I live in AZ so really enjoy watching you capture a Arizona nugget!! I myself own a Tesoro Lobo Super Traq and the Fisher GOLD BUG 2 is a awesome detector too.
Jeff, just super! Very entertaining, educational and the links are chock full of history, geology and great gold mining information. I have been studying the USGS Professional Paper 1361 that covers Gold Basin and Lost Basin - 176 pages and I download the map separately. Many Thanks!
Hi Randy glad you liked it and we have studied too for a long time. Have sampled the area very well over the last year and a half and have found that place to be very good. Jeff
Awesome Jeff your videos bring joy to my life, I am far away from the dessert but I am going treasure hunting at the beach because that the only place in florida for metal detecting.
Jeff, that was a very educational video. Simple and to the point. I probably learned more from what you did in 5 minutes then I have from an hour of Minelab videos.. THANK YOU
Great programs Jeff. I grew up in the Feather River country above Oroville CA. and have had the fever since the late forty's. Take care out there..........Bill
King Tut mine history unearthed! This past weekend I attended an estate sale in Glendale, CA. The deceased gentleman who's property we were rummaging through happened to be one of the former owner/operators of the King Tut mine beginning in 1935! Among the items up for sale was all the documentation, beginning with the mineral analysis from a laboratory, the planning stages, gathering the team, all the equipment purchasing, property purchase contract, all notes, camp and payroll expenses, and telegraph correspondences. I had no clue where the King Tut mine was located, or it's gold producing history in the Kingman region of AZ. I bought a portion of all the papers available, initially just for the historic and graphic art significance. It was only after reading the contents and doing research on the internet that I pieced together just what I had. Curious, I did a search on UA-cam for King Tut mine and your video popped up! Your videos are a kick!
Hi terry that is just great now you have to get out there and find your first nugget and then it will be all over. Thanks for the comments and glad to hear our vids helped Jeff
Hello Jeff another exciting informative vid....way to go...I tried to click to go to the next vid and subscribe but nothing happened.. keep the great vids coming Jeff great job....
Great Video! Nice gold too. I would like to see you do a vid where you just metal detect and show the finds, what ever they may be!!!! Look forward to the next!! JJ
On your video you mention adjusting the detector a little hot. You said to to adjust it with the coil making a sound on the up stroke. I always thought it was on the down stroke. Got me thinking. I always seem to dig just the surface of the ground. Maybe I need to adjust my Tesoro Lobo to the up stroke. Can't hurt. I really like your videos.
+Rob Mart Hi Rob, to ground balance Hot yes it needs to sound off a little on the down stroke. Thanks for correcting me had to go back and watch that one but yes you are right. Thanks for watching and we will be making more metal detecting vids and have the correct info. Jeff and Slim
Great Video... Was just in Idaho Springs Co last week... A little too much snow to get down to the river but heading back this summer... With all the flooding out there last year a ton of things moved that haven't for 500 years so panning should be good... Just don't try it on Boulder County, they have outlawed it there...,
***** My name is Saed from Minnesota. I just want to let u know that I always watch ur chennel, because it's the only chennel that keeps me motivated, so that I can find gold by myself. My question is. What is the best detector to find gold, weather deep, or surface? If there is a one, which one would u recommend? Thnks, Jeff+Slim
Another great video Jeff.. Have you heard of anyone using a Falcon MD-20 along with the metal detector? Using a VLF detector to find a target, and then us a Falcon to decide on digging the target or not? I am planning on trying that on my next trip.
Hi Jeff, greetings from Papua New Guinea. Love your videos and love your energy. Just a quick question, what would be the best gold detector on the market that YOU would recommend.
Nice find Jeff! Your production value is really getting professional in these videos... Hope they give you a tv show one day even though I don't have a TV or cable lol... Could you tell me where to find Gold in the Los Angeles area? I built a sluice box and have a metal detector and panning supplies.
for l.a. county guies, recommend east fork san gabriel river (highway 39 off ramp off the 210 freeway go into the mountains follow the signs for east fork turnoff pleanty of gold in that east fork of the river good prospecting
Another great video Jeff. I would like to find some of those nuggets myself. When Metal detecting it's hard because of all the junk out there, i try to dig every target but with so much junk it's hard to find nuggets. a person should play with the detector and listen to what a nugget sounds like and what a bullet, or casing sounds like.
Hi Ralph yes I know all to well about finding lost junk. Got a nice collection of it too and trust me we have but the rule of thumb is to Dig every target. Jeff
superscaryeti check the cracks in the bedrock. Suck out any dirt that you can get out of the bedrock and pan that out. If there is Gold in that area it will be in those cracks. Jeff and Slim
really digging (no pun), your new detector Jeff. I've never seen a unit with its capabilities and ease of use. well worth the $2300 (on Amazon) price tag. can't wait until you find some 1/2 pound or bigger nugs.
Shawn Grage Hi Shawn , well lets see. I really like the Garret ATX and Minelab 5000 for P.I. macines and of course I like Whites GMT and Fishers Gold Bug 1 and 2 for the small stuff not to mention the MD 20 for seam deposits. Each situation calls for a different detector and coil ( mono and Double D- 6 inch to 24 inch ) so those are my tip detectors we use in the field. Jeff and Slim
Jeff, Thanks for the information. Indeed it's worth it weight in gold. I got it printed and bound. Looks like it's going to take a couple of pots of good coffee for me to get through it all. Again thanks for sharing.
Oh I thought that looked like the 20 acre claim. We actually have a claim that is on the southern end of the arroyos. That was a nice little piece though....keep up the good work.
hi greetings from british columbia canada ...as always a great vid ...maybe you can give me some advice re metal detecting set up on very hot bedrock ....i have a claim on the fraser river ...lots of friable bedrock ...normally vacuum it and find gold pickers ...bought a tesoro (original) lobo thinking to just be able to pick out pickers ... there is so much iron and copper in the bed rock it is hard to ground balance...sounds off all the time can i discriminate out hotness? was thinking discriminate and use a small picker to set the discrimate balance ...also have you used hand held pi pinpointers like the pistol pro or anything similar...thinking using something like that to scan bedrock out crops ...thanks ...you make great vids ...mickey miner
Hi Jake that was in a section of 20 acres they bought not to long ago. In the book it is just referred to as 20 acres and it is a small box on the map. Jeff
Hey Jeff , aren't hot rocks pieces of meteorites . OOOOOOOOH HOWDY ! Jeff I was testing my gold fillings and the one in my left molar I had to pull to make and even ounce. My Garrett pointer pro is in hok now because I had to pay the dentist to fix the hole .
"Hot Rocks" are not pieces of meteorites, they're terrestrial rocks that contain high levels of iron and will trick your detector, its a false positive. Most VLF detectors will pick up hot rocks. If you find a target... If you push the coil to the target and it makes a sound, its more than likely metal, if the detector makes a sound pulling away from the target, more than likely its a hot rock or mineralized ground.
i found gold in gold basin but wasn't able to find anything in lost basin. Also noticed that the higher elevation areas both in gold basin and lost basin areas have red color material in the contact zone between bedrock. But found no gold by panning. Little bet lower elevation areas of gold basin there are small fine gold in dry creeks.
Jeff, question. How common is it to find gold near quartz? We are in the process of digging up a piece of quartz which is not pure white, but has a red tint to it. We estimate the rock at maybe 400 pounds, possibly more. There are also lots of little pieces of quartz in this area. Some are red and some are pure white...
Hey Jeff, I LOVE your videos and even called down to your store yesterday to inquire about some equipment and your trips. What an informative crew you have. They learned from the best I'm sure. Lol. Anyway, my question is about Utah and prospecting here. I'm not sure if you know about Park City Utah and the surrounding area, so I'll tell you the situation. Park City was started after the Mountain Meadows Massacre , committed by a radical group of Mormons. They dressed as Ute Indians and slaughtered all the settlers that were in the Salt Lake Valley. There were some minors from the east headed west for the gold rush and we're stranded. They were afraid of the Mormon group who committed the massacre, so they ae up here to the Park City area to settle. Park City gained it's wealth from all of the silver which was found. There are over 720 different abandoned mines in the Park City area alone!!! So, are there any tips you can give me about getting gold and silver here? Also, do you know of any other areas in Utah where I could find some decent gold? Btw, you should come up here to this area and see what damage you can do! Lol. I know what you said about detecting for tailings at old mine entrances. Well, thanks again for the great laughs and awsome show. Say hi to Slim for me, Graciously, Ryan
Great video Jeff as usual! I am still up in the motherlode with Hurthawk and we been getting lots of that yellow stuff!! Keep up the good work and take care, Ron p.s. Slim looks alittle hungover in this video. I think a bloodymary is in order.. later
A few months ago I was watching a documentary on the southern island of New Zeland. One of those neat educational reality shows. They panned the beaches and found gold in the black sands I did not know that they had a gold strike there in the late 1800s. Lot of neat history out there. Or all the ship wrecks up here in the sound and all the sunken gold but the current is too fast moving to get to any of it.
I just moved up to valle az for the summer months. Any tips on where to go prospecting around me? I know that AU is up here! Matter a fact, the owner of the property I'm staying on his mother is a chief of the huwalapai tribe. Been trying to tickle their brains for some good spots to go but still making friends..

Jeff, I'm digging around just south of there with a Supertraq and a Microsluice. I haven't found squat! Is it all ore where I'm at? Do I need my own "Slim" or do I need to just keep diggin?
actually there is Gold there. He is something that might help. Slim told me of a book that has secret places in it for Gold. He said the name of the book is Arizona little known placers by Ronald S. Weilgus. Slim says that should get you going in the right places. Jeff
@@Askjeffwilliams Thanks Jeff ya I just bet you can the source it a high placer of old small stream wish you could come see it some time it's around the 6t thousand ft. In the El Dorado Forest Can.👍😄😁😀😏💀☺️🤔🖐️
I just bought a Whites GMT from the "Letgo" website. The seller received it as a gift and never used it. It was never assembled or out of the box. The components were still sealed in the various plastic bags inside the box. I bought this brand new GMT, E series Goldmaster detector for $500.00. I drove 174 miles one way to pick it up on my day off from work. It seems to be functioning properly. I'm learning how to use it. I found a couple 22 LR casings and some old jars with metal lids buried in a small ravine/canyon wall on my property. The jars were down about 6" and the casings were just below the surface.
Hey Jeff, Ever think the golds not just in the pan? Itcould also be in your hand buddy. Check both the scoop and your hand. ( I get the rings on) Could be more than just one nugget. Love your videos keep, it up, I just don't want to see you possibly throwing out nuggys
just wondering about that 'hot rock' you found, could there not be gold hidden in it? would it be worth putting through a crusher or hitting it with a hammer to see whats inside? thanks for posting these. i learn as much as i laugh, if my teachers at school were funny while teaching like you, i woulda learned more there and less about pool in the billiard halls
Jeff, using this technique for finding the nugget - aren't you possibly throwing away nuggets if you have managed to get more than one nugget in your shovel at one time? I say you check what you hold in your hand and check your shovel...you may be throwing away gold -- remember to take of that ring!
***** no problem brother. Keep up those videos, very inspirational. I think slim should have his own show though, there is way too much competition between you guys and he never does any of the work.
how come you're not using Fisher gold bug? I went to gold basin the ground is too noisy found no nugget. But panned the dry river and find lots of small flakes of gold. where is the best area for drywashing gold basin or king tut?
THATS ANOTHER GREAT INFO VID THERE JEFF IVE BEEN TO SCOTLAND AND FOUND ,,,, NUTHIN BUT I'M GOIN TO KEEP TRYIN ESPECIALLY NOW WITH MY METAL DETECTOR LOL THANKS KEITH PS IS SLIM LOOKING A LITTLE FATTER OR IS IT JUST ME
Hi Jeff I found a big quartz rock very heavy I broke it in half it was very hard to break. I'd like to send you a pic of it see what you think It looks like I can get a lot of gemstomes out of it. please and thank you
hi jeff just click on my icon and I put pics of my quartz do you think I might be getting close to the gold? there is a mine of these rocks quartz type.
Jeff... you said that you were in Nevada, but yet you said that nugget was a pretty nugget from Arizona. How'd the heck it get that far north... unless you gave it a ride.
hay Jeff got any Ideals on how too bring up a treasure chest buried deep on the edge of the sea when I try to get it the sand keeps rushing back in it,s down about 6 foot
really you are wonderful. I got a GMT gold detector, but I did not get a manual to set it to work. You can explain to me how to set the switches to operate it to extract gold, because my country, Egypt, its eastern desert is full of gold and I want to search for gold in it. Thank you very much, Mr. Jeff.
what type of detector is that or what do you prefer im looking at getting a mine lab as im heading out west to BC posibly for work and would like to pick up some prspecting
That is a Whites Gold Master VLF. Minelab makes a great PI machine ( GPX 5000 ) but if that is out of your range I would recommend the Garret ATX for about 2 grand. Easy to use and finds little Gold too. Jeff
+Rob Mart Hi Rob, no I was watching that vid and the trick is to have the threshold sound off slightly on the down stroke. Must have been the heat. Jeff and Slim

alain provost im also in Quebec province ! Do you find something ? : )
Hey Jeff,
Ever think the golds not just in the pan? Itcould also be in your hand buddy. Check both the scoop and your hand. ( I get the rings on)
Could be more than just one nugget.
Love your videos keep, it up, I just don't want to see you possibly throwing out nuggys
thanks, will have to remember that.
JS
great video, that looks fun to try.
Love yur shows brother
thanks Kevin
just wondering about that 'hot rock' you found, could there not be gold hidden in it? would it be worth putting through a crusher or hitting it with a hammer to see whats inside?
thanks for posting these. i learn as much as i laugh, if my teachers at school were funny while teaching like you, i woulda learned more there and less about pool in the billiard halls
could be will crush it when i get the chance. Thanks for the great compliments too. Jeff
Have you or Slim stumbled across any meteorites yet?
Jeff, using this technique for finding the nugget - aren't you possibly throwing away nuggets if you have managed to get more than one nugget in your shovel at one time?
I say you check what you hold in your hand and check your shovel...you may be throwing away gold -- remember to take of that ring!
Hi Stephen, trust me we go over every thing at least twice before moving on out of the hole. Jeff
Gold Basin but for Nuggets King Tut.
What headphones do you use with the GMT?
Nice video from Arizona Jeff and Slim
Could you show us how to make a metal detector? That would be awesome!
Aidan Gieg wow I never thought about it but it will go onto the list. Thanks for the idea.

Jeff... you said that you were in Nevada, but yet you said that nugget was a pretty nugget from Arizona. How'd the heck it get that far north... unless you gave it a ride.
Stan Louis I am from Nevada but we go to AZ a lot for Gold and that is out at the King Tut placers.
Jeff and Slim

I want to watch a video for you that shows that the device is in the gold detection position. Thank you again
really you are wonderful.
Jeff
thanks ill definetly have a look a the garret wont be getting one till all the snows gone though
Will a pinpointer help with them nuggets??
I love this guy !!!
Thanks Jeff
so is a hot rock just a chunk of iron?
Hey Jeff ,love your programs but I can see what the old sun can do to you.LOL
Hi Bill ya gotta watch out cause the sun will cook ya til your poor brain aint right. Jeff
Remember, in Slims mind you still owe him a nugget to replace the one he had..:)
Whats the biggest nugget you found?
Good stuff!
Love your videos
thanks
So do you ground balance with a slight sound on the up stroke?
+Rob Mart Hi Rob, no I was watching that vid and the trick is to have the threshold sound off slightly on the down stroke. Must have been the heat.
