Fabulous! They had only four hours to film this because the facility was rented to another group. It's popular for weddings. Now please do the video that is the polar opposite, emotionally: Way Down. It was Elvis Presley's last song to hit #1. Geoff covers Elvis and legendary bass singer JD Sumner. Be sure to keep watching until the Patreon list scrolls.
The 'joke' when this came out was to post that Kathy just went out for coffee and would be home soon. But I swear Geoff's 'bluesy' voice is just spectacular here. Not really straight blues, but those runs and the emotion in them!!!
This was the first one I saw that convinced me he is a great actor. He was so sad! I always recommend that the closed captions stay on for Geoff's work. First, his captions are more descriptive than standard, the "haunting, pensive, music", "Geoff's humming", "Geoff's harmonizing", etc. His wife Kathy was also a performer who suffers from profound hearing loss. He is very sensitive to the hearing impaired because of that. And sometimes he throws in humor. This was just a great version of this song!
Yes, he does his own arrangements and creates and produces his own backing tracks and does his own filming and editing. The only help he usually has is his wife. Sometimes he will have Eli or Layne help with lighting or set if needed. And their regular makeup artist for the more theatrical pieces 😅
This particular cover by Geoff is different for me. I really don't care for the song itself, but I LOVE what Geoff did with it. I haven't listened to this in a LONG time, but I had to see YOU listen!! Great reaction! You definitely "get" Geoff and his incredible skills. As others have surely mentioned, he does ALMOST everything himself, which is hard to comprehend. If I had to pick my very favorite individual musical artists (not groups or bands) of all time, Geoff would surely be in the top 10.
🎙️🦍🎙️🦍 ... It is really something when the same singer gives you Goosebumps from his low voice .. AND .. from his high voice !! dannnggggggg .... Geoff is wildly talented. This is a top notch cover. I agree about the voice , the great husband , and the great hair ... lol lol lol.. quite amazing 💙
Love Geoff's version. Always amazing how big of a range he has. The one video card at the end was his cover of "House of the Rising Sun", that's very good, he also covered "Big Bad John"
This is a rare video where he had help with filming, since he didn't want a static 'lineup' and I believe Layne from VoicePlay and his partner from PattyCake Productions, Tony Wakim (also a former VoicePlay member) did the steadicam work for him. Otherwise, it's usually just him and his wife, Kathy, doing the filming with static cameras. Eli from VoicePlay has contributed lighting at time, but he for the most part isn't there for the filming part of it, they're using preprogrammed 'cues' to control the lighting changes. If you check out Geoff's version of 'Folsom Prison', he and Kathy went to a former prison to film the video, and the person who was renting the space to them, greeted them and asked 'when the rest of their crew was getting there?" And they laughed and said...this IS the entire crew.
Actually, with Geoff and Voiceplay, you DO want CC on. In a lot of videos they enclose little det ails, info, jokes and such. Kathy's amazing wife Kathy has hearing impairment, and I think that's partially a nod to her and all that she helps to do in their videos. 💙
@@MrsRealistic It's especially important on Earl's last video with the group, "Just Sing." Have you seen anything with Earl yet? I can't recall. He's their former High Tenor. Big bearded blond guy. Amazing voice.💙
Goeff is so creative and his solo videos are really entertaining. I don't know who I like more Geoff or Tim Foust. I looked through your list of covers and realize you have never done a Lucy Thomas song, wow, possibly the best female vocalist on the planet with over 217 Million UA-cam views and you've never listened to her. You're going to feel like you've been living under a rock when you finally hear her.
I guessed Geoff would make a very different version. Sorry, but I didn't dare to watched it. In these huge songs sometimes I feel kind of like if I wasn't being loyal to the original, I don't know how to explain better. Well, at last I dared and I didn't regret it. I liked a lot Geoff's version. I dared because you reacted to it, so thanks for this discovery 😊. See you next time, I hope to be braver 😊👋
Aww! That's so kind of you! I'm glad you enjoyed it...and honestly, I think that Bill would be flattered that so many love his song enough to make their own version of it!
That's An Oldie. I Know I'm Not A Patreon Donator. But That Song Reco I Gave You Is About Just As Old. The Chantel McGregor Daydream. I Hope You Give It A Try. I Think You Will Really Like It !!! By The Way The Warning Played The Whisky Last Night. And There On Kimmel Tonight !! PUH PAU !!!
I love this version of the song! Geoff (and Voiceplay) don't necessarily 'do covers', but they do upgrades! (They won't do a song unless they can bring something different to it, rather than a 'straight' cover!) Yes, he does all his own arrangements (and about half of VP's, with Layne - although this year they are bringing Eli into the rotation to spread the load!), plays all the instrumentation (using keyboard plug-ins for other instruments), does the video editing and initial mixing, with just the final mix being done by Ed Boyer (who also does VP's as well as Home Free, PTX and other acapella groups). For his 'solo' videos, it's usually just him and Kathy, Eli often helps out with programming lighting changes, Layne & Tony help out with sets if needed, though I believe another commenter (@patriciaschumann4205) has mentioned that Layne and Tony did some steadicam work on this one! Loving your reactions, here's to the next one - I second the request for 'Way Down'..! 🥰
So, the big question about this video - is this a 4 Geoff video, or a 5 Geoff video? Is the solo Geoff one of the 4 in the group shot, or a separate Geoff? Inquiring minds want to know!
We all know Geoff's range is insane, but when he covers all of it in a single breath, it's too much. I'm calling for an alien investigation.
I'm with you! He's not HUMAN!!
Fabulous!

Wow, I'll have to look her up!! Thanks!
Peter Hollens has done quite a few shorts on how a single singer multi part song is built on a loop.
This is an amazing cover. Love it❤

If up any "jinjer" we will watch (nightwish fan)
Which song? When I searched Jinjer reactions, I see a lot of reactors who did "Pisces".
