There is so much magic in this young lady, you feel it immediately with her appearance, but when she starts singing, when you start feeling her singing, the magic becomes real, and she is for me just pure joy for my soul. A really, really remarkable young lady. She captured my heart as a wee tot, and she won't let go...or maybe it's me who won't let go. Great reaction Ken. More Angelina, please.
This song was officially released on the 20th September - the date of Angelina's concert at the Alex theatre in Glendale California. Toby accompanied her on piano.
It was her show, so was able to perform bare foot.
This was one of the 21 songs performed by her, with contribution from Jimmy Z on Sax and harmonica with vocals. Scott Haying from Pentatonics sang two of his songs and dueted with Angelina in All of Me ((Toby Gad and John Legend song). It was spectacular - sold out event!

that's correct, the Hotel Café has a health & safety clause, but this wasn't AJ's show anyway, it was Toby's & she only sang 2 songs at his show so I wouldn't hold it against her anyway. 😉✌

@@cp368productions2 It's part of her story and at her own "live" events (this wasn't hers) she generally has some carpet down to stop any injuries. Fans expect the bare feet and she is very committed to it, since she was 6 years old.

Ken, there is a good reason why Angelina is wearing shoes in this video. The Venue is a food serving establishment, and the Law says, everyone inside must wear shoes; so, no shoes, no singing. She chose to sing. 🎤 🎶🎵✌🏻

The reason that Angelina is not wearing shoes in this performance is that the venue may not have permitted bare feet - also there was a lot of clutter on the stage - Also, this was an impromptu performance as Angelina was a surprise guest. Angelina performed barefoot at her recent headline concert at the Alex Theatre in Glendale, CA. (next to LA).

Thanks for your great reaction! This pre-release performance was a few months ago, but the song was officially released within the past week in LA in concert. She is only 18. Toby Gad has written Grammy award-winning songs for such artists as Beyoncé, John Legend, Kelly Clarkson, Fergie, Demi Lovato, and many others. He has taken Angelina under his wing and this is their first original song released together. There are others in the works. No question that this song is created to display all of the best of Angelina's capabilities. Toby co-wrote the song, but Angelina exudes grit and passion that is written on her face, and expressed in her vocals. It is she who brings this masterpiece to life! There is no question that this is an opportunity that Angelina has long anticipated, and is mutually beneficial. This song will surely launch her career to the next level! Peace.
Interesting that you didn't like the dark silhouette shots in the video, I thought they were very atmospheric. I like this song and it was nice to see Angelina performing dressed in casual cloths. I noticed that the lady violinist was included in Angelina's recent concert in L.A.

Angelina was a surprise guest to this event with a two song set at the end of the show if I’m not mistaken! Not her show, when she performs live on stage she doesn’t wear shoes! ❤️❤️❤️❤️👣 Two things. This was Toby's event, not hers, so she just came on stage in her street clothes for the two songs she sang here. Then some say this venue wouldn't allow her to go on stage barefoot. She will be 19 next January 10th. After listening to and teading everything I could find by or about Angelina I have come the conclusion that she is a shy, humble but otherwise normal teenage girl who just happens to have one of the best singing voices and most talent of any currently active singers. I just saw her live in LA last week and was just utterly blown away. Anyone who can make me change from a Led Zeppelin and Rolling Stones fan to listening not only to everything she has done but also Etta James, Amy Winehouse and Nina Simone just has to be a magical individual.

One highlight among many: Her performance of Unchained Melody with a full orchestra, at the Nobel Peace Prize tribute, last Dec 2023. Angelina angels thank Toby Gad for working with her AND for recently educating us on a few things about the music industry. In a recent interview Toby said, "I have a feeling there's a huge change going on as we speak in the music industry. It's profound. I feel the majors are cutting down on their marketing departments and focusing only on established talent and leaving the development of new talent to themselves. Because even if you're assigned to a major record label, the label will ask you, to please post every day on your socials. That's how we promote your record. We'll put it up on Spotify, but you will have to handle the promotion until it goes viral. Once it's viral, we will help you. Kind of thing, which is staggering, because back in the day, you would think, Oh, I signed with a major label. They developed me, and now I'm made and that's 100% gone. Now you sign with a major label and you're one of the hundreds who they wait, okay, once you have a viral moment, then they will start investing in you. It's so strange now."

For those interested in how to get there, we should note she has worked years on her high notes. There are many hours of daily training behind that. There is no magic trick to replicate that, like for sports athletes there is no way to avoid lots of hard work.

She normally does performs barefoot, but sometimes she will run in to a situation where a venue will actually enforce their own rules about wearing shoes and also there was a safety issue due to the wires and equipment on the small stage. Five days ago, she had a sold out concert in L.A. singing at the Alex Theatre and she was performing with no shoes. As for this song, this was officially released on the same day as her concert. Big things are happening for her, such as working with Toby Gad who is on the keyboard, and they have been creating new music.

Born Angelina Jordan Astar on January 10, 2006 in Oslo, Norway to her Norwegian mother, Sara Astar and her Swedish father, Gerry Christian Slattman.
Angelina started singing around 18 months of age, after listening to Whitney Houston on UA-cam. She quickly became obsessed with listening to music videos and her maternal grandmother, Mery Zamani got Angelina interested in classic jazz.
Mery Zamani is Iranian and was a prodigy as an artist and poet while growing up in Iran. Angelina attended the Oslo Waldorf School and participated in the Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program, where starting around age 4, she had training in music but no vocal training. Her teachers were smart enough to not attempt to change what she was doing vocally. More recently she along with her grandmother have designed and made the clothing she wears on stage.
Why Angelina always performs barefoot At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road, asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl who thanks Angelina for giving her the shoes. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” Angelina told the girl to never give up on her dreams. The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true. Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot to remind her of all the children who are less fortunate.
At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East. PLEASE PURCHASE Angelina’s book from her merchandise store on her official website, angelinajordanofficial Angelina, at age 6 and 7, did record a few songs in a recording studio at her school, most notably “I Who Have Nothing”, a truly remarkable performance for a 7 year old. At age 7, Angelina’s audition on Norway’s Got Talent, was a cover of Billie Holiday’s “Gloomy Sunday”, a song which was banned by a number of European countries during World War II because authorities worried the song would increase the suicide rate. Truly bizarre that this is the song to launch the career of a child musical prodigy. One of the judges on NGT cried. Angelina had turned 8 years old for her next performance on NGT, covering Billie Holiday’s “I’m a Fool to Want You” singing acapella which was required by NGT unless the singer also played an instrument while singing. This was the Judge’s cut round of the competition and was not performed in front of an audience. In the Semi Final round of NGT, Angelina sang “Bang Bang” which was written by Sonny Bono and was first performed by his wife Cher but is best known sung by Nancy Sinatra. The improvement in each performance is incredible even though there were only a couple months between them. In the Finals, Angelina did a cover of George Gershwin’s, “Summertime” and won the contest, capturing 46% of the votes from the ten finalists. When asked what she would like to do with the prize money she won (500,000 kroner or about $80,000), Angelina replied, “I want to give it to the poor children”. Angelina had become a star in her native Norway and her videos on UA-cam went viral. She gave a few concerts during the summer of 2014 while 8 years old. In December 2014, Angelina realized a life-long desire to sing at the Save the Children's Peace Prize Celebration which is part of the Noble Peace Prize celebration. The surviving members of Queen loved it so much they put a link to it on their Twitter. Angelina was eliminated after covering Elton John’s “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road”. Angelina’s family refused to sign any agreement with AGT. Angelina, before age 14, had covered more than 130 songs from 80 different artists, spanning at least 8 genres, all of which are available on UA-cam. Angelina has always made changes to each song she covers and often her version is preferred over the original. On May 16, 2024, the first fruits of Angelina's cooperation with Tobi Gad were released. This German composer and record producer based in Los Angeles invited Angeline to an intimate concert at the Hotel Cafe JESSE & FRIENDS, the same one where Adel sang and was discovered. Tobi then took Angelina to London, where she performed His song If I Were A Boy at the London Palladium, and they recorded two versions of the song, Live At Saint James Church, and another studio version illustrated with a film from the streets of London. This was a food establishment, so she was required to wear shoes, she also had shoes on her video to this song as it was on a dirt overlook on Mulholland Drive (broken glass and other things in the dirt). Should follow the rules and be safe. But yes you are right she is known for not wearing shoes. One time when she was young and heading for the stage she stepped on a sticky mouse trap, problems can happen.

I let the 7th Heaven music video slide because I thought it was just a kooky Easter Egg for fans, since she was acting like she was at a rehearsal. Two other unexplained or acknowledged shod appearances are too many for something that's touted as a sacred remembrance. She doesn't have to sing barefoot all the time to be a good singer, but she does have to if she wants to be the Barefoot Princess.
@@capstan50g the vast majority of times Angelina sings barefoot..on a few occasions rules prevent that o4 indeed common sense ie when she’s walking outside etc..Her commitment to performing barefoot is predominantly when performing live on stage..on other occasions venue rules may be prohibitive..on this occasion the event was a Toby Gad event and perhaps she thought it might not be appropriate to perform barefoot given it wasn’t solely her concert. Perhaps the venue rules were prohibitive? Who knows? What I do know is that I trust Angelina to stay true to herself. Indeed, at her recent concert at Glendale, she was barefoot. Trust her. She deserves it.

I still like her singing, although her frequent lapses of enunciation and predilection for destroying the tempo rather than working around it sometimes make me crazy.
