Germany took over the concept, it's called 'Sing my song' and is presented by Michael Patrick Kelly (former Kelly Family), who does a fantastic job. They managed to keep the intimate atmosphere, there's just a lot more hugging going on (and booze on the table :P).

Dit vind ik geweldig. In 1996 stonden Alain Clark en ik als kandidaat in de finale van het Haarlems zangfestival. Alain destijds een jochie van 17 stond daar met zijn zus capella een versie van That is who we do it. Om de reden dat hij geen orkestband had van dit nummer. Ik won de eerste prijs. En als dan zie en hoor hoe deze rasmuzikant uitgegroeid is tot een waar idool en goede studiomuzikant . Dan denk ik...je hebt het verdient. Super Alain...het is je gegund.
Blij dat je het hem gunt. Goede dingen zullen je tegemoet komen als je je een goed hart hebt. Klinkt cheesy, maar naar mijn ervaring is het waar.

I completely agree with you. The poor boy tried his best, but alas, he cannot compare. For his own genre of music he is probably not too bad, but when placed next to a voice such as Maria, he falls flat on his face. Heck, he compares poorly to Davina Michelle, who is rumoured to have no formal voice training (self-taught), whom I believe would have done a much better job at this than Alain - just listen to her two duets in this same series.
Maria was the face of professionalism, Alain Clark left me cold and not in the good way. He might be a 'veteran' but I was not impressed. Reading lyrics, heavy reliance on autocue, he looked like a rookie at his first rodeo. Listening to him sing this was pure torture while Maria gave me proper kippenvel. I pity Alain for I think he knew in his heart that he couldn't compare.

Volgens mij allebeide erg mooi. Ik ga ook geen appels met peren vergelijken en vind ze allebeide erg lekker. Gewoon genieten.
Ik heb nooit zo'n hoge pet op gehad van Alain Clark, maar wordt hij hier even van het podium afgezongen of wat!
Ek was glad nie beindruk met sy sang hier nie. Sy stem is uit plek, sy houding pas nie by die liedjie nie. Maria is die toonbeeld van professionaliteit maar hy kom oor as onervare. Ek kry die arme man bitter jammer want daar is nou bewys hoe ver hy werklik van enige sang-troon af is.

I discovered Beste Zangers some time ago thanks to Floor and have been going back in each season, listening and discovering amazing Dutch singers. The Netherlands has such talent, it has to be something in the water there!
I wasn't impressed with Alain from the first note he sang and from there it was a downhill slide for me concerning him. I guess it comes from growing up on Country Music, Afrikaanse popmusiek (that has amazing voices) and appreciation of great voices... Which Alain certainly isn't.
@@sharleencronje8132 Well thank you in behalf of my country for the compliments. BTW, I drink a lot of water, and you don't wanna hear me sing hahaha. Floor is amazing, and her Duet with Henk was incredible. Henk was the Dutch Phantom about 30 years ago btw. And true thing, I think Alain isn't a great artist. He does well, but well isn't really good. Like Maria, or Floor, and Henk.
@@KeesKouwenberg I discovered Dutch music a few years ago thanks to Belinda Kinnear who translated my friend Rudi Claase's song Sewe Oseane (Zewen Oceanen) sung by Andriette Norman into Dutch and had a hit with it. From there I dug a bit but Beste Zangers has really opened my eyes.
Go check out Andriette as well as Demi Lee Moore, two of our best singers and I can promise you that you will be amazed. I fell in love with Samantha Steenwijk as well as Emma Heesters thanks to BZ 2019 and discovered many other great Dutch voices.
As to the whole water drinking thing... I also gorge on water and I sound like a screeching cat in heat. Some nights I dream I can sing like Floor or Maria Fiselier and even Davina Michelle, but I think the music muse is allergic to me.
Alain is een hele goede zanger maar komt niet uit de verf met de duetten omdat hij veel te veel zijn tekst moet aflezen. Hij kan daardoor geen aandacht geven aan de ander om samen een geheel te vormen, jammer hoor.
Waarom moet er altijd gejankt worden bij de Beste Zangers? 🤔
Maar ik vind Maria wel erg goed! 😃👌
Omdat muziek de spiegel is vande ziel watvis er lis met emotie en gevoel dat is teken van stermkte geen zwakte en gevoel
Elke week worden er liedjes van iemands lijst gezongen bijv die van Alain Clark.. and je raakt emotioneel over nummers waar jij gepassioneerd naar bent.

Jammer dat Alain de tekst was vergeten
Vind Alain in het begin soms té ‘laid back’ waardoor het klinkt alsof hij steeds te laat inzet.
Ik vind zijn klank sowieso niet zo mooi. Mr probz heeft pas een mooie lage stem.

@@timbelsi2 nee irriteer me mateloos aan dat autocue verhaal dit seizoen alain vergat zelfs een stukkie de tekst.... Amateuristisch gewoon
Ze hebben niet heel lang de tijd om de tekst in te studeren, dus ik vind het eerder logisch dat ze regelmatig naar de cue kijken.
