Amazing list! Small correction: the "vanilla" batch of Fahrenheit was only in 2013, steering more towards the soon-to-be-launched Le Parfum. It was then reformed again in 2014. The main difference in the vintage compared to newer formulations is the chemical methyl heptine carbonate (MHC), which was heavily restricted already in the mid-90s. Later formulations do away with Lyral, MOC, and MHC or reduce them to minimal levels. This leads to the newer formulations being lighter, more green, and showcasing a lesser barrel note. I do agree with you, though; the "soul" of the fragrance hasn't been lost, and the reformulations are quite apt at preserving the core essence, maybe even making it more palatable for a modern consumer. I love my 1989 bottle, though-extremely leathery in the drydown compared to post-2000 batches I've tested and owned.
Kouros was basically indie, that thing was waaay ahead of it s time and the creativity and the quality that it had was miles better than other niche fragrances. I can guarantee that if you put Kouros into a Roja bottle, no one would say sh*t about the pricetag, and everyone will praise it for quality and uniqueness. my favorite oldschool fragrance, right alongside Eau Sauvage from Dior, that i think is a staple for summer. I smelled many niche freshies but nothing, i mean..nothing touches my brain the way Eau Sauvage does, ...if only was an extrait version, with the same smell but more powerful...
@@RamseytheRam I have purchased some of them in the past thanks to your advice: Ténére, Kouros, Boss Number One, Furyo, Givenchy Gentleman, Aramis aramis, Lapidus pour homme. Ramsey, I'm looking to get Fendi Uomo and I was looking for your review first...you definitely need to do a full review on this. When it comes to vintage fragrances, you're the one I seek out. Get on it man lol
I bought Bogart Furyo a bit ago on ebay for about $85. It's really good. I prefer that over Lapidus Pour Homme. Although i will order the Ted Lapidus Pour Homme eventually too. But the Bogart Furyo which i do not think was vintage is still very good. Though i do wonder if the vintage version is better. I'm not sure.

Ranking this list would be an impossible task for me, But then again I can happily rank furyo, aramis 900 and givenchy gentlemen 1974 in my top 5. Antaeus and boss number one would be fighting to be on that list though.
Would also put Arrogance pour homme (1982), edt or edp (which is very rare), beautiful oldschool italian powerhouse! Also newer batches are cheap and available, also veeerry good!
I love the castoreum accord in Fendi Uomo, maybe my favorite castoreum sauce. Although I have and could comment on most of these, Aramis also stands out to me. Wore it recently and was bowled over by how good it was after my nose has developed more. It’s like a leather bounce house. So deep.
Fantastic list. I love vintage Kouros and Giorgio Beverly Hills for Men. But my favorite vintage powerhouse fragrance has to be Van Gils pour Homme (AKA Van Gils Classic), another brilliant Pierre Wargnye creation. If you ever find a vintage bottle, go for it!
Hi, very good review. I'm disagree only with Veejaga. I had deep vintage in non-trasparent black bottle (not Hascish Black). So it was not so potent, but solid cologne. 4 sprays were nauseating. Sweet butter for me.
Definitely lean into the older version of Jules. I had a 5ML of what had to be the newer/current version and it smelled like a chemical mess, like the perfumeur who created it had too much to drink that day. I didn't even finish it. Fabulous list with many of entries on my "buy wish list".
What a list this was! I believe Furyo on this list tops all the rest when it comes to longevity. But my favorite scent and never want to be without is chanel antaeus. I have every single version and over 1000ml juice all put together. Great video, as always!
@RamseytheRam I don't want to waste it like that. I'll just spray generously each time I wear it. Modern bottles have less castoreum and oakmoss. It still lasts for a while, especially if you spray under your shirt. That way, every time you move, you get the waft of it all day.
I own modern versions of Antaeus and Fahrenheit but have never had the good fortune of smelling any of these fragrances in their original formulations. Therefore, it would be great to see a video where you recommend a modern (or currently available) alternative of each fragrance. However, I suspect nothing current comes close? 😕
Agree with a lot of this but I don't recommend buying the modern iterations of almost all of them, as the results will be extremely disappointing. Certainly, something like modern-day Kouros will just make you sad. Azzaro pour Homme is one of the very few that is still pretty good, although not as rounded or as full as it once was, but still worth buying.
I have a vintage special edition of Aramis called 'super concentrated cologne' and it must be basically a pure parfum or extrait concentration because it's nuclear and it's the first thing i can smell when i open my cabinet, and that's through the atomiser and lid, ha.... other honourable mentions for big masculin's i own is vintage Roger & Gallet l'homme and original Angel Men in vintage form is massive.
@RamseytheRam There's been a big perfume auction event in Paris these last couple of days with some of the rarest and museum quality art deco, pre & and post-war perfumes ever made... the amount of Rare Guerlain extraits all still sealed was unreal... Chypre 53, Chypre de Paris, Kadine, Patchouly, Ambre, Ode, Fleurs Du Guildo, White Rose, Rocco A La Parisienne, Violette Qui Embaume, Fol Arome, Vega, Djedi, Sous Le Vent, Apres L'ondee, Cuir de Russie, and not just one bottle either, but multiples of everything in all different sizes, even 250ml in extraits I've never seen or knew existed.. long story short there were 4 CDR's (30, 60, 80 & 120ml) and after sitting through the online auction for two days, I managed to get the smallest CDR , still eye watering, along with a 60ml L'heure Bleue (butter dish bottle like Djedi's) and Vega 80ml all original extrait versions.... now I just need to sell off a 1/3 of my collection off, to pay my credit card!😬🤣.... but I'm telling myself Guerlain are a bargin, in comparison to all the art deco perfumes that were going for 5k, 10k, 15k+ haha and it's a good job I'm divorced or I would be when the statement plus auction fees and shipping hits home. 🤣🤣
