    If these things were truly in situ, and treated so rough shod in a treasure hunt, I am saddened by the loss of archeological context, and value. That such item could tell a story and be shared with the public in a museum is lost with such removal.

      Someone have to explain him about the fact than containers are a treasure itself, and the only chance to know about how did it was buried, which was the historical context, and who possibly possessed thes thing is when you firstly uncover it. All goes to the hell when predator feels the prey... Sure thing, adrenaline pumps ur blood and you rush for it, but the next time think about why archaeologists do use brushes and little spatulas for caving? For not to scratch, or damage artefacts. I can ensure you, if you go and do something like that around Spain, you go to jail with no excuses, just to prove, look about someone called Adrian who found a bunch of celtic axes, and washed one or two ow it with soap at home, my man, he felt all the toughness of the Spanish law...

    When I am digging up a target I use a heavy hatchet and hammer it down right where the target is. That way you stand a better chance of hitting and damaging the target like the guy on this video. Also, when the dirt around the target is damp and then the target itself is completely dry there is a slight credibility problem. Oh yeah, when you dig up anything gold out of the dirt it has a brilliant vivid gold tone to it. Not a dull brass tone that you see on the item you re-buried. I have dug gold coins and they come up looking brilliant no matter how long they are buried. as a 35 year metal detectorist I see so many problems with this video!

    • @oink-oink8721
      @oink-oink8721 Рік тому +19

      You're absolutly right . I've also been on the field for 30 years, but it's not as easy as it is shown here. Especially since it looks as if the ruins are an archaeological monument that was probably uncovered by archaeologists. However, these archaeologists must have been very poor because they do not seem to have had a metal detector to carry out the archaeological dig correctly. To me this all looks like it was planned buried for click bait on the channel. Who should think that's real at 31:02? I've been collecting axes from different eras for years. I've seen axes made by beginners in a school, but none looked as crappy and clumsy as these. The ax handle looks like an old chair leg, and I'm not even talking about the other junk that was in the rather modern box.
      And again, the detector community has one more part to add to their already bad reputation.

    Well your description above did state that your video was meant to be educational. And it is, all for the wrong reasons. From a formal archaeological perspective, you have documented how NOT to conduct a site excavation. I question the authenticity of the "artifacts" you uncovered. The big wooden chest seemed too good to be true! Those so-called coins looked a little like they had been roughly cut from a sheet of thin metal...and I wouldn't put money on them being silver, platinum, titanium or anything remotely valuable. I am also curious as to the site location.

    *To everyone liking this video and making good comments* : If this is real this is a huge mistake. All these items or treasures (whatever you want to call them), are sources of information that can be deducted from their own existence in a certain place. All of these extractions should be turelly documented and analyzed by experts and credited professionals. Their conclusions are to become what we call history. Expertise and professionalism are what took the human kind so far and (if this is real) this is a setback. We all understand the natural human sense for discovery and exploration but would you motivate your children to drive without a drivers license? Same applies here.

      when digging around our house my hubby had a digger on site and dug 2ft deep all along the end of the house, I went in moved 2 shovel fulls of soil and found a gold ring. sadly it broke in two but so pleased i found it. That was real unlike this performance, still good entertainment.

      He is right. In Romania (Eastern Europe) you'd get a hefty fine, if not jail time. Plus everything you'd find would be confiscated by the state. You need authorisation to own and use metal detectors here and the use of these machines is prohibited at historical sites.

    Every metal detectorist's dream. Awesome finds.. Jewellery and coins in one site. Every Archologists nightmare removing artifacts from the site. At least there is a record of the finds with this video. When he broke the lid on the chest my heart sank. Now I want to know more about the fort the history of it and who did that armour belong too.? what period is it from. Well done on the discovery shame that no will know who this was and remember the warrior and his story. What was his rank if he was part of an army etc. Did he bury his armour for a reason like retirement or knowing he enemy where about to defeat his fort. Such concealment of armour what a find.
