. I hope prices come down. Also I'd like to see hanging side panels (screen or tarp) to the ground so you could hang this 3m in the air and have an enclosed area below the tent.
I actually really like this idea! Do remember that old song, " The ants come marching one by one, hurrah, hurrah.."??? For some weird reason when I was mentally visuallzing the flaps down the side, I also had a vision of all the ants and spiders that would crawl up those flaps and then reach the top of the tent and just be marching around aimlessly up on the tent. I said, the same thing in my review...great minds think a like! ;-D They can also "add" a velcro or zipper "cover up" for the "clear" ceiling window to PROTECT from the SUN when it's really, really sunny. Setup seems like a major hassle, finding the right three trees, throwing the straps multiple times, etc. Getting in and out, all that rocking around... Super fun for kids and fun to look at, though.
diane9247 Yep, it seems fun indeed, but not that practical for adults that camp a lot. Just think if you want to pee in the middle of the night...that won't end up well!
Minimum materials? Bullshit. A regular tent doesn't require three sets of ratchet straps, and no one can fall through the floor if someone accidentally drops their pocket knife or something sharp on the bottom. Not to mention, a suspended tent is also exposed to cold air from all sides. So what is the advantage again?
i've just been chatting on facebook about these with some rainforest guides in ecuador who were saying they would be fantastic for camping in swampy areas.
Nathan Horowitz And yet there are cliff tents that have existed for years that allow mountaineers to pitch a tent either of the side of a cliff or hung from a single point above...which doesn't require 3 sturdy trees in the correct configuration or within a certain distance. One anchor point will do, and without the need for extra ratchet straps.
kev3d Yea those exist but I feel like this is much easier, and safer to put up if you do not have the training to run carabiners, and climbing ropes, plus those climbing tents tend to not have a lot of room at all...
I've owned dozens of tents, and camped for thousands of nights during my life. I can see a hundred reasons you would buy this, and a thousand why you would never take it with you camping a second-time. From 'tent shift' during the night (where trees bend inward during the night due to tension) to never getting it level and keeping it level, to not having the ability to use a cot, to hassle getting up for bathroom trips in the night, to lack of a rain fly, to perfect 'clothesline' weapon after dark to catch people off-guard, to perfect raccoon playground, to, well, you get the idea. When I can get a good 3-season tent that will comfortably accommodate 6-people with cots for less than $100, I just don't see this as any benefit or 'unique item' value for $750 each.
The biggest problem with them is that there is no under quilt like you use with hammocks. You would have to bring an air or foam pad which would make the area inside smaller.
It's a truly amazing concept but I have a few questions, 1) How much does it weigh? 2) what size is it when packed away? 3) how waterproof is it? 4) How do you deal with the issue of condensation?
B Michaels No... The three points don't need to be, the tent fixes itself at the proper center of the three. That was what he said in the video. That is how it works. Actually it would be easier to find a place with this, I've seen them put up over streams in extreme situations. It's easy to find 3 points, it's harder to find flat ground. In fact, the ground people would be taking more time clearing the ground trying to eliminate all the rocks...
B Michaels Anything is~ But yeah, it actually takes less time to set up, because there are fewer poles... Camping is harder work than most realize lololol
The biggest weakness of the hammock is the temperature, you have to insulate underneath yourself in a way that doesn't compress the insulation. However the strength is you don't have to take heavy poles. This item neatly creates an experience that gets to involve both the heavy weight of the poles and the lack of good insulation of the hammock.
David Geronazzo Thats what I thod..cos I remmember my homeless times and sleeping some nights in hamock-and that was worst than sleeping on bare ground man-earth in that sense atleast insulates and at night can feel returning heat taken at day..was not shore if youre beeing sarcastic or theese tents have something They are not saying in video-like supermaterial discovered in space research...lol
If someone wandered by and wanted to be evil, they could cut the straps and BAM! In bear and mountain lion country I'd put that sucker up about 20' . . . Thanks Kirsten!
if someone tries that to my hammock ,i`ll shoot them in the face ! i camp armed .only person that would fuck with someone in their sleep like that is a fool .youve never been in the military have you ?evil people, can get dead ,damn quick doing that shit injuring people because their fuckin stupid !
If you haven't already graduated to hammock and tarp and still need the assurance of an enclosed space this would be the ideal balance of tent and hammock. No more trying to find even ground with no rocks.
Just amazing. This is what I call an untangible product--a coined word meaning creative possibilities. There is the quality of child's play or artist's experiment about it and it has great emotional appeal. It may be irrelevant, but I want one!
I haven't carried a tent with in forever when going camping, most times only carry a tarp a sleeping mat and a sleeping bag and sometimes a hammock, but this tentsile looks amazing, especially if you're taking friends with you who doesn't go camping that much😁 might have to consider getting a 2 or 3 person version😀
Chris Moreno I specced materials to make one of those myself. Materials alone were somewhere between $300 and 400USD, closer to $450 (depending on what extras I wanted) not including the design time and actual manufacturing time. I don't know what their manufacturing costs would be but around $800 seems like a nice price point with a decent profit margin.
Joseph Michela Exactly. Until the materiel cost comes down the price point for these tentsile tree tents will remain high, unfortunately. So until then (if there is a then) I will be patiently waiting for that $300-$400 price point. :)
morenosandiego Tentsile is a very young company and they are essentially inventing the suspended treehouse-tent category. As the category becomes more established and their sales grow, I expect that the price will come down more. I've seen original quotes for $1350/tentsile.
11:15 "People love hammocks, but in a hammock, you can only spend a few hours, then you get cold or wet or whatever, then you have to pack up and go home." If that's your experience, then you're either doing it wrong, or you're a real candy ass.
My initial thought of improving this would to make a floor underneath with adjustable legs to accommodate different levels of ground. The adjustable legs could be aluminum 2"X2" posts, 2 sections that can expand up to 8ft. The sagging of the floor with 4 adults was a lot. The floor, either made of plywood or fiberglass that can be folded somehow for storage. I love the idea and I am thinking of purchasing one. My floor idea will definitely be tried out. Thanks for the video......great idea!
looksw like a lot of work to me. ive been camping at least once a month since i was a kid and all i can say is godbless the pop up nowadays lol couldnt be arsed with all that. the pop up has made me lazy i suppose lol
But the things is avoid camping to the floor...and go floating mode.......the good thing would be to make it with transparent material so you can watch the surroundings as you do through cristal Windows.....or at least a part of it to watch the stars at night
sagisgems that would be cool, or have sides that go from the bottom of it to the ground. So you can sit under it and block the wind or rain off of you.
sagisgems Avoid camping on the floor for what exactly? Protection against bears? I can assure you the tent in this video is no where near elevated enough to protect them from any real threat. They better hope nothing happens to any of the tension straps while they're sleeping either; or there goes 4 broken necks. lol. Is the elevation going to protect you from tarantulas or something? Because spiders/ants/snakes etc love hanging out on trees, and guess what your tent is secured to. A direct tether to doom!
It would be warmer and dryer because you are off the ground, but a pain trying to find the right place with trees that are going to work. It also works as a cover for your camping gear and stuff you take camping.
+Aussie Outlaw the ground is wet and cold many times, also the ground is hard for sleeping. there is also the risk of animals when on the ground. spiders, bears, scorpions, snakes. i hope that answers your question.
Wild camping should come naturally to you for you to enjoy all it has to offer. This looks like a lot of hard work you don't need .like the concept but just to much
Now if I wanted to live in the woods for a long period of time, I would use this and build around it. But not for just one night. It's a great tree tent for a long period of time.
You state that people in hammocks get cold and wet and leave camp early. WRONG What you have here is basically a large hammock that is difficult to shelter from the rain and to insulate whereas hammocks have been designed with underquilts, overquilts, bug nets, and complete cocoon rain/sun tarps. Hammock campers have been camping in -40 degree weather with wind, rain, and snow comfortably (MINUS 40F) while carrying minimal gear. This set up is strictly for heavy equipment carrying camping and you have not designed it for easy insulation from cold or protection from bad weather. It is a nice set up for family car camping but your claim that this is better than a hammock for reasons of cold and wet is just the opposite of the truth.
Ed noyb i agree with the fact that this is a heavy setup, and wouldn't really be used in longer hikes or anything like that. however have you actually looked up the product? they make a complete outer shell for cold weather, and it is waterproof so you would not have to worry about that. and if you drop an open pocket knife in a normal hammock the same thing will happen so that is irrelvent. I bought a different brand one off Amazon lastyear that came with the cold weather shell, ropeladder and extended ratchets. this product gives you everything a tent offers but you can put it up in the tress and get absoutley amazing views. I typically set mine up around 20ft up and it take me 10 mins with one other. not for everyone but defiantly would recommend it.
austin rouse I would like to se you out mid winter in one I have my amok in anything down to -10c and I'm never cold admit it the tentsile is a gimmick not a serious camping set up
You can hang your gear from a mesh bag under the center opening or get a bigger one and put all your gear into one of the hammock spaces.all in all a fantastic idea.I don't understand all the haters and why they don't understand the brilliance of the design.
I guess you have to look at it as a performance... This summarize all the problems of the other ways to camp in one item without having any of their advantages (except the bug net).
jeffer I was thinking about the same thing. The killers in slasher movies have never had it easier than this. Just stab from below, or cut the middle, let them drop down and watch them squirm in panic.
These are flipping amazing. I dream about things like this. I was almost afraid to check how much they cost, but when I did I realized that I've paid a lot more for just plain old lowborn tents. After seeing this, paying $600 to loaf around on the ground like a peasant slug seems absurd. I love the Trilogy.
I like the idea. I'm a hammock backpacker and would never go back to sleeping on the ground. Insulation is an issue in the cold but there are remedies such as underquilts and foam. The triangular shape is appealing for stability. There are many many places where being high off the ground is a good thing. So how about a one man 2.5lb version?!!
it isnt great for living in any country really, seems like it doesn't work unless you have 3 trees at an adequate space away from you, i also dont see how this is easier than setting up a normal tent. As for city use? that aint happening.
The idea for getting up off the ground but away from any large branches is the best thing for bear country. They just arent high enough. In my opinion the best thing possible is a large portaledge-tent lifted high enough so that the bottom of your lowest hanging gear is at least 15 ft high and rigged up at least 6 ft away horizontaly from any major tree column or branch. This is not easy or cheap to acheive safely but it is SOOO worth it. I HAVE DONE SO MUCH RESEARCH AND THIS METHOD IS THE ONLY ONE THAT OFFERS 10/10 - COMFORT(relative to camping) 10/10 - SAFETY AND 10/10 - ANIMAL PROTECTION (ranging from insect to all the things that could kill you). Being up off the ground covers us from all non climbing mammals. But for the more formidable predators such as BEARS AND BIG CATS we need to cover a few more bases. We must be high enough so that a bear couldnt stand up and pull our ledge or any hanging gear(15ft min). We must also be pulled away from the base of the tree or large braches because black bears and big cats can climb a tree and get right on top of a tree ledge that is resting right next to the tree. So we need to go up and away to be totally unreachable from dangerous predators. In most cases people use hammocks to get up high but I dont like not having a strong flat floor to live in. For this reason I use a portable ledge to create my living pad above the ground. Now the portaledges that are traditionally sold from rock climbing outfitters are terrific. Strong, easy and fast to assemble and very light as they are meant to be carried up a rock face and installed while hanging from an achor. in a life or death situation, the gear must be very sound and for the sake of climbing, light. These ledges are very expensive, especially if you want a double for more room. I chose to build my own using mainly pvc pipes, cargo straps and heavy duty rachets. once the main frame and lifting apparatus are assembeled, customization is very easy. I am using a 7ftx4ft area so there is plenty of room for me to sleep, store gear and even bring up a chair. Not to mention the gear that can be hung from under the ledge. Once done, throw up your bug net-tarp combo, or a tent if you prefer. With my method of construction, I get a VERY, VERY strong and flat ground surface. Using interwoven 4inch cargo straps tightened with rachets around the pvc frame, I get 2 huge advantages. 1 - unparalleled strength and flatness(closest thing to a floor without actually bringing one) 2 - the style of design creates a closed cavity under the floor to instal an uderquilt or insulating tarp for winter camping. AND THE BEST PART! With the design style I have chosen, I am able to use the rachets to lift the platform off the ground and up into the tree with ME, A FRIEND AND 200 POUNDS OF GEAR ON TOP OF IT!!! To be clear this is NOT the light, easy way to camp out. My system takes time and energy to set up properly but the cost is significantly lower than buying a major manufacturers portaledge. There are many cheaper, faster, lighter options however for the ultimate in tree living deep in the bush, there is nothing better. In this system I could easily live in a tree for a year without fear or discomfort. TOTAL MATERIAL COSTS - $350(kinda pricey but amazing value relative to finished product) SIZE - everything will fit in a mid to large day pack. built - 7x4ft floor, 7ft high tent ridge WEIGHT - roughly 35Lbs in the pack any questions on specs or details just ask in the reply section. Enjoy!
Well, how can a bear reach you...if you are high off the ground, suspended between trees? They could climb one of the trees and chew the suspension cables... but why would they bother, they aren't meat flavored.
Why are they so expensive? $800.00 is way too much for something that probably costs $25.00 in wholesale materials. Especially when you are not inventing anything new here. All you did was hang in already existing tent structure on a tree instead of setting it up on the ground. You want this to take off? Drop the price down below $100.
Chris, I think you greatly underestimate the costs of R&D, Marketing, etc. You also depreciate the idea. He did not just ". . . hang in already existing tent structure on a tree instead of setting it up on the ground." He INVENTED a triangular hanging structure, using 11 prototypes, each of which would have been expensive to make. As an avid camper and backpacker and a former USMC Company Aid Man, I have a great deal of experience with tents of all types, and this looks like it would be excellent. Best to engage the little grey cell before you open your big mouth. . .
R&D for what Martin? Taking a tent and strapping it to tree with a bulky tension system? He did not invent anything new here. Nothing. It's a good idea in theory, just not realistic for the average camper or the experienced one tbh. I am also not saying they should not make a profit, but come on. So my big mouth is allowed an opinion, just like you. And thanks for your service.
Chris Everly way more than 25 in supplies man, think of the actual tensile strength required of material AND stitching $$ to support ~4 adults (4x180=720lbs), consider that all of that weight is being suspended by lateral (ripping) force by the straps. so the body of the tent must support that also by reinforcement.
You'd be surprised at the true cost of the materials used wholesale. My point was however, it is just too expensive for what it is versus a traditional shelter setup, or even a hammock. I am not knocking them by any stretch of the imagination. A solid idea, but I am guessing they are not knocking the doors down selling them. Price and pack weight are an issue, and their product has too much of both imo. But with that said, I hope they do well. An imaginative idea.
Sounds really cool for a little while, but it doesn't look very practical for camping. The weight of objects stored in the tent will always want to fall inward towards the middle. Moving will disturb everything and everyone in the tent. I bet kids would love it, but for logical adults looking for practicality, you're looking at a huge waste of money. Not to mention how due to relying on so much tension to be usable, will cause any defects, rips or holes to become worse and worse. A tear in the bottom from a shoe or a backpack will just rip into a hole when you tighten the tent. Unless you can make these with super quality materials and guarantee them with a full warranty, they sound like a huge risk, and thus, a waste of money.
totally fantastic Alex to make life easier to put your straps into the trees first use a finer throwing rope with a small heavy weight this is attached to your big straps my friend uses this technique to get ropes high up into jungle trees for hoisting up camera equipment.
vaguely reminiscent of George Pal’s “WAR OF THE WORLDS movie from 1950 with its scary creatures floating through the air zapping everyone. Great idea for keeping your bum away from the cold wet ground , although I can visualise lots of squirrels running up and down your rigging lines and piddling on your tents. GREAT IDEA .These would work well over here in Australia.🙂
i have an idea for the under side insulation. add a tarp, add thermal blankets or shrub, and then put your tent down on top of it. it adds more strength and padding.... if thats a new product where can i get it to test it for free? we are constantly traveling and love the outdoors. that center pouch would definitely work with a Dakota pit. no smoke, plenty of heat for hours, just add more wood if its getting low. awesome I'm so stoked to try that out!
I really like this idea. It would be cool to have an option to have screens drop down and connect to a bathtub like floor to act as a screened-in room underneath for an eating area or just to hang out free from the flying bugs or maybe just to escape the windier days but still be able to see around you.
They mentioned making bigger spaces for a village or something like that, but the issue is that while it's great for lounging or sleeping, the floor space is not level/stable enough to put any kind of currently existing furniture or fixtures. If you wanted to try something like that, either you would have to design all new appliances and furniture designed around an unstable floor space, or you would have to build stable platforms for the tents to settle on, kind of making the tree villages, but taking away part of building the entire structure and only having to worry about building the foundation.
Mentioned below that not very practical for really cold weather, and I agree. diane9247 Yep, it seems fun indeed, but not that practical for adults that camp a lot. Just think if you want to pee in the middle of the night...that won't end up well!
+joanna_k Handy for men, the opposite for women!
diane9247 Hahaha! You're probably right!
If you get 1inch tubular nylon and figure 8 knots run between trees you adjust the anchor points. the sky is the limit. love this.
When I was in the Amazon I sure wished I had one of these. Superb idea.
I need to get me one of these ufo tents.
I foresee many campers getting clotheslined at night!
Brings a whole new meaning to stumbling out to pee at night :)
Add a Big Agnes Mountain Glo system to the rigging.
You just open the triangle flap and piss laying down :)
and they would be called idiots
One advantage would be a dry floor during a torrential downpour, or if you put it high enough it would be free from certain pesky wildlife.
excellent, cant wait to try ours in the forest.
Why didn't I think of this? Wow,the kids are going to love this bouncy house!
😉 true
The biggest problem with them is that there is no under quilt like you use with hammocks. You would have to bring an air or foam pad which would make the area inside smaller.
These are genius, but at 750 each, there's no way I can afford one.
Make it one h itll cost cheaper
Holy moly, they sure are pricey
It's a truly amazing concept but I have a few questions,
1) How much does it weigh?
2) what size is it when packed away?
3) how waterproof is it?
4) How do you deal with the issue of condensation?
THE MOST INCREDIBLE TREE TENT DESIGN EVER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MUST SEE.
Wow these are so cool!
Lmfao the dude at the beginning putting his rope 20 feet up that's like what I would do :'D!
Cool! A hole in the middle to drop a hot steamy turd through when nature calls. Brilliant!
I cant stop cracking up. Best comment award.
I say its definitely a great invention to adapt to camping, may not be ideal in every circumstance; but for some it's perfect.
I own a hammock and while at work I spend my lunch break on it almost all the time in summer, it's great!
Can't imagine how this would work for practical hanging out and sleeping, everytime a person moves about everyone gets bounced like on a water bed.
When I saw the tents, I was thinking like "they should place it higher for it to be walker proof".... and later on they said zombie proof XD
Perfect! By the time you find a right spot get that tree tent up, the ground tent folks will be packing up to leave from the weekend.
It works with any three points. Pay attention.
No shit. The three points need to be aligned with you exact person, party and weight size.
In fact, the ground people would be taking more time clearing the ground trying to eliminate all the rocks...
akatsukiawsome13 I suppose that's possible too.
B Michaels Anything is~
But yeah, it actually takes less time to set up, because there are fewer poles... Camping is harder work than most realize lololol
The biggest weakness of the hammock is the temperature, you have to insulate underneath yourself in a way that doesn't compress the insulation. However the strength is you don't have to take heavy poles.
This item neatly creates an experience that gets to involve both the heavy weight of the poles and the lack of good insulation of the hammock.
how does this is beter insulated from cold comming from down than hamock?
It doesn't, which is why I sarcastically said this product is the worst of both worlds.
David Geronazzo
Thats what I thod..cos I remmember my homeless times and sleeping some nights in hamock-and that was worst than sleeping on bare ground man-earth in that sense atleast insulates and at night can feel returning heat taken at day..was not shore if youre beeing sarcastic or theese tents have something They are not saying in video-like supermaterial discovered in space research...lol
Over all quite a good idea, though as we all know the worst place to be in a lightning storm is under a tree....or attached to one.
Why is waist height ideal for bear country? Won't the bear just bump into you if she stands up? Shouldn't it go higher?
No more water or snakes in your tent.. :)) Really nice, I want one of these.
I want one but it's $800 ha I can get me 3 to 4 bedroom tent with that money, cool but too expensive
Agree. If the price point gets around $300 I'd pick one up.
I've seen original quotes for $1350/tentsile.
arturo montanez me and my lady found 11 person for 230.00

"People love hammocks, but in a hammock, you can only spend a few hours, then you get cold or wet or whatever, then you have to pack up and go home."
If that's your experience, then you're either doing it wrong, or you're a real candy ass.
bushputz he wouldn’t have that problem if he just got a tarp or roughed it out
I just realized that was 4 years ago nice to meet you past person

My initial thought of improving this would to make a floor underneath with adjustable legs to accommodate different levels of ground. The adjustable legs could be aluminum 2"X2" posts, 2 sections that can expand up to 8ft. The sagging of the floor with 4 adults was a lot. The floor, either made of plywood or fiberglass that can be folded somehow for storage. I love the idea and I am thinking of purchasing one. My floor idea will definitely be tried out. Thanks for the video......great idea!
Props for the idea and creation.
looksw like a lot of work to me. ive been camping at least once a month since i was a kid and all i can say is godbless the pop up nowadays lol couldnt be arsed with all that. the pop up has made me lazy i suppose lol
So you can sit under it and block the wind or rain off of you.
sagisgems Well when it's not raining you can take off the outer sheet and it's all mesh
Hennessey Hammock. That is all.
sagisgems
Avoid camping on the floor for what exactly? Protection against bears? I can assure you the tent in this video is no where near elevated enough to protect them from any real threat. They better hope nothing happens to any of the tension straps while they're sleeping either; or there goes 4 broken necks. lol.
Is the elevation going to protect you from tarantulas or something? Because spiders/ants/snakes etc love hanging out on trees, and guess what your tent is secured to. A direct tether to doom!
So do you need a rain fly? If the top is water proof, does it breath? Condensation problems maybe?
Wandering Wade At least 2 air vents against condensation ! Soo cool.
I will call it a tree pod
It would be warmer and dryer because you are off the ground, but a pain trying to find the right place with trees that are going to work. It also works as a cover for your camping gear and stuff you take camping.
Wow!
This is so cool.
Those are good for environments where snakes and scorpions are abundant.
Great a hole in the middle to take a dump
Wouldn't it be much easier to just put the Tent on the ground ?
+Aussie Outlaw the ground is wet and cold many times, also the ground is hard for sleeping. there is also the risk of animals when on the ground. spiders, bears, scorpions, snakes. i hope that answers your question.
+gooni goo goo that's probably why people think it would be good for zombies
+gooni goo goo what about bears/animals that will get under the tent and stab you with claws like freddy kruger?
+Bonit Put it up higher?
Beastly Sheep But then you would need a ladder to get up in the tent, and we all know that bears actually can climb ladders(without joking).
I think this would be very useful for jungle camping so you can be off the ground and there are plenty of trees!
Yeah, call it "UFT",
Unidentifying Flying Tents
You state that people in hammocks get cold and wet and leave camp early. WRONG What you have here is basically a large hammock that is difficult to shelter from the rain and to insulate whereas hammocks have been designed with underquilts, overquilts, bug nets, and complete cocoon rain/sun tarps. Hammock campers have been camping in -40 degree weather with wind, rain, and snow comfortably (MINUS 40F) while carrying minimal gear. This set up is strictly for heavy equipment carrying camping and you have not designed it for easy insulation from cold or protection from bad weather. It is a nice set up for family car camping but your claim that this is better than a hammock for reasons of cold and wet is just the opposite of the truth.
i fully agree
+Ed noyb Sailors in warships had hammocks for centuries; go see HMS Victory.
Why is this a reply to my comment? I agree with this comment but I never claimed otherwise.
I typically set mine up around 20ft up and it take me 10 mins with one other. not for everyone but defiantly would recommend it.
austin rouse I would like to se you out mid winter in one I have my amok in anything down to -10c and I'm never cold admit it the tentsile is a gimmick not a serious camping set up
"Feels organic"
I love that these have a weight limit of 820 lbs big guys like myself can still enjoy having one of these.
You can hang your gear from a mesh bag under the center opening or get a bigger one and put all your gear into one of the hammock spaces.all in all a fantastic idea.I don't understand all the haters and why they don't understand the brilliance of the design.
I'm sorry but what problem is this solving?
I guess you have to look at it as a performance... This summarize all the problems of the other ways to camp in one item without having any of their advantages (except the bug net).
So it doesn't work without trees?
+RedRock3t82 Thank you for replying to my witty comment with an interesting piece of rhetoric. I hope I made you laugh.
The trees are included on the package.
Technically you're right toreresmilochomil, every tent purchased they plant 3 trees. Lol
What if someone comes from underneath you and stabs you with a knife
jeffer I was thinking about the same thing. The killers in slasher movies have never had it easier than this. Just stab from below, or cut the middle, let them drop down and watch them squirm in panic.
and all the blood would pool and drip down in the middle so your crime scene doesnt get too big.
That does NOT look like a very comfortable sleeping position.
Try a normal tent on a hilly and stony surface.
Try this with 2 trees only...
me gusta...yo quiero uno......
exactly how is this great for bear country ? he does not live in Canada does he ? trust me this is not great for living in bear country
it isnt great for living in any country really, seems like it doesn't work unless you have 3 trees at an adequate space away from you, i also dont see how this is easier than setting up a normal tent.
TOTAL MATERIAL COSTS - $350(kinda pricey but amazing value relative to finished product)
SIZE - everything will fit in a mid to large day pack. built - 7x4ft floor, 7ft high tent ridge
WEIGHT - roughly 35Lbs in the pack
any questions on specs or details just ask in the reply section. Enjoy!

jhughes19851 Actually, they said they could put it higher, it's just a bit more difficult.
Well, how can a bear reach you...if you are high off the ground, suspended between trees? They could climb one of the trees and chew the suspension cables... but why would they bother, they aren't meat flavored.
wow those tents looks super nice
That is one of the coolest things I have ever seen! Wow. I want one.
It would be easy to see which people were having sex in their tents
Ahhaha!
Best to engage the little grey cell before you open your big mouth. . .
A two person tent cot is $600 and is EXTREMELY bulky and heavy.
Built my own for a long while ago...but nice to see that it's produced as well.☺
they need to add some screen material to the bottom so it hangs down and you have a screen tent under it. This thing is cool!
Oh my goodness! What a waste time and energy THAT little project is !!
Skylite
This is great, off the ground is the best way to camp. I love this thing. I suggest, "The Tri-Tent Hammock;" a wot?
Looks like a very nice sent up
Great construction, more venting /for the outdoor airy feeling.
I like it, its better than sleeping on the ground, and being a former Army Infantryman with experience sleeping out in the elements.
awesome idea keep running with it! windows a must !
totally fantastic Alex
to make life easier to put your straps into the trees first use a finer throwing rope with a small heavy weight this is attached to your big straps my friend uses this technique to get ropes high up into jungle trees for hoisting up camera equipment.
great idea. wish I had the $700 for one. if I did I would sooooo buy one of these. great job guys
vaguely reminiscent of George Pal’s “WAR OF THE WORLDS movie from 1950 with its scary creatures floating through the air zapping everyone.
Really good invention. Good job guys keep it up keep moving forward.😆👍
These are the coolest things ever!!!
