It's funny this was so obviously originally intended for Berserk (same composer for Eva and the Berserk animes), like the lyrics are straight up about guts, griffith and the band of the hawk.

Yeah you're not alone, I'm trying really hard to figure out why every version of this song has that sound in it and why it seems like many people don't hear it, I just rewatched 3.33 and there is no such sound in it in that part of the music. It's been bugging me since I first saw the film

It's on the "To do" list. Don't know when it'll be done (I'm trying to concentrate on Shiro Sagisu's work primarily) but hopefully it'll be ready sometime next year...But I can't promise anything.

I agree that the original TV show and the movie "End of Evangelion" are superior I do still enjoy the rebuild movies very much. I wouldn't say any of them are bad whatsoever.
