I own both the Tentsile Trillium and the Stingray. I do this (Stack) all the time at our cabin in northern Minnesota. I don't add the sidewalls as the location is too windy. But, to make it even more crazy fun, we put up 3 slacklines about 2' above the ground, between the same trees that are holding the tents. Then we add hammocks ABOVE the Stingray tent which is accessible by stepping on the Stingray straps. And, to finish it off, we connect an Air Chair to one end of the Trillium hammock, which will hang (seat area) about 3' above the ground at a corner. Our Trillium is about 6' above the ground, the Stingray about 9' above the ground. Our guests, both young and old, thoroughly enjoy our "Ewok Camp". Kudos to Tentsile for making an amazing product. Those guys are the best! (we have 2 Stingrays and 1 Trilluim mesh hammock). Enjoy!!!
The Mr., sorry to read the negative comments, as a visionary all I see is potentional. Love wratchet cargo straps and the bottom 3 point. I would add a hammock or two on top. The bottom could be used for store and/or its own stand alone system. The tent would be brilliant for the kids, teens, and for rest. it's all about the possibilities, mate.
Not sure why everyone is hating on this. It's obviously not a "backpacking" tent. It's not designed to be lightweight or even practical in most situations. However it is very awesome and as a hammock camper i find this absolutely fascinating and plan on purchasing one in the near future. It is quite expensive and heavy but if you plan on camping for a week (like avid campers are apt to do sometimes) this is actually pretty genius. You are off the ground, You are comfortable with minimal if any bedding, Your kids will love it, and you are pretty much guaranteed to have the most interesting setup in the campground.
The negativity in the comments, geeze. It's just a fun concept of a tent that you're clearly not going to use on a serious expedition it's just for a bit of family fun and I think its great stacking it up like that too is a great idea!
Despite the harsh comments I think this is an awesome car camping setup. If you had kids they would think this is the best thing in the world. You would all get great memories from this and the ones for the kids would be priceless. Seems like people here are afraid of doing anything harder than 10 minutes work. Its worth it for a life time of memories and are they forgetting what tents used to be like. This is like treehouse to a kid. I think once you had this setup it would be totally worth it. Especially for 2-3 days or especially a week. It looks great, lazy people don't worry you don't have to buy one.
To those asking 'why' I posit bugs and ground cover. If you can't find a good clear and even spot to pitch your tent (like, say the side of a hill or in a marsh), or if there are a lot of dangerous critters about, this would be a great thing to have. Even in a regular camp ground, it could be a great way to get some sheltered space underneath; perhaps for a kitchen, office and/or storage. Think of it as a two or three story tent. I personally don't have any use for it, but it is a great system that would be great for hunting, research and low or no impact camping.
Thoughtful, fun, great concept. No practical adventure use.....especially for weight ratio. How would one go in and out when there are 2 others relaxing inside.
I love how so many people have negative comments. Do you really think anyone gives af that you think it's dumb and takes too long? To use your own words, "why bother" commenting?
Great video! Love the idea of trees. Question: Can you use a Jetboil in this? I like to cook indoors due to wind, and want to make sure balance isn't an issue.
Michael Crawford no never use a stove within a tent especially a gas stove, the gas can build up if you dont light it fast enough. you must cook outside of the tent

It looks like a nice system if you an find the right tree configuration. However, it appears to be overly complicated for the benefit it would provide.
I think It looks cooler than it really is, I somethimes find it difficult to hang a hammock because the trees are to close or far.. so it must be impossible to find the perfect spot for that tent. You could do your own app with the places you can put this device. I´ve seen one app to park van´s for free so you maybe lucky and make some extra bucks. On the other hand It is quite annoying when you are sleeping and someone moves..
Handy. The higher up the tree you attach the device, the greater the pressure pulling the trees inward and the farther the fall. So in a heavy, drenching rainfall that weakens root stability by softening the soil, this system can serve as an efficient three-man body bag when on (or two or three) of the trees topple in and crush the campers. Make sure you pile in your. biggest friends on both levels. Convenient. Is there a link so a helicopter can attach a hefty carabiner to hoist all the carnage out at once?
How much weight are these rated for? I'd like to set one up in my back yard but I know people will want in lol so gotta make sure it's safe before my daughter and every child in the neighborhood try to get in
exactly right apart of flood, but if you can find nice dry/ not flooded place where is the point? for safety is not much bettar if is not much higher. in this position can be still reached by grizzly bear :)
Alexander Bondestam no its not. Ton is an imperial weight measurement system of which there are 2 systems-british and american Tonne is metric system and is exactly 1000Kgs or 1,000,000grams,the gram being the standard unit measure for metric system. Civilised countries use the metric system because it is far more logical. Most militaries use metrics, especially for ballistics as computers work better in metric as well
Guys this is not for a camp. This is more for a nice outdoor bed for your back yard or cottage or backyard camping tent. it's more of a permenent tent kinda thing to keep.
Yes, I agree. I own 2 Tentsile Stingrays, takes me 10 minutes to put one up. Faster if I choose to move faster. I'm a 58 year old gal. Love these! I put one up about 15 feet high in our woods at the beginning of spring (overlooking lake!) and my youngest son (23) loves to sleep in it! I love it as well. I have sewn a ladder with wide seatbelt webbing. Works like a charm!
it's an instructural video..... the guy is setting up on his own insurance have one of these tents it takes 2 people maybe 10min from start to finish sleeping in tent is totally different experience from ground camping 😎
What is the point of having the dark one underneath the tent? And if you're going to bother putting it up in a tree I would put it up high enough so that Bears or whatever couldn't grab it looking for a tasty snack as they walk by.
If you're camping and a bear rips your throat out while you are sleeping it's most likely because you have food or toiletries in or near the tent or prepared food near the tent. Either way, you're an idiot. If you think a wildcat is going to come kill you in the night, you need to lay off the hallucinogens.
Maybe that would be logical if you were camping at a campsite but as someone who camps 10s of miles out from anyone else in the middle of the woods it seems like it would be nice to not have to worry about people getting in, animals messing with you, or having to clear the ground. There have been plenty of times where I was messed with by smalls animals and a few times where there have been bears, cats(The mean kind) near by that scared the living shit outta me.

Those big ratchet straps are heavy; the assembled units have a large area to catch the wind; and separate sheets for sides and top are likely to leave gaps for wind, rain and bugs. I don't see any worthwhile advantage over a decent tent.

so many haters. this looks fun as hell
I just ordered one. This is Awesome. Can't wait to hang it in South point park Miami beach Fl
Cool, 1 foot flood comes rolling in, you'd be acting like a BOSS at the water flow below! I love it!

@@mildridj3423 "A lot of work"... This Isn't
Yea I don't get the negativity. If you don't like it don't use it.
Would be awesome for a drive to camp site you are staying a couple of nights.

Cool, the three point tentsile webbing reminds me a little bit on a kind of trampoline project I have seen in an old cooling tower.
Though this setup appears tedious and requires a lot area space, the experience of camping in a shelter like that seems quite fun.
Is there a model that comes with trees? I often camp where there aren't any.
Tentsile tree tents have the option to be pitched on the ground like a regular tent as well.
I guess it is not that cool after all
I was about to say... that ratchet crap would have to go..
Trey Horton

Just plant the trees, wait a while, and then construct the tent! It isn't that hard is it?
Mr. Jones, a most excellent question, and request.
Now, let's see how the "experts", the bushcraft ones, answer!
To those asking 'why' I posit bugs and ground cover. muchas gracias por compartir muy linda... felicidades

Cool. I camped most of my life. This looks cool.
Cool looking tent
Very cool and very helpful. Thanks!
By the time I got that set up, it would be time to go home. Really cool, though!!!
cere tomer ,lol
Aeeeeeesome, this is really cool and being off the ground makes it even better, really love it. And Tyson Judd is right 😄😄😂😂😂
Very cool I'm definitely gonna have to get one of these.
Great video, as to the time it takes to set it up, i bet he can do it really fast after doing it so many times.
Nice set up, do you normally use broader tree straps to prevent the narrow 100mm webbing cutting into the bark?
This was also a concern of mine.
They sell accessories that are for protecting the trees if you want.
And then a man comes around and says : "Sorry lad, can't camp here, private property...."
LOL
Berke Beenhouwer omg haha

Hey Great Video 👏 How has the Tentsile held up since you made this?
I like it!
Can you give me complete list of products used in video?
Hi,
The Tentsile Stingray Tent & Tentsile Trillium are used in this video.
thx for info
having trouble finding the walls you used. Any recommendation for where to shop for them?
Hi, we are expecting new stock in soon. Keep checking our Tentsile page here for when they arrive: www.webtogs.com/en-UK/Tenstile-Tree-Tents/714wb.htm
do its a tent suspended over a trampoline
Nice item, but what a lot of setup time for something with such a low profile.
These are awesome...I just wish they weren't so ridiculously expensive.

Hilarious! You've earned my thumbs up!
How much did all this cost you ???

How much weight are these rated for? I'd like to set one up in my back yard but I know people will want in lol so gotta make sure it's safe before my daughter and every child in the neighborhood try to get in
The tent up top holds 850 lbs. or something like that, same for the hammock.
How far apart does the trees need to be?
John jtechie any distance that is longer then 4.5 meters if i remember correctly
cool I want one were do you get one

I feel like I'm one of a few people here that actually like the design
He's done that once or twice... First time setting up the Stingray took me A LOT longer xD Love it though. I slept like a brick.
looks really fun, but quite a lot of work!
wooowwwwww..... ...
So if the tree takes a hit from lightening, what is the likelihood of surviving in this kind of tent?
the lightening cant hit you because it wont be able to pass through the fabric . if the tree falls then you're in trouble
Odds of such a shocking death go down as the number of trees goes up.
Guys this is not for a camp. This is more for a nice outdoor bed for your back yard or cottage or backyard camping tent. it's more of a permenent tent kinda thing to keep.

This is also good for long term expeditions or scientific studies, especially where it is more safe to be off the ground... especially rainforests
have just planted 3 trees in the perfect position for this... and now we wait (likely for decades)
+followupshot the ratchet system allows all kinds of trees to be used. They don't have to be in perfect position.
That was a lot of work to do.!
Мы трудностей не боимся, мы их создаём.!
how the hell did you get in it???
Not something you stuff in your backpack is it ?
Looks like a Car-Camping gimmick. You could put it on your sled if you winter camping though I suppose. To much work though.
you need to take an extra holiday just to set it up.. it looks cool.. But it takes ages to set up..
I think it would be a lot easier to use cam buckle straps.Either way this is like a backpack full of straps. Probably not a good system for long hike.
What stops three people all rolling together into the middle? Itwould be almost like sleeping on a trampoline.
Man that's quite a bit of work, people go camping to relax!! I think you would all end up in the middle anyway!

But why?
Maybe safer if there are dangerous wildlife like wildcats or bears that will rip your throat out while sleeping.
If you're afraid of that when camping, you're a fucking idiot.
TheRebelEye Yeah, because we all know we go out camping to die.
If you're camping and a bear rips your throat out while you are sleeping it's most likely because you have food or toiletries in or near the tent or prepared food near the tent. In serious expeditions , after 5 days raining it is no plase for usual tent
Do they make those in all-camo for stealth? I don't like blaze orange... it attracts hunters. ;-}
i can see myself doing so many stupid things in one of these. would be pretty cool to hang it like 20ft off the ground.

Please tell me you're kidding and that I'm the butt of your joke. Hahahahaha!!!
Too much work to get it done. what if you need to get it setup or remove it in a quick scenario?
...Why would you go through all this work? You could have built a house with a basement and in ground swimming pool in less time and work.
nope
Setup is a lot quicker when you aren't doing an instructional video. It can likely be done in 30 minutes.
exactly right apart of flood, but if you can find nice dry/ not flooded place where is the point? for safety is not much bettar if is not much higher.
But the video is 13 minutes ;)
It is too much work compared to any regular tent or tarp setup
nice but need a lot off space.look also much work.
It’s a fun idea I like when there’s a few tied together. It’s a safe place from bears or wolves.
