That is an effective illusory sitar effect. The drone strings sound great, and the ability to split the signals between stereo channels is very nice, too.
Think of it as a replacement for an electric sitar (as in Steely Dan: Do It Again). That's not a real sitar either, but I don't think anyone seriously complained.
@Sick1982 Yes you can turn it off. There are basically three "volume" knobs on this thing (located in the upper left corner): dry (as in clean guitar signal), lead (as in sitar lead sound) and sympathetic (the droning sound). So you can blend in or turn off to taste.
i like the pedal i add effects to mine so people think im using a real sitar its how you mix it. I played the stylistics you are everything people was like damn thats that sound. I waiting for a bajo effect now.
@MrMaxrodriguez Electro Harmonix makes quality pedals that have been heard on records dating all the way back to the very late 60's-early 70's, A lot of the pedals you prefer have probably been designed-based upon Electro Harmonix pedals. Good enough for Hendrix, Page, Gilmour, Lifeson, Santana, Burton, Mascis, Cantrell, Thayill, DeLeo, Corgan, Cobain, Frusciante, and many others...good enough for myself, and just about anyone else. Just my opinion...
@Daemonfury1 I know what you mean but i know a few people who would pay more for it. A mate if =mine mixes indian folk music with punk and he would litterally die for this pedal
@dabc587 I don't know, man. Burgs can straight up shred. It's nice to hear some of this gear from more than one player too, cause his style is way different than Andy's. Variety is a good thing, dude.
@dabc587 First of all Burgs is Australian not British. Second of all he can actually play really well but in these demos he is just jamming and trying to show what the pedal can do, he is not trying to show off his playing...
@code933k Well, it won't... but Behringer 'anything' - Good old "German Engineering" made in China using the absolute lowest-end components and cheapest labor available. Or did you think it was magic that lets you buy a 16-channel mixer for $150 or whatever? So noisy you can't record it and so fragile it'll last 5 minutes on the road. Great stuff. Def. spend your money on it.
You'd be surprised at how cool this sounds with a bass.
Man this is one of the best sounding pedals I ever heard. Imagine a looper, this pedal, with the freeze pedal in your rig? oh man....
This would sound really interesting played with slide guitar.
Electro Harmonix is one underrated company! They build the most awesome pedals.

Wow thanks Electro Harmonix now I can play all those sitar hits I've never been able to! ;)
The best demo I have seen of this pedal so far! Quite impressed!!! Nice, Burgs! Thank you!
Lol..or it could introduce people to non-western music like the bands of the 60's were doing. Nothing wrong with that! :)

this would make the phrygian mode sound even cooler oh damn third stone from the sun

Really a great demo thank you!
I love the sound.
ELECTRO-HARMONIX = AWESOMENESS
wow , sounds just like real bagpipes..

I'd say it's more for a fun at home thing but then again people make some interesting music with special sounds.
this thing totally knocks me out. it is pricey, but I want it!
That's actually the reason I like the sound, it's kinda sitaresque in some ways. And it seems quite flexible too.
you make it sound good. thanx 4 that demo.
*light up* *inhale* *sitting back* *closing eyes*
sounds amazing
I was expecting Paint it Black!
Just awesome!!
How would the sound through acoustic with transducer pickup?
I want that. I think it will kill.
I personally think it's badass.
hahaha cool didnt didn't expect that
cool thing
@Sick1982 you can but thats a sitar effect from the sympathetic strings
I love Burgs' playing! What's wrong with you guys???
WHERE'S ANDY!!!!?????
Still a great demo.
aaaaah, electro harmonix...
This!
They make quality equipment, no doubt, but I'm not sure I'd pay $239 for this particular pedal.
would be sick with a fretless could do all that 1/4 pitched stuff
just wondering, can you get the same buzzing effect by just lowering your action?
This was definitely a pedal thats burgs needed to demo.
Does it play well with other pedals?
@Nooseybear he played the intro a few times mixed it in check 2:22 you can hear it there
If you want a sitar sound buy a sitar. this is meant for emulation
OMFG! and I thought I'd had to by the sitar
I was paying attention to the audio, you should sell Maton guitars
cool
@mdognirvana i can't recall anyone ever underrating ehx
What brand of guitar is he using?
This reminds me of "Prince of Parties" by Flight of the Conchords.
@johnypigfinger
Amen brother!!!
when you hit your low note are you using the freeze pedal or is that the sitar also
This is quite possibly the sexiest sounding pedal on the planet....as far as non overdrive pedals go hahah
perhaps i shall try this instead of rebuying a micro synth :D
Beginning almost sounds like he is going to play the beginning theme from Final Fantasy 7.
Or you could buy a sitar?
...George Harrison approved it?
@Daemonfury1 I know what you mean but i know a few people who would pay more for it. A mate if =mine mixes indian folk music with punk and he would litterally die for this pedal

@brownstone28 Maton 'Hooper' MS2000
It said that pretty clearly in the video.
Is that Maton Mastersound? Looks like sweet guitar but i can't electrics or basses from them in Europe, just acoustic -.-.
@Gregrg7
i feel that for the reason that they DONT make a conventional overdrive pedal akin to the B.D. or TS, you should give them your business.
Where are you from?
They need one of these that does bagpipes.
wouw i like it
If you sell Maton guitars at PGS then I will buy it in a heartbeat!
Nothing like the phrase "sitar" in the title to get the pseudo-intellectuals out of the wood work, eh?
@Daemonfury1
You might not pay $239 for the pedal, but it's cheaper than buying a decent sitar : )~
@dabc587 Please, define what it means to play guitar.
Totally impractical, ridiculous, and expensive ... but awesome as hell!
WHERE'S ANDY?
Far out man.
@dabc587 First of all Burgs is Australian not British. Second of all he can actually play really well but in these demos he is just jamming and trying to show what the pedal can do, he is not trying to show off his playing...
@Daemonfury1 Yeah, I'd rather buy the Italia sitar, which they also reviewed.
WHERES ANDY ..?????????.I WANT ANDY
Y U NO USE IT WITH A FUZZ ?!
but it's not bad for an emulation through a guitar.
I wish EH made a conventional overdrive pedal akin to the Blues Driver or Tube Screamer. I'd give them my business.

@code933k this is not a harmonizer at all. The behringer can not do what this pedal does.
boognish
not really. You just need to have an open mind
@dabc587 He Australian. Do you have ears?
do want
u got ur right and left mixed up man
Nice Maton Guitar
239 for a filtered octave up? Shiiiiii
@hihowareyouitsme No. Nothing like this.
@Daemonfury1 +1
I can't be the only one that found this comment hilarious, can I?
As cynical as it is, there's a deal of truth behind it.
C'mon...nothing is a too strong statement.
for 239 meh
So naive....
Burg works for PGS? GTFO!
a real sitar does... duh!
$240? I would just buy a real sitar instead this sounds nothing like a sitar it's just a sitarish processor
Meh, I've never been too fond of the sound of a sitar.
Seems like a bit of a useless pedal to me ,good demo though
sounds nothing like a real sitar
If the guy wanted an authentic sound he'd buy a FU****** sitar!
rubbish sitar.
Awful
