    Hello to all our great subscribers! We hope your 2021 is much better than the last year! We wanted to show everyone how to paint silicone glue especially if you are repairing leather or vinyl this even works on boat seating. ****Quote of the Day: The first step in the acquisition of wisdom is silence, the second listening, the third memory, the fourth practice, the fifth teaching others.***

      Unfortunately sometimes the majority is just in the minds of people because that's what they're told. Evidence what is happening in today's climate. Descending opinions are being squashed exponentially. This is indeed a new world.
      If you are not familiar with the term, Google "the great reset" and I believe will be amazed. It is indeed an eye-opening thought.

    Quick question, in a separate video it seems like you used silicone to fill in cracked leather without mixing it with paint. In that case, was it because you used SEM leather paint that it could adhere to silicone without mixing?

    • @SweetProjectCars
      @SweetProjectCars  3 роки тому +10

      We have done this for years and for us it is second nature to do this without mixing, we suggest that you mix the silicone and paint, apply, let dry then do your final spray coat of paint. Hope this helps Ruben, thank you for watching. Have a great day my friend. mad Mike the hammer SPC

    HI, based on your videos (thanks for them!)... the seat crack on driver's side vinyl seat now filled.....BUT darn silicone (same brand you use - since used almost your links to buy most fix-items) only deviation = bought exact color of seat paint from BMW - said could paint on afterwards w/ any type of paintbrush.
    Per your advice, I mixed that paint with the silicone - color was perfect, and did 5 thin coats. very happy with how looks -- and only problem = the silicon is sticky....ughhHH..
    I still intend to paint this seat with the BMW paint - have 3/4 of the bottle left.. but is there something I can do to get the silicome to NOT be sticky first? the BMW paint was expensive and slow to be delivered, and don't want to waste.... if this paint over the silicone enough for it to not be sticky, cool.... but I'm worried that the silicone will still be sticky... and can't have a sticky seat - it'll ruin my clothes..
    Might you toss me some advice?
    Huge Thanks,

If you are a stickler for detail, then you may want to just purchase a new seat from the dealership. I have been looking for paint made for vinyl.
      Can I use just about any paint?
      Will the Rust-Oleum 2X work?
      Can I use GE 100% Silicone or does it need to be the Permatex adhesive silicone?

    Would it work to do exactly what you did here and mix the silicon and paint prior to placing it? Use a clean, hard plastic board (like a small cutting board that's been wiped with 99%) to mix it, then trowl or spread it (depending on whether it's cracks or a larger wear spot) where you need it? That way you kind of mix up a batch that can be consistent across multiple seats with multiple repair spots.

I hope to try on sun dried marine vinyl sun deck and seat areas, not torn or holes but baked from sun and weather from a prior owner not caring to keep indoors or keep a cover on. So this is more of spreading a thin coat of the silicone over the weathered vinyl. Will it stick to vinyl that is not torn? Next the white portions of seats are mildew stained, cannot get stains to come out of the white vinyl. Do you know of anything to remove those type of vinyl stain?

    Another great video by SPC! Question: what types of paint can you mix into the silicone? I guess only oil based, like all spray can paints? Now, if not in a spray can, I would think that I can only use oil based (like Rust-oleum), not water based, correct? Therefore, this would leave out the "artistic acrylic paints" (water based) sold in Walmart, Michaels, etc... as well as latex paints,.is the above correct? Thanks!
