What ive learned about limbus company. Is that no matter how many "broken" characters I pull ill still get gapped by every new boss because i cant read.
I would like to be clear about something. A pity system isn't a positive, a pity system is not a game dev actually taking pity. They have done studies, it has been proven that if you add a pity system more people will spend more money, it is just another system designed to lure you into spending your money.
I mean, I would rather have a huarantee to get a 5 star after 90 pulls than be left with the same 0.03% chance of getting one regardless of how many times I pull
11:37 I somehow have 2115 hours in this game and I have not spend a penny and I will probably never will since being f2p is just natural for me at this point
Hello, it’s me, the person who commented about brawl stars in the sniper video number 3682. In the start of 2023 brawl stars removed all brawl boxes from the game making every bit of progression a 100% transparent to the player (except cosmetics which were also quickly changed to have zero luck in the following few updates). This change was wildly regarded as one of the best changed brawl stars has done since no one really likes gambling in video games. However this change basically tanked the player retention for most of the player base, almost killing the game. Fast forward to today where brawl stars has reintroduced gatcha systems back to their game(it is still definitely a better system before 2023 thankfully but it’s nowhere close to what it could’ve been) and regularly holds limited time gatcha events with FOMO and kinda just scummy offers. And this basically made the game one of the biggest and most profitable mobile game right now, surpassing player numbers that haven’t even been seen in its global release five years after its initial release. Moral of the story is… Idk kids suck or something I miss when a mobile game was brave enough to remove gambling.
For the sake of talking about Limbus Company as a Certified Project Moon Fan TM, if the overpowered character your talking about is Ting Tang Hong Lu as you showed in the graphic then you wont be blowing through too much, the early game is just very easy which is unfortunate when compared their other games. In general Limbus is just a much easier game, you will unlock most of the actually difficult content after progressing through most of the current story. Ting Tang Hong Lu's power nowadays biggest strength is his support passive which can be applied to MUCH stronger ids to make them incredibly busted. It has been said best that Limbus company is a gacha game created by people who don't know how to make gacha games, which makes it much much friendlier than the rest. Along with the usual Project Moon jank lmao. To avoid going into extreme detail about how the game lets you circumvent the gacha mechanic entirely I can talk about the support system. You are allowed to add "friends" to your account and then you can use the ids they've put in their company, this allows someone who either A: Doesn't want to interact with the gacha or B: Doesn't like the gameplay to blow through the gameplay with overpowered ids to experience the games best part, the STORY. That concludes the obligatory Project Moon rant

He's still a very good unit fwiw (unlike some heathcliffs). Ting tang was my +1 to my bleed team in canto 7 because he had the kit and right sins. Not the best but he's up there.
TTHL is one of the better 000's through his ludicrously good damage and pretty good clashing but he has very odd conditionals to set up (his skill 2 in fights with larger individual health pools is crazy though) what with mutilate being a base 5 power AND needing an on kill for it to go off, if something is resistant to slash or pierce TTHL is going to be a bit of a letdown because he offers nothing to bleed as a status in terms of potency/count. overall a very balanced but definitely strong unit thats meant to be a nuke in exchange for low team interaction. good stuffs
i mean ok but i'm not going to play a different game just because its gambling system is less predatory, that would indeed be putting gambling in front of gaming. I'm going to play genshin because I enjoy the exploring and the music, the fighting and the theorycrafting of entire teams, and the collecting of my favorites. I also try to reduce the predatory aspect by saving for very long stretches of time until it's basically not gambling anymore since i know i'm 100% getting what i want. However I do agree that the greediness in terms of time has pulled me away from other games that I enjoy a lot but get a sour taste from because I feel the need to make sure that I'm farming everything i can everyday so that my saving is optimal, yeah that's not so good :/
I've been a F2P Zenless Zone Zero player since release and I've been simply enjoying myself just playing for no more than 20 minutes a day since the only characters I care for, the male characters, are few and far in-between.
I would never engage in gambling, but I am fine with spending money on gacha games, because the two differences there are actually quite substantial. 1. In gacha games there is usually a pity that tells you when you will have a 50/50 chance and when you will win guaranteed. 2. The fact that you are not winning money ever makes it so that you will not spiral in deep and chase your loses, you know you are gonna lose money and no way to get it back, and you know how much it will prob cost and 3. u are winning waifus.
On the topic of rare in-game drops, in EarthBound all of your party members has legendary equipment that can only be dropped by certain enemies 1/176 of the time. This is pretty nuts when one of the party members has their ONLY weapon in the entire game obtainable from these rare drops, AND if you progress too far into that enemy's location, you can miss out on the fabled Sword of Kings.
I get where you're coming from, especially for other gachas, but limbus company specifically feels a bit out of context with some points left out. The game is a very mature game (not the waifu and coomer bait) and is supposed to be 18+, but I guess its aged for 15+ for some apps? Anyways the game literally has a wall of text (I'm not sure if its only seen in a trailer or before screenshots) displaying all of the dark themes in the game. The game can be easy at first, but can be hard to get into for a first time player to catch up, but the game allows the option for grinding by doing the dungeons and daily quests where you can eventually just get the character you want. and I believe someone also mentioned the support/friend system where you can freely use friends built-up characters with no penalties. Personally as someone who's been sticking with project moon games for 8 years and was also initially skeptical of the gacha system. This game is such a fresh air for a gacha game that doesn't feel predatory or spamming deals and packages when you log in every day. If(but moderation is still very important) Also if you do consider to keep playing, you won't regret it because the story is the most important and best part of the game.
I agree, i remember when i got into lobotomy i was skeptical on limbus, then i fell in love with ruina, then after ruina got into limbus and was like “hey! This plays just like ruina…oh god it plays just like ruina!” Me recalling the hell I went through in ruina. The story even managed to actually make me cry. Also feel anger at a fictional character just through story with wonderful and challenging combat. I still love those moments where it’s like “ok, no more autopilot mode, it’s panic time.”
I feel called out... These 3 are the gacha games I'm playing. Also the rest of the arguments perfectly reasonable, i really dislike seeing younger people play these kind of games but then i think about it and realize that there's little change for them to find games that don't try to manipulate them
Worst thing I've ever done was to farm a boss in an MMORPG for a best in slot item. It was an overworld boss with a respawn time of a little over a hour. I'm never playing an mmo like that again. It was fun, but also a waste of time.
Low RNG is bad either way, whether you're paying for gacha with real money or just grinding for a specific legendary weapon in Borderlands 2 to Monster Hunter Rise RNG Augment system in endgame for your perfect build. I hate both. It is just a way to drag out the gameplay time.
Okay but but i really miss lootboxes in overwatch, fuck the shop man I played so many hours of overwatch 1 without buying a single lootbox and it was so nice to get one every level lol
I've been playing gachas for a good part of I would say 6 years now? Fully agree with your take, gachas can be fun but fundamentally you can't say without any bias that gacha mechanics benefit anyone besides the company and microtransactions and gambling mechanics imo have only gotten worse from the original Bethesda horse armor/ Overwatch lootbox which I honestly prefer over Overwatch 2 joke of a battle pass system and shop at launch at least. There are some models that are more f2p friendly than others like Azur Lane or Arknights which offer a way to get every character without much FOMO Azur lane basically guarantees you every new character and monotizes via skins and marriage mechanic and Arknights gacha system allows you to use other means to obtain characters and you can always get every character just by saving and summoning on the best anniversary banner that features all the limited units. Unfortuanately most of them are very predatory and made out to squeeze as much money as it can be perfect example imo is Genshin system with a bunch of complicated mechanics all designed so it is as grindy as it can be and as annoying as it can be for you and if you miss a unit you like well you're fucked because that character will never get a rerun in the foreseeable future, it's not like it will get added to a general pull of limited 5* character not even counting the weapons which is a disaster in itself of gambling, with the expansion of their games it also seems that they are planning so people that do play mihoyo games only play their games by spacing them out perfectly which is a natural choice so they can milk as much as they can out of their playerbase. The standard of at least CN Gachas basically have every other company copy this model I wouldn't be surprise if other AAA companies make their own gachas following this model.
I generally really really dislike gacha. I played them a lot from ages 15-17 and... yeah there is quite a bit of regret there. Limbus hits different, mainly due to my massive bias already being a huge fan of the devs non-f2p games. I was at first disappointed in it being announced as a gacha and ignored it for a year. Good thing I did try it after tha. I still have some "thoughts" about it, but for now I enjoy what it is and use it as a sort of patreon for my favourite studio. If this is the cost of hitting a big, stable audience (and an anime)... so be it. Its the first time they really hit the big leagues, which makes me insanely happy after 5 years. Atleast they are very transparent I guess, but that is just justification to myself. It all is kind of the reason, why I always recommend ruina first. I want to shape people around me into PMoon fans without the gacha first. Limbus is rather easy, its gameplay is still a downgrade to the prequel, but it gets better. I do hope they can sail this ship and realise their dreams, but I wish so bad for new, fully paid projects through collabs with other devs.
