I actually really like that Japan Candy and Sakuraco use the original packaging; to me, it's part of the "real" Japanese experience. I want to see what other people would see.
We went to Japan this past Summer and loved it so much. We would love to find a way to relive some of the culinary experiences we had and try ones we missed. Love your videos.
I tried to guess what you would pick as your #1 pick and while i agree with you that Sakuraco would would be my personal favorite, i think Tokyo Treat has the widest appeal to the most people with such a WIDE variety! I especially like the drink and ramen in the Tokyo Treat box, as it gives you a chance to kinda try a quick and kinda cheap Japanese themed meal. However i LOVE the more elegant and relaxed overall theme of the Sakuraco box. I have been seriously wanting to try and revive my intrest in tea and i love the little tea cup or saucer or whatever little extra item comes in that box. Honestly, before this year is over I'll probably be subscribed to both Tokyo Treat and Sakuraco. Thank you for all your wonderful research!
Very thorough video. My wife is Japanese-American and loves shopping in Asian markets for treats. Which one do you think she woukd like for most authentic experience?
Hmm you have a few options depending on what you mean by authentic... Sakuraco is most authentic for Japanese traditional sweets and calm tea time Tokyo Treat is best if you want a similar excitement of finding cool junky snacks in the Asian supermarket. You can check out our more recent videos on both subscription options if you want a better look inside (hopefully will help you see which one your wife would like more!) where we unbox the content inside 4-6 boxes over several months 😊
All those Japanese snacks are just too good to resist, cuz I'm a Midwestern American who love international snacks, especially from Germany, Japan, Sweden, and Brazil. 😋😋😋
From what we know - the options are very limited for dietary-specific Japanese snack boxes. We know Tokyo Treat has one but it isn't a monthly subscription so the snack options don't change. Here's the link to it: bit.ly/3PNLjjJ @finallyawakened3350
i saw an ad for bokksu and i was like i totally wanna do that! but i wanted to see a review and the first video i saw was your bokksu vs tokyo treat review then i saw sakuraco and i was like "is bokksu really not as good as i thought? so i came here ansd i think ive decided to ditch bokksu for sakuraco especially since theres 2 of each and my freind wont feel like shes taking anything from me when i share it with her c: ty for making this! +
All 3 boxes you mention are great options in our opinion, but it’s a matter of what you’re looking for we feel. Sakuraco has great themed boxes that we continue to look forward to 😊 Do share with us what you think of it once you’ve taken time to savour the experience of your 1st box. Happy munching! 😋
You should base price points with shipping included. You indicated that Sakuraco was cheaper but they charge about $13 in shipping which puts them average with the others. My only issue with Sakuraco is it's the same snacks month after month just different flavors. I would like to see new items. And my kitchenware is plastic mass produced bowls that are already scratched.
Good point about the shipping! We chose not to base the price point on shipping included because it varies depending on the country they're shipping to, and we wanted to keep our video relevant to as many people as possible. For example, Japan Candy Box is free shipping for all countries they ship to, Sakuraco charges $12.50 for most countries, Tokyo Treat charges $10.50 - $12.50 depending on the country group. Then, there's Bokksu which has free shipping UK and US but charges $22.99 for UAE and $9.99 for Australia, Canada and other parts of Europe too. We'll leave the links to their shipping info here so you guys can compare for your own countries: help.tokyotreat.com/hc/en-us/articles/360059099914-Shipping-Information (Sakuraco is also owned by Tokyo Treat, so the info here should be the same, but you can also check out the pricing once you're on the checkout page which we think would be more accurate) www.bokksu.com/pages/faq
I don’t know what plastic ware you are talking about, the plate I got is definitely a ceramic or glass. Also not sure what you’re doing with your stuff to scratch it up in a short period of time.
Yes, they all do worldwide shipping. But the shipping method depends on the destination country. They all have detailed breakdown on their shipping methods in their sites’ FAQs. Hope this helps 😊
Has anyone else had a problem with the postage on Japan Candy Box? The last 2 months the USPS has flagged the postage as counterfeit when they aren't .
These are all subscription based. You could subscribe and then cancel (this is what we did before) but we have seen a lot of people (especially in US) complain about not being able to cancel their subscription. So we'll let you know if we come across any that aren't!
@@honestfoodtalks I figured it was because they wouldn't send you a free box lol. I know a lot of UA-camrs nowadays don't like to pay for things out of their own pocket.
We've subscribed to Japan Crate but unfortunately they're having delays with shipment to the UK for several months now. We can see this as a frequent complaint on their Instagram page and on UA-cam too. We've been in contact with customer service but unfortunately we were told the box we ordered can no longer be shipped and that they will send the following month's box. We won't go into more detail here, but when we do receive it (it's now been more than 2 months of waiting), we'll make a video and make sure to let you know! 😊
im planning to buy from tokyo treat but i dont want to pay for a box every month lol. i just want to buy one box so i can try it and see if i like it,, does it work if i buy the monthly plan and cancel right after to get delivered only one box? or do i have to cancel after i received the box to my address? or does it not work at all gjfdgdfjgjfd
From our experience, we've not had any issues with cancelling the monthly subscription. You can email their customer support to cancel the monthly plan too as long as you do it before your monthly renewal. However, we have seen people complain about the process of cancelling (but not sure if this is because they've committed to the 3, 6 or 12 months plan to get a cheaper deal). We recommend getting in touch with their customer support to get more information. Hope this helps!
06:42 "if you're buying this for yourself, the nibbles will DEFINITELY last you the whole month", you underestimate me. That box ain't lasting 24 hours
As if I'd subscribe to Bokksu to give it to someone else. Nah ah... those treats are for me. I might share with a friend (probably not) but gift the entire box? It's only 12 a year, it's not that many. And one box barely lasts a month.
I used to get Japancrate forever ago and really enjoyed it. Looking at all the options now I'm just not sure I can justify the price anymore. In Canadian its close to 70$ across the board, regardless of which you choose. Especially when you end up with dagashi (cheap candy) in a lot of the boxes, it really isnt worth it anymore.
Ah, we understand exactly how you feel about justifying the price! It's one of the reasons why we started doing these reviews - we thought a lot of people out there would want to know if it's actually worth it.
Sakuraco seems to be great, but I don't like their annual billing. I'd prefer a monthly billing. I don't have 390 dollars to spend at a time once per year...that's a big 👎🏼 for me
For an occasional treat, or for testing any snack box, we also prefer monthly orders. It’s quite the commitment for an annual plan 😆 but for loyal fans and those wanting regular snack boxes, a longer subscription period would turn out cheaper in the end. To each their own 😊
If you're looking to see exactly what's inside each box you can head to our other videos where we reviewed them one by one here: ua-cam.com/video/79yN8mmhYD4/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared ua-cam.com/video/g6HFxiKd7Pg/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared Or check out our articles on our website: www.honestfoodtalks.com/review/

@@honestfoodtalks It was am awesome trip. We are already planning to go back in a couple of years 😄
Great review guys! Didn't know about Japan Candy Box until now
Thank you :) Hope you enjoy it!
never purchased any snackboxes i went with sakuraco the pastries oriented sweets drew me to it.
Glad you found the right box for you 😊
Thanks for this video! A really good review that actually helped.

This is such a good video, UK too! Perfect, thanks for reviewing! :)
Thank you 🙏😊 hope you found the snack box for you!
Great review guys, thanks!
Thanks for watching and leaving a nice comment ☺️ will try and make more of these kind of reviews soon!
For the Bokksu shipping is free. The others shipping is not. So when you add in the shipping, Bokksu is not that expensive.
Yes depending on which country you're from, shipping is free for Bokksu. Unfortunately not for every country 😅

Awesome! Let us know how TokyoTreat was for you 😊
Thanks for the awesome review!
Thanks for the kind words and happy snacking 😊
The first box you get from Bokksu is an intro box, that's why there was no theme.
The first theme for Bokksu is always Seasons of Japan but you are correct to say it is an intro box to their services ☺
All those Japanese snacks are just too good to resist, cuz I'm a Midwestern American who love international snacks, especially from Germany, Japan, Sweden, and Brazil. 😋😋😋
Oh we've not really tried snacks from Sweden before. Any you recommend?

Yes it's an extra $75 just for 6 months shipping to where I live. That's a deal breaker for me...
