Hi, I was 15 in 1980!!! Yes lots of changes, do you think you would prefer it as it was or now?
@@MikesMovies probably as it was it looked so much much better back then
Great memories, spent loads of happy days in haven't park during the 70s and early 80s, thanks
Glad you enjoyed it, cheers
Thank you for bringing back my childhood memories. We lived above Gerrards at Market Parade Worked in the fruit n veg with my Dad in Market Parade and West Street in the late 70's. Loved the old puffin Billy line
Our pleasure! thanks for watching, where are you now?

Great memories come to mind such as shopping in west street arcade as chlidren and playing pool in The Dolphin as a teenager. Thanks Mike!!
What a lovely show mike, have many memories of havant as a child, my dad parents lived in home well, on saturday we would stop at the cake shop and buy fresh cream cakes and pop in and have a cup of tea, with nan, then wonder in to havant and look round all the shops, before heading back to westbourne.
Hi Stephen, thanks very much, glad you enjoyed. Thanks also for sharing you lovely memories. Which cake shop was that?
A bit late to the party,but...all very evocative stuff!I lived at Bedhampton and did a 5year apprenticeship in Havant from 63 to 69/70 ish. Spent so much time there both at lunch times and in the evenings too! A nice feel to the place and I still feel attached to it even now in2023! Cheers
Cheers Nigel, seems to have gone way down these days
Enjoyed the views of Havant and also the event at Portsmouth and Southsea Station . Going back to the 1950`s I remember my Mum taking us to Portsmouth and Southsea , we lived just of Arundel Street , to watch the Circus arrive , I remember the Elephants .
Thanks Robert, hmm I will send you a message about that
This is where and when I grew up. So many memories

Lovely slide, and it was nice t o see the White Hart Pub again, where I was Landlady for a while x
Hi Gloria, many thanks glad you enjoyed. What years were you in charge?
Fantastic pictures. I was at Warbo at the time of these. Used to spend our lunch times in Havant. Used to get dragged around Streets by my Dad on a Saturday. Remember Connells bike shop?.
I loved Streets a real 4 candles shop, yes most of my spares came from Connells :) Thanks for watching
This was a delight to watch and listen to you! I was born in 1990 (lived in havant my whole childhood and adolecence) so I really don't remember a time without the Meridian Center, its wonderful to see the town as it was when my parents decided to settle down and start a family!
Dear Charlotte I am deeply honoured by your words. I am so glad to have been able to help. Regards Mike
Never heard of this town...
Great pics...some of the pics of buildings etc still look the same on Google maps...just looked...
Many thanks
It was a lot different then to what it is now. I went to a voluntary course at Oak Park School in 1989. Used to get the bus from Southsea to the town centre of Havant.
Yes terribe changes now. Take care
Hi Mike. Great collection and some love history given by yourself. loved the deltic it looked awesome and powerful. Regards George.....
Thanks George
30 years ago - seems like yesterday - until you look at pictures like these............Reinhard
Scary the passage of time my friend!
Love the show, I was at the gala day too and took similar pictures, great work
Thanks Nick so glad you enjoyed
Street's was a proper hardware shop, scent of paraffin as you entered. Staff wearing brown linen shop coats. Myriad fixtures and fittings in those dark hardboard-faced drawers. Upstairs was all gardening stuff. What a loss.
Oh yes absolutely, out the back was the original four candles man
Brilliant
Thanks, local?
Yes mate havant.
I see you're into dx'ing..
I have a scanner and like to have a listen.
Not sure if you're into amateur radio.
I got back into the CB during COVID.
We are always on the 14 on a Tuesday night.
Yankee foxtrot net.
Hi Mike. Seems to be spontaneous combustion making space for 5 bedroom houses up here. I had a Datsun Sunny similar to that in front of the chemist - memories..........
Glad you enjoyed :)
Great collection of Photographs there Mike with excellent calm commentary-- appreciate the work done . regards - Mike.
Thanks so much
Little known fact, Havant got its name as it haven't got a decent pub, haven't got a decent restaurant, haven't got a decent leisure centre...
lol hahaha
Used to drink in the Star in the 70's, it was wild back then! The toilets were referred to as the 'office' where dodgy transactions would take place. Anton Hartfree, Dave Neville, Diggs Andrew Holcroft, Frank Stokes, Dave Nugent...
Star was one of mine in the early 90s
The Havant Library which was once a cinema.
Indeed so, too much change I think
Quality
Many thanks
