Beer is looking mighty fine! Can't help to be a bit envy when seeing that pool of urs, i live in a cold climate. Feel free to be "lazy", i'll still keep on watching ur content! Cheers
Absolutely awesome beer and video Brian, Vienna lagers are delicious! It is great to see you back, and I completely understand the grind. Excellent MBC!!
I have brewed one batch of Vienna lager and prob dumped 5 different malts into that train wreck (I was a very new brewer). Since then I have stuck to brewing smash beers and I think my next batch will revisit the Vienna lager as a smash. All the best cheers 🍻
I feel like I learn more about grains and hops with smash beers and I’m always pleasantly surprised by just how good they taste. Sometimes less is more, cheers 🍻
I'm new to brewing and I have a question. Most the 5 gallon batches I see use somewhere around 6 gallons of water. Why do you say 8.75 gallons?! Oh and I see most of the other brewing channels I watch represented in your comments, you must be doing something good! ;-) MBC?
So I use brew in a bag which uses a full volume boil. So I add all my water at the start of my brew day. Since it’s all grain there is some water absorbed during the mash by the grains. The larger the grain bill the more water is absorbed. So I may start with 8.75 gallons of water but after my mash I’ll only have 7.75 gallons of wort in there. Then during the boil I typically lose about 1.25gallons of wort per hour. So after a 60 minute boil I’d be let with 6.5 gallons of wort. And then in my kettle I typically lose about half a gallon of wort at the bottom due to kettle trub. So I would only end up transferring 6 gallons to the fermenter. I usually like to aim for 5.5 to 6 gallons into my fermenter because I lose about a half gallon in the fermenter due to trub from the yeast and hops and such. That way I end up with a full 5 gallons of the clearest beer possible. Hope this answers your question! Let me know if you’ve got more, happy to help!! Cheers 🍻
MBC APPROVED! I don't have a family or a job and it's still tough to keep up with schedule! Great video braj! And that beer looks great!
Thanks CH!!! Those Amber/Dark lagers are legit, cheers 🍻

I just brewed this very same exact beer, inclusive of the choc malt and w34/70. It's fermenting as we speak. Can't wait.
these simple recipes with more malt presence are often over looked -magnificent work & and nice, clean finish on the pint !!!
Oh I love Vienna malt and Hallertauer Mittelfrueh hops best combo ever
It is a great combo, I've usually got those 2 ingredients on hand at all times.
Great video, great brew! Simple means better.
Awesome Video that's one of my favorite styles🍻
Thanks Portly!!!
Great looking beer that. Cheers. 🍻
Great video. Vienna lager is my favourite beer. Have made a few of those, never tried such a simple recipe though, but why not.
Thanks! At some point I'd like to try an all Vienna Malt version but with a decoction mash, not sure a decoction classifies as simple though :)

MBC's in a video can be risky..... If you don't get it in one take, each subsequent take will be more and more difficult.
Great video!
Very true! Glad I did this in 1 take!!!

@@ElementaryBrewingCo what an excellent explanation! Thank you for taking the time to answer me.
Dislike for fahrenheit without celsius
1:20 roast character in a Vienna lager, what are you on about? Absolutely a mistake.
Who cares how long it takes just take your time.
