The Greening Israel documentary recently won “silver” in two different categories in the highly acclaimed Telly Awards.
We’re super excited to launch the brand-new website, www.GreeningIsrael.com, where you can get involved in our tree planting project. Our goal is to plant 5,000 trees as soon as the Shemitah (sabbatical year) finishes in September 2022, and we’re planning to plant 20,000 trees in Judea and Samaria every year after that.
To get the saplings started in green houses in preparation to be planted in October after the Shemitah finishes, we need your help. Your investment in one, two, or even ten trees is literally an investment in the restoration of God’s Kingdom, happening today in the heartland of Israel.

The JNF (known as KKL in Israel) has successfully planted many forests around Israel, including in the rocky, barren hills around Jerusalem. These guys should collaborate with them, they know what they're doing.
We are in the mist of collaborating with JNF (KKL). Right now, they're not really planting in Judea and Samaria, which is our focus, but we have been in close contact with JNF, and are hoping to collaborate more closely with them to plant trees in the heartland in the future.

I would plant Ceratonia siliqua (from Fabaceae family) because it's a very leafy tree, it's a xerophyte species, provides very nutritional food and it's native from eastern mediterranean.
The point is to replicate exactly the forests as God created there eons ago, not what we want there

Building passive water harvesting features like The Vetiver System, swales or zai pits on contour would make a difference in the amount of water held in the entire landscape and will definitely help the trees grow.

Dont give up guys and that ash is good for growing things. I once put a loganberry into woodash only thinking it might die and it grew everywhere. Plants help to irrigate the soil so plant loganberries etc.

direct seeding and using the rocks as mulch would simplify the project. Australia is using drones to drop seed in difficult terrain.The seed is infused in a medium with fertilizer.

I'm 100% beyond your decision to planting trees 🌳, but as there's other community there as well , you should include all the community in this project at list informing and have a dialogue about it, as you know if you impose your desitions to others they well be against even if don't make any sense. You have a great vision to make thrive that area so depleted . Learn to share your vision to other local communities and you will save , money, time, stress and probably have a better outcome, sure will take longer but you need to have a positive connection to others local community too , as you know you can make them thrive too and that will make your community stronger, truly create a miracle!

I live in Australia and as wonderful and good this dream of reforesting is I know that when there is a project going in Australia getting in touch with the local indigenous people makes that project ten times better. These people in the village see this as their land and need to be consulted and brought into the project. I don’t know why they haven’t done this.

After viewing Alan Savory's TED talk many years ago- I have gone down a "worm hole" of plant life.
Living in Phoenix , Az - I have become aware of the many Native plants, and how they survive in this harsh climate of limited annual rainfall and moisture in the air.
The Saguaro Cactus can not survive in new growth without an existing plant very close to aid in its early years; both to provide shade and help to break up the soil for it's root growth and share moisture during the Hot months.
Planting the young trees very close to existing thriving native plants will help the trees grow with few inputs aside from the needed water!

I'm an atheist, so I didn't like all the Christian and Jewish thing, but that's ok, it's from the organisation and they're in their own right to talk bout it and so on. But what I must say is that is was marvelous! Seriously, congratulations. What Israel is doing in different fronts when it comes to greening barren lands is excellent. I didn't know (nor expected) Palestinians to destroy newly planted forests. That was certainly a shock. I hope everyone, regardless of religion beliefs (or lack of it, like in my case), can get together and plant trees and coexist in peace. And in the case of Israel, it would be awesome if Israelis and Palestinians could finally get along and help each other.

It's absolutely wonderful to see the project treeing this area and was inspired to see the people working so hard to get this project to be successful. I was sadned though that there wasn't an attempt to communicate directly with the palestinians. Sure it might have taken some time and effort, but that would have been quite healing. The palestinians understandibly are threatened by people coming and planting things.

I seen the creators response to this, he said they tried to communicate and he said they were not interested. I a situation that only native people see and can fix. It's not looking good. We as Americans can't fight their battle. Who's side do we choose? Many are conflicted here. It's a war that has gone on for many years and the truth, meaning seeing eye to eye is already lost. They hate each other behond our comprehension. It's a completely different culture, upbringing, belief system, and humanity. This method was done in the times of King Solomon. they would plant olive trees in the desert and surround the trees with a stone fence which had small holes and the stones would hold the condensation and water the trees.

My Israeli mother-in law was part of a group of pioneers who planted trees for Keren Ha Kayemet the organization which took on the responsibility of greening Israel almost 100 years ago.
Many such groups worked all over Israel to rebuild what had been destroyed over the centuries.

As a child I remember that for any for any occasion anniversary's birthdays marriages even deaths etc trees were planted in their names you know after my family was long gone and I went through a lot of their papers that were left I found dozens and dozens of certificates and I have no idea I don't remember what organization did it but it was probably one of the ones you mentioned. Not only does Israel start off the the century with more trees than it started every year it's the only country that has more trees at the end of the year than at the beginning. You know with the Arabs flying in incendiary devices on balloons and etc simply to destroy farms and the forests it doesn't matter how good something is that Israeli Jews have put in place if it was touched by a Jew with tainted and is trashed at any available time they can. I remember when they gave Gaza back and they had millions of dollars if I'm not mistaken in state of the art greenhouses that they left for the Arabs that could have Fed so many of them and what did they do the first thing they did was they smashed it to pieces yep that's the culture that the Israelis are set against or the culture that said against Israelis they're indoctrinated from little kids watching little kid cartoons that show things like Mickey mouse with a an explosive terrorist vest so you know you have generations now of populations that know nothing but to kill choose to wipe them off and to take back Israel take it back whatever you want to call it. They do some fabulous Videos on a wide variety of issues and if you have an interest in anything Israel they could be guys to check out.
One of the most eye opening ones was about the so called Housing Crisis in the West Bank...includes a tour through a new Arab city built near Ramallah...an eye opener.
