  • My name is Mischa Gelb and I run BC Helicopters with my wife Amy and my brother Sancho. In each video I take you along for the life and adventures of a helicopter pilot. In this video I do a review of the HeliSAS autopilot by Genesys on the Robinson R66. This is an STC that was approved in 2015. Here is a link for it:
    genesys-aerosys...
    The cots is $46,000 to get it added to the R66.

      Why two? If your going to waste money get a Bell 407 be about same price as 2 R66 2 million + depends on options and you would get a 4 blade rotor not as much vibration is what that equals. Just saying.

    Great video as always! Regarding the autopilot, well that’s what it is supposed to do, isn’t it? But that’s not what flying a VFR helicopter is supposed to be.
    If you pay USD 600 or more per hour to fly that thing, you may as well enjoy being at the controls.

    • @TimToussaint
      @TimToussaint 7 років тому +1

      Pilot Yellow Fortunately or unfortunately, I am not sure. For starters, the autopilot has no concept of height (altitude above ground level). So it can’t really make that call. As a minimum it would need input from a radar altimeter.

    • @PilotYellow
      @PilotYellow  7 років тому +1

      Yes that's a good point, you wouldn't want it to pull it down at 15 feet.
