I live next to the GM plant that produces the Chevy Traverse, Buick Enclave. They parked a large amount of them in a parking lot they rented from Michigan State University waiting for microchips and parts, and I know for a fact they didn't move them at all during that time. So you're probably correct in assuming the truck you ordered was never touched.
GM truck assembly plant here in Allen County Indiana got shut down because of all the inventory that's just sitting, waiting for chips before they can go out to dealerships

Same here - have channel, did a custom order - did some content on it. Then, truck got cancelled due to parts or drastically delayed. I went with an order dealer already had in which arrived today! So, to the guy who had an issue, pound sand lol.
I am really surprised that you didn’t have more people telling you how disappointed they were in your decision. Time and value are two different conversations. Its not the EASIEST time to buy a truck, but its not the worst if you can still get it significantly under MSRP AND take the highly bloated used car value out of your trade. It is actually arguably the BEST time to buy a truck if you do it right.

Bought a 2015 platinum f150 in the middle of 2016 Sat on lot for about a year and a half. It’s just fine. No issues. They make seals and gaskets so much better today

Hey Bud I just signed For a preowned 2021 Powerboost Lariat 3.5 hybrid. Im coming out of a diesel 6.7 ford and 7.3 liter as for every trucks Ive ever owned since I was sixteen. It was tough to let go of that diesel mentality But I truly beleive this truck will serve me or anyone who owns them well.. CAn You get into the powering house issue Because the wiring Of the generator on board is GFCI protected so U cant just suicide cord to ur panel or a 30 amp Installed outlet from what I Understand. Id really appreciate a response on this detailed and or tag me in a video if ya do. I havent picked up yet. so I could still back out but anyways I ope you read this. Great Video. Im subscribed now
I too custom ordered a PowerBoost Platinum 4x4, while on order my Salesman changed dealerships to a new state of the art Ford store. (I forfeit my order at no charge) then special ordered this time a Limited trim level PowerBoast 4x4, at the new dealership it took 11 week to come in arrived at the dealer on July 23rd at 10am. The remarkable number is my pre-trade was $3,034.21 more than 4 trim levels below loaded with many options. Do the math buying a F-150 it pays to get the upper trim level you desire with almost no extra options and at trade it will be worth more,. Options on my Limited were 4X4, PowerBoost and Max recline seats. The PowerBoost Option in this trim level is only $1900 and comes standard with the 7.2Kw generator. Plus it has almost ever feature Ford has to offer and more.
Beautiful truck. But unfortunately, beauty is only skin deep. I think I'll be keeping my 2019 FX4 Lariat 5.0 (built before all this Covid stuff) I couldn't imagine paying that kind of money for something brand-new that sat for months unattended, awaiting chip production before being delivered to me. ...also it'll be the DEALER'S "technicians" installing and programming these components, not the factory...what could POSSIBLY go wrong with that.🤔
What’s with the chrome haters? Chrome is good. Look at the painted colored numbers. Nicks and scraps if u live in an urban environment. Parallel parking guys. Not all of us live in the land of wide open driveways and huge parking lots at Tractor Supply. Chrome resists nicks and dents. I have a black 2016 F-150 with chrome package. I added some minimal extras myself. On the rear view mirrors, bottom window trim and around the backup camera. I get parking lot complements all the time on how good it looks. It’s the contrast. I had a motorcyclist Ram my 1994 Bronco XLT while I was at a red light. Right on the drivers side by the headlight. He wasnt hurt. Must have been a stolen bike. He ran away. Destroyed the bike. That side of the bumper was pushed back about a half inch. If that. That’s what bumbers are for. Chrome baby!!
I realize I'm late to the party here but you are correct about the moon roof. My 2015 Lariat High package twin panel sun/moonroof ... Which I barely ever used... broke at the opening/closing mechanism screw drive to bracket connection... And it's a $4000.00 repair bill. I about crapped a brick. $1500 parts and the rest labor. Looks like I will NOT be using my sun/moonroof again any time soon.
I bought a 2019 F150 Roush Nitemare that was sitting on the showroom floor for at least a year. Bought it in Sept. 2020. Condenser went out at 3200 mi. Only got around 4800 mi. now (I have another truck also). Never had an issue with seals or gaskets or wiring, but....... I do REGRET buying it! Why? Because I don't believe in my heart that these new trucks with all their electronic gizmos and stuff are reliable. I'm gonna get an extended warranty soon because I'm positive I'll need it. Should've kept my 2016 Trail Premium 4 Runner. Ford brags about 50 yrs. of being a top seller; well WHY do they keep adding things or changing things, unlike Toyota which has basically rolled out the same engines and transmissions for the last 15 yrs. for their 4 Runners and they sell like hot cakes here in Hawaii. Should've listened to my wife............
Scotty Kilmer said that most manufacturers decided to lower their minimum quality thresholds for parts, due to the whole COVID induced supply and manufacturing chain fiasco. Example: if GM had a threshold of reliability for a part set at 95% pre-COVID, they had to lower it to 70% or even lower. What this means is that hundreds of thousands of vehicles produced in 2021 and 2022 are having massive issues. I've read many of the forums and testimonials by owners who purchased new vehicles during the last couple of years, and this almost certainly seems to be true. People may be better off purchasing a car or truck that was built in 2018 or 2019 than a newer one. But that is an issue people have to decide for themselves. Yes, the price of used vehicles is also up. But new ones aren't exactly cheap either.
When Ford placed almost all its marbles on the F-150, selling in excess of 650k vehicles annually, you know quality issues will surface, in fact you can virtually guarantee it.
Funny I custom ordered my 2021 F150 Power Boost back in April 2021 I received mine in just under 8 weeks (56 days) with the A-Z Ford Discount. I've deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan and left my previous vehicles set for months without being started and maybe started four or five times in the year plus I was gone. Not once on either vehicle that I owned that I had mechanical issues when I returned. The F150s were being stored at a race track not too far away from the manufacturing plant. Not saying there wouldn't be weird issues but that would of been the last of my worries
I'm done with ford. F150s start falling apart before 100,000 miles, cancelling my bronco order too. My f150 is in the shop now, been in there a week at ford dealership in vero beach. I've been on a waitlist a over a year. I'm buying s 4runner and the new tundra, HERE I COME TOYOTA!

I even spent sometime googling if people are getting rodent infested brand new vehicles. Can’t find anything.
I know this is an old video, over a year, and no didn't read all the comments! From formally working at a ford dealer as a mechanic one of our tasks was prepping new vehicles for sale. I have seen the gambit where rangers where labeled as Mazda (up, long time ago in the b series and rangers where the same), no fluids (diffs mainly), miss match tires, etc. Hence why we do a final inspection. That all said, the "drive train unites" (engine and trans assembly) are broken in when tested on dynos. Then fluids are changed but the fluids aren't your typical fluids but break in fluids with additives for the seals etc. that is why your first oil change is generally much sooner then any other. Rarely did I see a vehicle received for stock sold with in 6 months of the production date and some cases closer to a year. Once a vehicle hits a certain date they usually will pick the vehicle up and take it to another dealer far away that data shows might be able to sell it faster. Side note, if they realize a color or package doesn't sell, those will sit on the same lot and even highly discounted. Many of the unsold overstock either get sold to large companies at a discount (at cost in man cases) or government type use. That is why on some of the government auctions you'll see mainly base models but also a small percentage up random upgraded models all the way to high end trims. Point is, the worry about fluids and battery quality is mainly what the warranty is for also, but with many of the new gasket and seal technology and quality, worrying about fluids and leaks is irrelevant and old school thinking. The old school 350 create motor from GM (use to be in the 2k range) I would some in from Summit that where over a year old and almost never an issue. Those are stored with no oil other then assembly lube and they where spun over for checks (not run, just spun).
The engine on my 09 f150 blew up at t end of june so i needed a new vehicle and they were so scarce i finally got a 2021 4wd xl on the lot. They cheaped out on everything on t base model, the worst being shit pirelli tires that blew apart at 4000 miles way out in the wilds and i had a very hard time getting the spare down, and i hate the little 23 gallon tank that I didn't even notice. There have been other troubles with it, electronic and the engine needed 2 quarts of oil before about 6k miles, but now it stabilized and I don't know why. Any idea? The old trucks were better and will last longer than all this electronic junk. I particularly hate the inforainment screen which again is cheaped out and smaller in mine. Over $50k and it's like a stripped down base model!
Everybody loves these trucks. I did until the recalls started showing up. How long has Ford been building these? They should be making Tundras and Tacoma’s look like 2nd. Raters by now. Ended up not buying anything. Tired of getting ripped off.
I custom ordered my 150 powerboost and I love it. I did follow through only because I couldn't get what I was looking for. And I totally get why you did what you did. Don't let that dude get to you, you made the best choice for you. Mine also didn't sit on the lot It was built then sent
When you were listing all the features of the truck and commented about not a big deal adding $1k packages just because the price was already ridiculous, I was thinking look at this sucker. But I haven't bought a new truck since 2017 and it was a crew cab tundra for $33k. These new trucks are priced so high, it's almost unbelievable and buying these favorable packages will no doubt benefit you when reselling. I may have to buy a sedan and use it for contracting somehow because the truck market is unreasonable imo.
cool video. this helped me allot. i also ordered almost the same truck. it started production on aug 6th. it has sat for almost a month waiting for a "chip". i have been told i get it FINALLY next week. this process has been a super pain in the ass. I started in May and hopefully it will conclude mid Oct. I will look out for more videos on your journey with your F150 hybrid.
It's called lot rot, and chips have been a problem for all U.S. automakers, and why used car prices have gone up tremendously. If you have a lease that is up, you may be best to do a buy out for now... going to be really hard to get exactly what you want new. Just drive a by any dealership...they are becoming thin. Talk to a small dealership and ask about how long people have waited for an order and were shut down or forced to find something else.
I just bought that exact same truck (the 2022 model) last month. I love it so far. Not a single issue has come up yet. What part of the valley do you live in? I'm out in Buckeye and have seen a couple of these trucks out in my area.

I get it and I get why the viewer was angry enough to unsubscribe What started out as your goal was not happening. Basically it was all about why it was not happening , other trucks Costco etc. That was not what other viewers wanted so they bailed. However others I believe want to see your customizations to the truck and motorcycle mods. It seems you had to make a choice either take the truck you could get and start doing videos on your mods or stand the potential to lose those subscribers as well as there was no new content on truck modifications I suspect you have a lot more viewers looking to see the modifications in the purchase process so it makes sense
You made the right choice. “Lot rot” is the worst for vehicles. I saw my truck came of the line about 2 weeks after I got it and took it, knowing this was made just a few weeks ago.
I would have zero issue buying a new truck that sat for a few months. Many people in the military have their vehicles sit for up to a year without running while deployed without any issues.
We did the same thing, gave up on order that was built 3/1, sitting 120+ days in a lot waiting for a chip. Found an incoming unclaimed nicer truck (king ranch) that we are totally happy with now! It's not like an F150 is that "custom" ever - it's the most common best selling vehicle in the entire country. Correct on what the manual says, PLUS being a powerboost hybrid, you know that lithium ion battery gets highly impacted when fully drained - it is a big no no in battery land.
I can tell you first hand as being an electrician that mice and rats for some reason love the coating on electrical wire. I rewire homes and you can see how much rodents have chewed the wires!
I did the same thing! I ordered the first of April and it still has no production date. I ended up getting one off the lot that had more options then I wanted. The color was the only option I didn’t get that I wanted.
Comments like this make me cringe. You clearly didn’t watch the actual content before chiming in. “Buying a truck in 2021” isn’t a negative thing as long as you aren’t buying over MSRP. Buying ANY vehicle $4k under MSRP is NEVER a bad deal. Sure, anyone buying a vehicle in 2021 and paying a “market adjustment” $7,000 over MSRP is probably not a very smart purchase.
All I am saying is you would have saved a lot more $$$ on top of the Costco discount if you waited. That is nothing to cringe about. Not sure what your situation is but If you are willing to wait this long for a truck why not wait a little longer to save a lot more $$$?

As a consumer, you need to make educated purchasing decisions and not just rely on warranty as if manufacturers willingly and happily accept those processes. I went through it with GM and I’m not going through it again. The fight costs time, energy, and mental health. All of those things are worth more to me than a couple thou.
Who said that you have buy 2021 model a year from now? You could pre-order or buy 2022 or 2023 just like what you are doing right now. You will get a much better deal on a newer model. Right?

Im not sure what exactly you are comparing wheels to wheels but by that same measure I could also buy a 1967 Buick Wildcat, 2007 International BE 30 Passenger School Bus, 2006 Ford Expedition, and 46 other old beat up $1,500 vehicles off craigslist that would require a junk yard to store them, and endless wrenching to keep them running. If you are trying to compare a modern F-150 hybrid with level 2 self driving capability and OTA updates to a 1971 VW bus, then yes you are living under a rock lol

Bought a 2015 platinum f150 in the middle of 2016 Sat on lot for about a year and a half. It’s just fine. No issues. They make seals and gaskets so much better today

These new 2021 f 150s are awesome I bought one got carried away and got a 2wd Stx but I’m truly enjoying it I’ve never owned a brand new truck used yes cars suvs I have bought new but not a truck and I just say they have come a long way

Hey Bud I just signed For a preowned 2021 Powerboost Lariat 3.5 hybrid. Im coming out of a diesel 6.7 ford and 7.3 liter as for every trucks Ive ever owned since I was sixteen. It was tough to let go of that diesel mentality But I truly beleive this truck will serve me or anyone who owns them well.. CAn You get into the powering house issue Because the wiring Of the generator on board is GFCI protected so U cant just suicide cord to ur panel or a 30 amp Installed outlet from what I Understand. Id really appreciate a response on this detailed and or tag me in a video if ya do. I havent picked up yet. so I could still back out but anyways I ope you read this. Great Video. Im subscribed now
I too custom ordered a PowerBoost Platinum 4x4, while on order my Salesman changed dealerships to a new state of the art Ford store. (I forfeit my order at no charge) then special ordered this time a Limited trim level PowerBoast 4x4, at the new dealership it took 11 week to come in arrived at the dealer on July 23rd at 10am. The remarkable number is my pre-trade was $3,034.21 more than 4 trim levels below loaded with many options. Do the math buying a F-150 it pays to get the upper trim level you desire with almost no extra options and at trade it will be worth more,. Options on my Limited were 4X4, PowerBoost and Max recline seats. The PowerBoost Option in this trim level is only $1900 and comes standard with the 7.2Kw generator. Plus it has almost ever feature Ford has to offer and more.
Question. How do you find the these dates? I definitely wouldn’t want me vehicle sitting for many months before I bought it knew.

What’s with the chrome haters? Chrome is good. Look at the painted colored numbers. Nicks and scraps if u live in an urban environment. Parallel parking guys. Not all of us live in the land of wide open driveways and huge parking lots at Tractor Supply. Chrome resists nicks and dents. I have a black 2016 F-150 with chrome package. I added some minimal extras myself. On the rear view mirrors, bottom window trim and around the backup camera. I get parking lot complements all the time on how good it looks. It’s the contrast. I had a motorcyclist Ram my 1994 Bronco XLT while I was at a red light. Right on the drivers side by the headlight. He wasnt hurt. Must have been a stolen bike. He ran away. Destroyed the bike. That side of the bumper was pushed back about a half inch. If that. That’s what bumbers are for. Chrome baby!!
I realize I'm late to the party here but you are correct about the moon roof. My 2015 Lariat High package twin panel sun/moonroof ... Which I barely ever used... broke at the opening/closing mechanism screw drive to bracket connection... And it's a $4000.00 repair bill. I about crapped a brick. $1500 parts and the rest labor. Looks like I will NOT be using my sun/moonroof again any time soon.
I bought a 2019 F150 Roush Nitemare that was sitting on the showroom floor for at least a year. Bought it in Sept. 2020. Condenser went out at 3200 mi. Only got around 4800 mi. now (I have another truck also). Never had an issue with seals or gaskets or wiring, but....... I do REGRET buying it! Why? Because I don't believe in my heart that these new trucks with all their electronic gizmos and stuff are reliable. I'm gonna get an extended warranty soon because I'm positive I'll need it. Should've kept my 2016 Trail Premium 4 Runner. Ford brags about 50 yrs. of being a top seller; well WHY do they keep adding things or changing things, unlike Toyota which has basically rolled out the same engines and transmissions for the last 15 yrs. for their 4 Runners and they sell like hot cakes here in Hawaii. Should've listened to my wife............
Scotty Kilmer said that most manufacturers decided to lower their minimum quality thresholds for parts, due to the whole COVID induced supply and manufacturing chain fiasco. Example: if GM had a threshold of reliability for a part set at 95% pre-COVID, they had to lower it to 70% or even lower. What this means is that hundreds of thousands of vehicles produced in 2021 and 2022 are having massive issues. I've read many of the forums and testimonials by owners who purchased new vehicles during the last couple of years, and this almost certainly seems to be true. People may be better off purchasing a car or truck that was built in 2018 or 2019 than a newer one. But that is an issue people have to decide for themselves. Yes, the price of used vehicles is also up. But new ones aren't exactly cheap either.
When Ford placed almost all its marbles on the F-150, selling in excess of 650k vehicles annually, you know quality issues will surface, in fact you can virtually guarantee it.
Funny I custom ordered my 2021 F150 Power Boost back in April 2021 I received mine in just under 8 weeks (56 days) with the A-Z Ford Discount. I've deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan and left my previous vehicles set for months without being started and maybe started four or five times in the year plus I was gone. Not once on either vehicle that I owned that I had mechanical issues when I returned. The F150s were being stored at a race track not too far away from the manufacturing plant. Not saying there wouldn't be weird issues but that would of been the last of my worries
I'm done with ford. F150s start falling apart before 100,000 miles, cancelling my bronco order too. My f150 is in the shop now, been in there a week at ford dealership in vero beach. I've been on a waitlist a over a year. I'm buying s 4runner and the new tundra, HERE I COME TOYOTA!

I know this is an old video, over a year, and no didn't read all the comments! From formally working at a ford dealer as a mechanic one of our tasks was prepping new vehicles for sale. I have seen the gambit where rangers where labeled as Mazda (up, long time ago in the b series and rangers where the same), no fluids (diffs mainly), miss match tires, etc. Hence why we do a final inspection.
That all said, the "drive train unites" (engine and trans assembly) are broken in when tested on dynos. Then fluids are changed but the fluids aren't your typical fluids but break in fluids with additives for the seals etc. that is why your first oil change is generally much sooner then any other. Rarely did I see a vehicle received for stock sold with in 6 months of the production date and some cases closer to a year. Once a vehicle hits a certain date they usually will pick the vehicle up and take it to another dealer far away that data shows might be able to sell it faster. Side note, if they realize a color or package doesn't sell, those will sit on the same lot and even highly discounted.
Many of the unsold overstock either get sold to large companies at a discount (at cost in man cases) or government type use. That is why on some of the government auctions you'll see mainly base models but also a small percentage up random upgraded models all the way to high end trims.
Point is, the worry about fluids and battery quality is mainly what the warranty is for also, but with many of the new gasket and seal technology and quality, worrying about fluids and leaks is irrelevant and old school thinking. The old school 350 create motor from GM (use to be in the 2k range) I would some in from Summit that where over a year old and almost never an issue. Those are stored with no oil other then assembly lube and they where spun over for checks (not run, just spun).
The engine on my 09 f150 blew up at t end of june so i needed a new vehicle and they were so scarce i finally got a 2021 4wd xl on the lot. They cheaped out on everything on t base model, the worst being shit pirelli tires that blew apart at 4000 miles way out in the wilds and i had a very hard time getting the spare down, and i hate the little 23 gallon tank that I didn't even notice. There have been other troubles with it, electronic and the engine needed 2 quarts of oil before about 6k miles, but now it stabilized and I don't know why. Any idea? The old trucks were better and will last longer than all this electronic junk. I particularly hate the inforainment screen which again is cheaped out and smaller in mine. Over $50k and it's like a stripped down base model!
Everybody loves these trucks. I did until the recalls started showing up. How long has Ford been building these? They should be making Tundras and Tacoma’s look like 2nd. Raters by now. Ended up not buying anything. Tired of getting ripped off.
I custom ordered my 150 powerboost and I love it. I did follow through only because I couldn't get what I was looking for. And I totally get why you did what you did. Don't let that dude get to you, you made the best choice for you. Mine also didn't sit on the lot It was built then sent
When you were listing all the features of the truck and commented about not a big deal adding $1k packages just because the price was already ridiculous, I was thinking look at this sucker. But I haven't bought a new truck since 2017 and it was a crew cab tundra for $33k. These new trucks are priced so high, it's almost unbelievable and buying these favorable packages will no doubt benefit you when reselling. I may have to buy a sedan and use it for contracting somehow because the truck market is unreasonable imo.
cool video. this helped me allot. i also ordered almost the same truck. it started production on aug 6th. it has sat for almost a month waiting for a "chip". i have been told i get it FINALLY next week. this process has been a super pain in the ass. I started in May and hopefully it will conclude mid Oct. I will look out for more videos on your journey with your F150 hybrid.
It's called lot rot, and chips have been a problem for all U.S. automakers, and why used car prices have gone up tremendously. If you have a lease that is up, you may be best to do a buy out for now... going to be really hard to get exactly what you want new. Just drive a by any dealership...they are becoming thin. Talk to a small dealership and ask about how long people have waited for an order and were shut down or forced to find something else.
I just bought that exact same truck (the 2022 model) last month. I love it so far. Not a single issue has come up yet. What part of the valley do you live in? I'm out in Buckeye and have seen a couple of these trucks out in my area.

What started out as your goal was not happening. Basically it was all about why it was not happening , other trucks Costco etc. That was not what other viewers wanted so they bailed.
However others I believe want to see your customizations to the truck and motorcycle mods. It seems you had to make a choice either take the truck you could get and start doing videos on your mods or stand the potential to lose those subscribers as well as there was no new content on truck modifications
I suspect you have a lot more viewers looking to see the modifications in the purchase process so it makes sense

I would have zero issue buying a new truck that sat for a few months. Many people in the military have their vehicles sit for up to a year without running while deployed without any issues.
We did the same thing, gave up on order that was built 3/1, sitting 120+ days in a lot waiting for a chip. Found an incoming unclaimed nicer truck (king ranch) that we are totally happy with now! It's not like an F150 is that "custom" ever - it's the most common best selling vehicle in the entire country. Correct on what the manual says, PLUS being a powerboost hybrid, you know that lithium ion battery gets highly impacted when fully drained - it is a big no no in battery land.
I've never seen your channel. My unbias opinion is, you should have waited for your custom truck.

I did the same thing! I ordered the first of April and it still has no production date. I ended up getting one off the lot that had more options then I wanted. The color was the only option I didn’t get that I wanted.

Buying ANY vehicle $4k under MSRP is NEVER a bad deal. Sure, anyone buying a vehicle in 2021 and paying a “market adjustment” $7,000 over MSRP is probably not a very smart purchase.
All I am saying is you would have saved a lot more $$$ on top of the Costco discount if you waited. That is nothing to cringe about. Not sure what your situation is but If you are willing to wait this long for a truck why not wait a little longer to save a lot more $$$?

As a consumer, you need to make educated purchasing decisions and not just rely on warranty as if manufacturers willingly and happily accept those processes. I went through it with GM and I’m not going through it again. The fight costs time, energy, and mental health. All of those things are worth more to me than a couple thou.
Who said that you have buy 2021 model a year from now? You could pre-order or buy 2022 or 2023 just like what you are doing right now. You will get a much better deal on a newer model. Right?
