I have the same bike, and colour, mine has 15,500 miles and akrapovic pipes but more or less standard. Absolutely love it and it’s night and day to the zx6r it replaced!!
Mine is almost exactly the same configuration, Red, with the Devil pipes. Slight variation in body work, my lowers are also red. I have a gas cap, instead of a aircraft style. I migrated from the 98 R1 (bought new R&W). In 2022. Am very happy and thrilled with the bike. Yamaha somehow made the seating posture, and position exactly, and precisely the same.
Aye, that's my girl I bought for my 50'th birthday. I'm 69 now and it's showroom with 10k miles. Gorgeous and brutal as you stated. Explosive after 11k rpm. Keeper. 10.004 at 140mph at the 1/4 mile with my son who's 1/2 my weight, lol. I just like starting it and looking at it now. Cheers from the left coast.
For looks, it's right up there for me! Long trips are comfy enough, but at the same time I've only ever ridden supersports bikes so only have those as a reference point.
I never have issues with mine, or the 98, you become conditioned to the seating posture, and It's actually an aspect that I love about it. I'm good for 2 hours at a stretch, then you need feul, and can get back on, I can go all day like that.

Mine is now sold, but I loved my time with it, I'd have another in the future, no problem!

Nice bike, the fz1 uses the same motor detuned, both the R1 and FZ1 fantastic bikes
I've not been on the FZ1, I did have an FZ6 for about 3 months and just didn't get on with it!
I just got the anniversary edition yellow with 10k miles. Don’t sell it. You’ll regret it. I regret selling every bike I’ve had
I'm not regretting it yet! Mind you I have no garage at the moment. I do fancy a bit of a change next time, power but more street looking.
You need to change those horrible stock levers for some shorter adjustable ones, would look way better. 👍
I have the 05 29k miles for sale at the minute. Recently bought an mt10
I think you'll find the 954 blade had the best power to weight ratio in 2003 couple of years before the r1
MCN is quoting 168kg and 149bhp for the blade, so I'm sticking with it
Best looking supersport bike of its age. Maybe my fav ever.
How do you feel about long trips on it?

These model R1 are quite slim and long excellent build quality with yamaha. But for power and looks and excitement zx10r all day
@@CJRSBK this year r1 over zx10r anyday to me. its sexier and way more of a looker
@Juicybignut00 naaaah my all in green zx10r turns more heads than this model r1 with its full titanium racefit exhaust. Gen 3 zx10r more power aswell
