    I had the chickenwing problem for most of the time since I started playing and slowly but surely get my elbow to the inside. It‘s hard work, but it pays off!
    Ps: constant filming helps a lot.

    Lol I always thought chicken winging the ball was when you threw with your elbow kind of bent a lil bit 😄🍗💪

    • @SirJoelsuf1
      @SirJoelsuf1 2 роки тому +1

      That has...something to do with it. Keeping the elbow bent is fine as long as it remains on the inside. In fact, some of the best bowlers in the world throw it with their elbow almost completely bent, which is a goal of mine. Once I master that, I'll be matched up properly.

      Spin to win! lol
      Seriously, it isn't too difficult to run a 210+ average if the place you bowl at has a nice scorable house shot. I mean I've been a speed dominant spin biscuit more of my 20+ years in this sport and can usually average 200+ anywhere I go if I can cover my spares. But that doesn't make ANYONE competitive. Even those who average 230+ will tell you that.

    • @SirJoelsuf1

      @@rickdavis8410 No. I've seen 230+ average bowlers go to regional tournaments and other scratch sweepers and struggle to average 180. And yet I've seen bowlers average only 205 or so get to semifinals in match play.

    I'm a 202 average; and I still find that I chicken wing sometimes. Mostly it's from not trusting that my shot will recover off the spot or when I'm struggling with 10 pin spares. If I do that on my league nights; I go back to the alley the next day and work my mechanics out

  • @SirJoelsuf1
    @SirJoelsuf1 2 роки тому +1

    I used to chicken wing it so bad that my palm would be towards the pins on the release lol. Think my axis rotation was at least 140 degrees or so haha. Spin biscuit on steroids. Isn't much better now, it's still at 90 or 100 even, and that's WITH my elbow in...most of the time :(
    Was always afraid to get forward roll cuz I thought my ball would hit flat. But doing the no step and 1 step drill proved me otherwise. I'm trying to get my tilt at about 30 or 40 degrees.

  • @Popsplace42

    Your videos have been very helpful as I learn! What helps me also, is to keep my palm facing forward and my thumb pointed out away from me, leaving my fingers to the inside as I roll the ball off my hand. Kind of twisting my wrist clockwise as it gets to the bottom of my swing. Is this correct thinking?

  • @futilitarian3809
    @futilitarian3809 Рік тому +1

    Hi. I'm a beginner who has ordered a reactive ball but in the meantime is just hacking away at house balls. I can hook the ball thumb out, but with the thumb in I feel a lot of torque on my middle finger, a lateral force which seems to be occurring during outward rotation of the hand. It feels quite unnatural. Is this because my fingers are too far in, or is there another reason? Thanks.

    So my question is this; I have one of those elbows that deflects my arm to the outside. So if I let my arm hang straight down with the crease of my elbow facing straight in front of me, my hand is several...maybe even 6 or so...inches away from my body. It's nearly impossible for me to stay behind the ball without the and get the ball close to my ankle. How do you fight this?

    • @Monk-Amani.
      @Monk-Amani. 2 роки тому +1

      @Sean Beck • I suggest that you explore videos on, Arm swings, and ball positions in stance. You may need have the ball directly in front of your right leg with your head over the ball, then move the ball slightly left (if right handed)on the 1st or 2nd step(4 or 5 step delivery) It may feel as if the ball the ball is bumping out, but if the focus is on keeping the elbow inside throughout the swing, it should fall back in line. Study videos on the topic and video yourself before and after during the process. Explore how your body works and what works for you. Perfection is personal. It's different for everyone. Good luck.

    • @SirJoelsuf1
      @SirJoelsuf1 2 роки тому +1

      Do the no step drill that Art mentions every other video for an ENTIRE three game set. We're talking three games straight of it. Simply put, you need to get your hips out of the way in your approach. This is what the modern bowling approach has demanded for decades. Keeping everything square has NEVER been effective and there have been dozens of studies on this since the 1990s I believe.
      I used to throw it exactly like back in the 70s-80s and had almost the exact same issue you had. I straight up COULDN'T get the ball close to my ankle because I was so square. Solution? Needed to get my left arm in front of me, forcing my hips and a$s to get to the left (and it STILL isn't left enough since implementing it in 2014).
      Once you get your hips and a$s to the left everything else will fall in place.

    • @Dainslaif
      @Dainslaif 2 роки тому

      The difference is in the timing - ideally you want to keep your hand inside until the last possible second, and then get around the ball at the bottom of the swing.
