- I swapped the factory 20" wheels and tires for 18" Fuel Rebel wheels with a new set of 33" Nitto Ridge Grappler tires AT Tires. I wanted a more aggressive all terrain tire setup while also reducing some of the chrome on this Lariat chrome appearance package. I have linked the wheels and tires below:

Just got a 06 f150 about 6 months ago. Used for going camping with the family but! I slowing been adding mods to go a little off roading lol

Just a thought, why not put a high end suspension (icon coills,bds,etc..)on the powerboost. Feels like TRX videos are saturated a bit.
Been following the f150. Ordered my 3.5L space white in March after putting 174k on my ‘13 5.0 with little to no issues in that ownership.

Current economy dictates more what we can do with regular trucks we already own
So I think it’s better to show how to save gas,tow,look and feel good ,few gadgets to personalize the truck…

Hey did these new wheels and tires throw off your speedometer at all? Or is that another reason you went with a smaller rim and bigger tire to off set the OEM wheel and tire size? How’s the road noise with those tires at highway speeds? Are they loud? Any shakes or vibrations at all from the aggressive tread? Thanks for the content!

What made you go with a 275 70 18. Why not a bit bigger 285 70 18. ?

I have a Powerboost that I bought in part because of your channel. So, as much as I would like to see more F-150 content, I keep thinking the TRX is one of those vehicles that will be really sought after years after they stop making them so I say go for it!

I would do a real suspension on the F150 with some 2.5 series fully adjustable shocks like the vertex coilovers, fox, kings or Icons before you go buying a full off road setup truck. Plus the PB will make a sweet overlanding rig to power your campsite. If you want to do full on off road content I would say go out and get a nice SXS.
A Tundra hybrid would be a nice cross compare with the F150 from someone who owned both. Also, plenty of mods you could do on a Limited trim. I'd like to see the Chevy Silverado ZR2 or the TRX but they're both already fairly upgraded so less mods that make sense.

How does the powerboost handle the 33’s? Does it mess with it going into electric mode at all?
It does mess with it a little but that was to be expected with an additional 20 something pounds of unsprung weight. If you went with a regular P rated tire instead of upgrading to an LT I would assume it would be a negligible difference.

I guess I'm in the minority thinking it looked better with the OEM chrome wheels. For me, the OEM wheels fit the truck perfectly, as spec'd. The Black wheels seem out of place on a white Lariat with the chrome package. Don't get me wrong, the wheels, tires and offset are nice, but it's like an identity Crisis. Like a dude in a Nice white tuxedo wearing black hiking shoes.

Wait for the Raptor Type R!
Current Raptors are being sold 10-30K over sticker, the Raptor R with dealer markup is going to be well over $120,000 for over a year because people (not me) are rich enough to burn tens of thousands over MSRP. Not a smart buy even if your rich but if you have that much disposable income I guess who cares.
Taller profile tires are better off-road. More flotation over soft stuff, especially aired down.
TRX is cool, but it would kill you on fuel as a daily driver. Have you thought of a wrangler with the 392 or the baby raptor?

There needs to be a truck in every drive way, and get the TRX. I got a raptor And love it, but I want the TRX. The TRX is a better choices for what your plans are.

Because dealers are asking $10-$20k over for Raptors which is absurd since the second the Raptor R is formally announced every 6 cylinder (my preferred powertrain for a daily) will lose value overnight as it will no longer be the pinnacle of Ford trucks. On the flip side, I can order a Ram TRX at sticker today. Paying over sticker for hopeful resale value on a depreciating asset knowing a more desirable version will drop in a month or two is just burning tens of thousands for fun and I don’t have that kind of fun money, even if I did I still wouldn’t do it.
What about the new Chevy ZR2?
I would do the AT4X version but certainly on my radar. Only thing I am soured on is GM’s recent play on requiring subscriptions for traditionally basic tech functionality. Personally I would just pay the subscription fee but I am not a big fan of supporting companies making those greedy decisions.
If you don’t need a truck anymore, maybe you should consider a Ford Lightning. Been watching some videos about it on TC Customs UA-cam channel.
I’m not ready to make that jump to electric yet mainly for infrastructure. With the channel there are a lot of times I take last minute road trips that I squeeze in schedule-wise. It’s not a huge problem heading west to LA but heading any other direction starts to cause issue with charging infrastructure. I’m not an anti-EV guy by no means but I am realistic in terms of infrastructure and we’re still a few years away from where it needs to be for me to jump in the game.

Love your stuff Dan! I’ve been watching the issues you were having. Do have to voice my opinion tho bud - the black wheels don’t work with the chrome package. I went a similar way on my Ram (black wheels) and the truck had chrome bumpers, door handles, mirrors, etc. I switched all of it to Black! Aftermarket bumpers, mirrors, ridgid aux lights, etc.
I don’t totally disagree. If I decide to keep the truck long term I may color match bumpers or go aftermarket. Not sure what I’m doing yet but in person I don’t hate the black on chrome.

I think that you have to look long term about your truck needs. You've obviously have dumped a bunch of $$$ into the F150, which you may or may not recoup by selling your F150. If you get a TRX would it function as well as the F150 if you found yourself back on the road visiting jobsites, because you had to change jobs again? Just a few things to consider.
That’s definitely something I’ve considered. If I end up back in industry it would be brutal. Not planning on it, but I also know life throws consistent curveballs.
You'll def lose mileage on the PB with that heavy of a wheel/tire.

The skip over 2nd gear is not normal
I’m not sure about that. I’ve heard people say that but I also think these 10 speeds don’t need to sequentially hit every gear. I think it’s similar to how driving a 6 speed manual can be started in 2nd gear when it makes sense. I think these 10 speeds are tuned pretty clunky for tow rating (or just bad execution) but I don’t think it’s abnormal. That’s just my take but I’m not sure, certainly understand why people think it’s not right though, feels weird.
No to the TRX. It’s ridiculous. I don’t need a truck either but I can see some stuff happening in my future where I’m going to appreciate the hell out of it. Plus I wanted something built to last.
Your money brother if you want a trx than get one just don’t put yourself in a hole financially if that’s not a concern than go with it 😎👍

Those are gunna kill your fuel mileage though… going from an lt to e rated is a lot of weight. 4 ply to 10 ply…
Couple MPG, not the most fuel efficient option but I also am not the most fuel conscious consumer either. Trade offs for everything but I know I wouldn’t want to be doing a ton of off road driving with a 4 ply. My purchase of the power boost wasn’t for highway mpg, it was for idle comfort on job sites on 115 degree days in Phoenix with the AC running not needing to idle the motor. Comfort / convenience over a general MPG convo.
I put 34 inch 10 plys on my 2022 F-150 and fuel consumption went from 11.5L/100kms to around 13. Nothing major

I noticed you talking a lot about gas mileage and how it’s not important to you, but you talk about off-roading and it looks like you’re driving in places where gas stations are spread out. According to Car and Driver, their TRX averages 10 Mpg and with a 33 gallon tank that’s only 330 miles per tank. I could be wrong, but I assume that average drops significantly when you’re off-roading and the PowerBoost is advertised and getting almost 2.5x that with a 700 mile range. Stuck in the desert with no gas, even a few miles out, could be a death sentence. I just ordered the F150 PowerBoost and would prefer watching you mod and test that truck instead of the TRX.
