- Van Life in Europe has officially begun. We are Ian & Ana, 2 Americans that shipped their van from the U.S. to Europe. We will be spending the next 2 years exploring Europe in our van. We have done van life in the U.S. but we are excited to see the differences in Europe. We started our road trip in early April when we picked up our van from Antwerp, Belgium. It was still cold so we decided to take a long road trip for 24 hours all the way down to Portugal

7:46 their home was stunning!
Right!! We couldn’t believe how amazing it was. They have the best taste 😍
I've only heard of it because we used to live in Ghent in Norfolk,VA and when we started making videos so many people said we should go to the Ghent across the pond
It’s Brittany Ferries from the UK go from either Plymouth or Portsmouth to Santander or Bilbao. Fares start at $300-400 and take about 20+ hours.
It would only have been worth taking the ferry if you’d had your van shipped to the UK.
With your van arriving in Belgium, you’d have to pay take the ferry to Dover then drive 3 hours to Plymouth or Portsmouth. You wouldn’t have saved anything except not having to drive it down.
French highways are notoriously expensive (as are Italian ones) but…there are Aires (rest stops) every 30 kilometres. It makes travelling so easy.
If you want to save money, you can try taking N roads in France. It was the old highway system but the rest stops are hit and miss and there’s many times where the highway ends and you go through villages.
Or you can go through Germany where the highways are free (as they are in Belgium). Me giving this info is kind of pointless seeing as the trip you published was in April and it’s now July 😂
Wow thank you so much for such a detailed comment!! Haha never pointless because it can help others trying to make the journey down to Portugal. Sounds like we didn’t really screw it all up after all
Excited to keep sharing this journey with you ❤️
I use to live in Belgium because of the military and I got the opportunity to play basketball with a Belgian club that use to travel all around Belgium and Ghent was one of the places. Love Belgium!!! Miss it so much!! So glad you guys got to see the beautiful country and the beauty of Europe. I can't wait to go back.
I studied abroad in Europe in 2019 and stayed in Belgium with a family. Their neighbors were hosting students as well and one day we went to Ghent, we went on the canal trip and had frites! We also listened to some live music. It was super fun and memorable!!
And the honeymoon continues! Amazing lives you live and you live it to the fullest! Bravo!

Ghent looks really nice! And the Pyrenees are stunning, I went there once and loved it! I think the ferry would also have been nice but I'm sure driving through France was still worthwhile :)
Right!! Ghent is truly a hidden gem 😍 Yeah I don’t think we will ever regret it. The journey is what makes road trips all worth it ❤️
Very very nice video 👌👌💐🙏👍👍👍

Oh yeah! On the road again. 16 minutes and what's that taste in my mouth? That's me wanting more, but I like the little taste you gave us. Sorry to hear about the missed opportunity to have saved so much money. Stay safe. Love you!! Woot woot. ❤🙏

So nice to see you went to Ghent, how were my friend (Filip) his fries? I eat there on regular basis. Sad we didn't see you. Have a safe and unforgettable trip through Europe. Greetings.
Omg love how Laura & Nicolas brought us to Filip’s fry place! They were some of the best fries we have ever had 🤤 Your City is such a hidden gem. Excited to keep sharing this crazy adventure with you
The treaty that ended the War of 1812 was the treaty of Ghent
Wow must have missed this during history class!! Thanks for letting us know ❤️❤️
You look so happily married, have fun and be safe, what beautiful life experiences!💖
Awww thank you so much!! We love sharing our adventures with you ❤️❤️
Great video! By the way… TOS website is still a link shown. Are you both planning on getting your new website up with your names, Ian and Ana?
Looks to be about 1,250 miles from Antwerp to Porto (for a rough approximation of mileage). How do you spend $1,100 in gas in 1,250 miles?!? How the heck expensive is gas there???
Well I think we went inland to Laruns towards the Pyranese. Then I think we got lost a couple times 😂
Hey Ian and Ana 😊 What is the Paris campsite called?
Omg so sorry we didn’t add it! About to go to bed but I will update the description below this video tomorrow
Hey Michelle!! So sorry i didn't respond faster. I updated the description below the video with the camp site information
Hey guys, I think I just saw you in Belgrade, are you here or do you have some real doppelgängers here? P.S. Friendly photographer neighbor, couldn’t find you on Insta 😁
Haha yes we are in Belgrade for the next 30 days hanging with Ana’s family and working 😂 Love that you saw us!!
How do you pay for stuff and credit cards?
It was a catastrophic decision to buy a petrol van. You said that you have paid 1000€ for petrol. From Belgium to Porto is around 2000 kilometers, in s diesel you could get there with 1/3 of the money. Fiat diesel burns around 9 liters per 100km within the speed limit on the highway. RAM is a sibling to a Fiat/Peugeot/Citroën, so there would be no problem with any spare parts. All the best for you.
