Angelina combines all aspects of vocal manipulation to accomplish her goal of connecting with the song and the audience. One thing you missed, which wasn't as obvious in this song, is her use of "back phrasing" or conversational cadence to make the song sound more authentic. I really enjoyed your analysis. Great job.

Thanks for this extensive an insightful commentary! Angelina has indeed a very versatile voice and can switch between voice types so easily and also channel a lot of singers. You can hear some typical Adelisms in her performance but also a lot of personal touches and of course her unique rich voice. That zig-zag riff is indeed a delight and then all of the sudden she blasts in her mixed voice. She did some very restraint covers with Heal the world and When you believe: showing you do not always have to blast away and still be very impressive. She also covered MJ's Billy Jean which is jazzy re-interpretation and is star example of making a cover your own. What might be of interest as well, is checking out some original songs with Million Miles and 7th Heaven being the most recent.
