When he started to deliberatly misspell the title, as if that has anything to do with critizism, I was done with this imposter of a critic.
im really confused at why they think ignoring the older fanbase is a good idea when making this movie, do they for got the reason why its popular in the first place? They instead making it for the audience that doesnt even exist and will probably not watch the movie anyway

Grace Randolph has a deep understanding of the inner workings of the film industry and the production process. However, when it comes to the films themselves, she has repeatedly proven to have a negative cinematic IQ.
The way you made it seem like grace PRAISED the film, is a bit dramatic💀the way you put her in the thumbnail, I thought she said it was a 10/10. But, it was pretty fair. I don’t think her review was even positive. She was like I like blanchette, but the movie is…a movie💀
I would say that giving this movie a 0% shows that critics lack objectivity. 0% is an absurd score, and this movie is not 0%. Judging by the trailers, good work was done at least with some of the production and costumes... that alone means it could be worse, therefore isn't zero. If you look at Roger Eberts' long catalog of movie critiques, only one movie did he ever give a score equivalent to 0%, and that was to Human Centipede. He goes into detail about how it was really just recorded disgust, not art or film, so he didn't rate it. This movie, at least takes a baby step towards art... so that is worth something. Critics today aren't qualified and are ego driven. It's all very silly.
Hey, this might be a weird take on the cast, but each character just feels like a friend or fan of the ones they’re supposed to be. Like, I could totally picture Jack Black’s Claptrap being a completely different claptrap unit who would butt heads with the real one. Or Ariana Greenblatt’s Tiny Tina actually being a kid who’s friends with Tina and is trying to imitate her oddities poorly. See what I mean? It weirdly fits.🤷♂️
Grace Randolph is up there with TheMysteriousMrEnter or The Critical Drinker in that she shouldn’t even be classed as a professional critic as she spews some of the worst takes when it comes to movies and entertainment in general.
I don't "fan cast", but I'd like to cast people who would be more appropriate for the role. Anyway, most fan casting just stems from "hey, that actor looks like that character" and nothing else. Seriously, I never really hear "what that actor's range is" conversations. Mostly just "they look the part". I think Borderlands could've benefited with mostly no named actors. Or probably two or three of the actors from The Boys. At least cast someone who's close to the age of the character. I think Kevin Hart was mis-casted as Roland. Not because he's short but Roland is moreso the "least comedic" of the Borderlands characters. Even if he's funny, it's a little more nuanced than "laugh out loud". But, the biggest part that bugged me is just Cate and Jamie as Lilith and Tannis. It'd make sense if Tannis is older because she's a scientist. Since Borderlands 1, I assumed she was somewhere mid-30s to early 40s. However, Lilith is definitely younger but I would say late 20s to early 30s.
Borderlands is the last game I loved and the only one I was ever moved to pay for DLC before giving up on games altogether (I'm old...really old). Didn't even know this was coming out. No interest in watching it , and I saw Furiosa twice!
@fotzegamingandmedia1840 That's just a title for this series of videos I make to spotlight people who call themselves critics but are terrible at their job. There are legitimate great critics still out there so it's not completely dead.
Oh, man! Grifter Joe is breaking my heart! Furiosa bombed because they tried to shove a female hero in a male-based franchise. I mean, a Mad Max movie without Mad Max is not a winning formula. Borderlands is a franchise with strong female characters already! They should had cast younger, hot looking females to bring in the young audiences. And I'm not being masogistic here, just think about this. There are tons of female pop-stars out there who embrace their sexyness and age, and make tons of money using their femininity as empowerment, Borderland should had done the same. Get young, hot female actresses to play the roles! You have Dua Lipa, Tylor Swift, Byonce, Adriana Grande, they are all dancing and singing in sexy outfits and nobody accuse them of being exploited for their bodies. Why didn't this movie do the same? By the way, I'm not saying this is the only problem with this movie, I'm just referring to Grifter Joe's comment at the end. Thanks for the great video sir!
@@REELSHIFT Furiosa was great, it just came out at a time when the woke movement had rub people the wrong way. I would say Furiosa is to Mad Max, what Red Sonia was to Conan. Grace Randolph will support any movie with a high level of estrogen even the senior kind so I'm not surprised she would like this movie considering the fact that it has two older girlbosses.
it honestly wasn't horrible, alot of people jump on the "hate the movie" band waggon because now you look dumb if you aren't in the trend of hating it. it's not 100% game lore, bit it had sooooo many things from the game in it, it really was fun haha

Randolph will never trash a movie that ticks "important" checkboxes. Here it is "older actresses in traditional masculine roles". In my opinion all critics who defend this POS do it because of this ideological point.

I love Toy Story 2. Is it on the same "artistic" levels of Christopher Nolan's movies? No, but it's still well written and proves that kids' movies can have creative and well written storytelling. And speaking of TS2, all this bull about not giving contructive criticism because for some reason people see it as being a jerk, if Pixar hadn’t listened to the valid criticism of Woody being a conplete dick in the first movie draft, then we'd never had gotten an amazing franchise. How can those people forget that valid criticism is important?!🤦♀️
Even the movies that you turn your brain off inorder to enjoy them gotta be somehow entertaining and out of the box , this one however was bland and lame and had nothing but " How do you do fellow kids" vibes , absolute cringefest, Eli Roth used to think he's the next Tarantino, now he thinks he's the next James Gunn
Cate Blanchett is caked with so much makeup, she could be anywhere from 35-50 in this role. I don't want her age to become an issue to where she can't ever play a sexy woman... Go watch Sigourney Weaver in Heartbreakers. Women in their 50's and 60's can still be sexy. Just ask Dame Helen Mirin. I understand this is a very vain industry, With the maybe 5-10 years she has left of her physique and beauty. I say, Cash in hon, play some sexy heroines while you can. More power to you. You did a nice job in this movie.
I'm not a big fan of Grace Randolph, but I think it is pretty low hanging fruit to mock her for this. I love the comedy All About Steve. In my opinion it is one of the funniest movies. I was shocked to see it has a 6% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes. I can respect someone who genuinely says they love a film even when it goes against the popular opinion. Vice versa, I am also not a fan of The Godfather, even though everyone calls it a masterpiece. Sure, I can see why it is regarded so highly, but I just don't like the film. It is okay to like what you like.
@mark4163 She doesn't give a reason for why she liked it other than "I like Cate Blanchett" as an actress... I'm not mocking people people who liked the movie I'm mocking a supposed "critic" who can't give me a valid reason why she gave this movie a positive score
Well I like Cate Blanchett in the gift. Can't really see what that has to do with whether Borderlands is a good movie or not, though. Illogical way of thinking
Exactly. No matter how skilled and talented, for example, Cate Blanchett is as an actor, it can't save Borderlands if it's simply a bad movie. I generally think Grace Randolph says things where my reaction is - what does that have to do with anything?.
Eli Roth and Rob Zombie need to take some film school classes. This would help them Greatly. Fans tend to want to like their stuff but it can be tough with the output. And Zombie is kinda screwed cause he has to put his wife in all his movies in a main role ....or else.

The game series sold 77 million copies. Game translation into movies and series has always been hard. The main problem is that people making the movie or series have no idea about the game so they never get what made the game popular.

I disagree completely. These projects are to be taken as entertainment or art. IF you even watched Borderlands, you will find things you enjoy about the movie. To me it's actually hard to just hate a movie. They have to do something Bad to piss you off. For instance Last Jedi Lukes Journey to me was mishandled. I hate that movie, 12 years a slave they make the characters say horrible things to each other (The N Word) I felt disrespected, I hate that fuggin movie. Borderlands I liked the colors, I like the Robot, I like Tiny Tina, I liked Kreig. I thought Jamie Lee Curtis was HORRIBLE in this movie. Yet I am not pissed and the movie get an It's ok from me. It has some neat moments and some good acting. In Summation. There is most often some value or entertainment from these different art projects. It's so easy just to call things bad or good. I think UA-cam and channels like these are part of the problem as well. We have this guy saying this is BAD this movie is BAD.. It's like yeah it's bad to you, I don't really care if you like it or not. I am going to watch it and rate it for myself. Borderlands 6.7/10 It was alright. Yeah you said it right there too Many Grifters on Yourtube. Have your own opinions.
@SeekingGodsWill Yeah this is not really about whether you or I liked the movie... It's about supposed critics making it about things other than the movie itself & being dismissive of people who might criticize it. So I'm not sure what you are disagreeing with. I think you missed the point.
@@REELSHIFT Maybe I did. Everyone says this movie is bad. So I was expecting it to live up to the negative hype. When I put it on, I was like what is all the hate about? It's not even that bad. This movie is universally hated on the internet. Grace came out and said it's ok and Cate Blanchett was good I don't think I missed the point as much as you didn't really make a good point or it's just rather confusing.
@SeekingGodsWill I think you are confusing hate with criticism. Also the video is literally broken up into three parts looking at 3 different "positive" reviews of the film that either don't really offer anything of substance or they are somehow turning it into blaming the audience and not the movie. Yeah, no problem, let's time travel.") and the worst character treatment of all time (sacrifice sequence of Arrow vs Widow where they turned this tragic event into a shitshow of - who is more skilled to sacrifice himself - FUCK YOU).
These two movies are incredibly bad but really good looking ... so beautiful.
And then you have wannabe critics like "The Critical Stinker" or "Turbrotic", who just trash talk on everything that remotly doesn't hit their taste. As for "The Critical Stinker" who started out promising but soon got consumed by his popularity I unsubscribed with the release of his shit talk about the TV show "Robyn Hood" where his main "critizism" consisted of how much he doesn't like anything about and the fact that the show did not have super crazy character development at episode 1.

I find it hilarious that the critics who hated The Super Mario Bros Movie last year for not being intellectual enough and just being “brainless fun” are the same ones defending Borderlands saying that “not everything needs to achieve high art or be super intellectual”.
Boarder land is a great movie to take a date for the first 10min before making out. Even better if it’s in a drive in.

Grace Randolph has a deep understanding of the inner workings of the film industry and the production process. However, when it comes to the films themselves, she has repeatedly proven to have a negative cinematic IQ.
@@DIDI.TITI777 Clearly lol
The way you made it seem like grace PRAISED the film, is a bit dramatic💀the way you put her in the thumbnail, I thought she said it was a 10/10. But, it was pretty fair. I don’t think her review was even positive. She was like I like blanchette, but the movie is…a movie💀
@@aleco444 What was fair? She didn't say anything of substance... How are people this dense?

@carlosangel3647 Appreciate you! I actually love Furiosa but I understand why some people were turned off by it.
@@REELSHIFT Furiosa was great, it just came out at a time when the woke movement had rub people the wrong way.
I would say Furiosa is to Mad Max, what Red Sonia was to Conan. In another time it would had done a lot better than it did. I would even go as far as to say, that the woke movement did Furiosa wrong by robbing it from the chance of making good money at the box office.

Toy Story 2 is levels above Nolans movies. He isn't as genius as his fans claim he is.
“Grace Randolph is Content”
That’s a condescending comment by the way.
Your Rotten Tomatoes low score is safe , Mindy Kaling ! 😅😊

Well I like Cate Blanchett in the gift. Can't really see what that has to do with whether Borderlands is a good movie or not, though. Illogical way of thinking
@allanjensen2587 Yes I like many actors who have been in bad movies

Film school teaches formulas. There are two types of movies. Tough or predictable. Right now predictable is winning when it comes to theater movies.

On a real note, I'm tired of seeing people attacking critics just because they like a movie that critics don't. You're allowed to like something that critics don't. Critics look for different things than general audiences most of the time.
