Holy shit Kraven is legitimately terrifying. I mean its great to have villains you can sympathize with like Otto, but its so refreshing to have a genuinely psychopathic murderer for a villain
I will say this, respect to Insomniac for doing Kraven the Hunter justice in this game. Usually he was always one of Spidey’s lesser known and less talked about villains, but they made him a freakin’ badass here. Glad to see his character getting the proper respect, he was always one of my favorites of Spider-Man’s rogues.

Kraven's last hunt is usually referred too as one of the best Spider-man stories.
I wouldn't call him lesser known. He's been in all of the cartoons, Shattered Dimensions, Amazing Spider-Man 2's video game, etc. He's gotten a fair bit of exposure over the years.

This is the coolest portrayal of Kraven I’ve ever seen. He is one of the reasons why I feel this game is considerably darker than the two predecessors.
They gave Kraven so much justice in this game. He’s such a badass in the comics and they made him a badass in the game! And if you don’t understand this scene and how Kraven lives after getting stabbed, a little bit before this you go into a lab with Scorpion’s venom being studied and vials of cures against it.

I thought he was just giving him a dose of poison like he did Peter in the first game. Kraven canonically takes special herbs that gives him superhuman abilities so the thought of k¡lling him never crossed my mind.

Friendly reminder that Kraven treated both Scorpion and Electro like jokes, but respected the hell out of Shocker. Implying even that , out of the original Sinister Six, he came the closest to actually killing him.
Which is very strange considering that Electro is up there with Venom and Sandman as one of Spidey's strongest enemies while Shocker is one of the weakest ones
Shocker's gauntlets are pretty devastating when you don't have a magic power that tells you when to dodge. Guy one-shotted Sandman once.

@@JThePervertedSummoner He respected Shocker’s fighting spirit. Even though he was panicked and outmatched, he still fought tooth and nail, never backing down right up until his last breath. Electro, on the other hand, was little more than a common thug who didn’t take his fight seriously, which to Kraven, is the biggest disrespect one can give in battle.
Kraven is definetely Powerful but Agent Venom was beating him up which speaks a lot for him because Even spidey with the symbiote had a lot Problems against kraven and remember spidey could in Part 1 defeat scorpion and rhino Thats why was kraven a lot stronger then scorpion to the Point where scorpion was scared of him
It was clever to have them use Scorpion in this manner, to show how powerful this Kraven is. Usually Scorpion physically rivals Spider-Man so having Kraven kill him with 0 difficulty really puts into perspective how dangerous this version is
Tbf, Kraven uses a potion that temporarily boosts his strength to rival Spider-Man.
But the reveal that this Kraven was dying of cancer makes him even more dangerous. A man with nothing to lose really makes for a dangerous opponent
But it really comes at Scorpions expense. They made him look like trash

It’s not that there’s even tiers to these villains. Kraven got to study them and have prep time. That’s why he didn’t even feel Scorpion’s sting because he already created an antidote for his poison.

Now this was the moment where I realized shit was getting real in this game
Choosing Scorpion to be killed onscreen was a wise choice. Mac is a physical threat to Spider-Man and has a similar powerset. But most importantly, NOBODY is going to mourn Scorpion's death.
This version of Scorpion is a slimy sadistic asshole and even the other villains seem to hate him.
I liked this scorpion, honestly. Best design, pretty big threat (to the spidermen being able to outsmart both of them), and his and rhinos boss is one of my favorite boss fights in the series.
Why did they make Kraven so damn OP in this game???? Scorpion has super strength even greater than Spider-Mans, that super strong armor, plus that poisonous tail
And Kraven just breaks the stinger off barehanded, manhandles Scorpion with ONE ARM, and kills him like he’s just a regular guy?? Idk man
Scorpion is nowhere near Peter in strength. Peter holds back a lot against Scorpion. In the Superior Spider-Man Otto switched bodies with Peter. He fights Scorpion and punched Scorpion’s jaw clean off making Otto realize Peter had held back all those years. Scorpion is fodder to Peter if he really wanted it
@@purevessel4506 Fair enough @ your point bout Pete always holdin back. Although I do have to inform that in Scorpions first appearance, the whole big deal as to why he was such a threat was cause he was physically stronger and had an extra limb (tail) that was equally strong
But I often forget characters have different iterations throughout the years with different authors settin different limits, as well as forgettin that Pete was also still a weaker high schooler back then and not yet a fully matured, strong man
It's explained that Kraven uses potions to make him way stronger than a human being possibly can be.

-He cannot live without the suit or he will die.
-He lost his P.I skills from insanity, other skills he has are substandard compared to the street level characters. He doesn’t even have mechanical skills and is very weak to psychics.
-Got his jaw punched by Ock-Spidey and can’t eat or speak properly.
-His spine was snapped by Carnage and can’t walk without the suit.
-Even with the Venom symbiote he’s still very weak.

Yeah, without a doubt Scorpion is their weakest and therefor would obviously be easy prey for Kraven to hunt much in the same way like Vulture, Shocker and Electro, which explains their adaptive hunting technology.
Huh? Scorpion is a very strong villain. He could've killed both spidermen, but he chose not to. He has superior strength, speed, and agility too. He's also my 3rd favorite spiderman villain 😢

Why? Scorpion is barely relevant barely above a thug and that’s only because of his suit. Without it he’s nothing. Kraven is one of Spidey’s greatest villains. Establishing him as a major threat is way better than keeping Scorpion around

Tbh Scorpion had it coming, out of all sinister six who had their reasons that are justified scorpion is the only member whos motive in joining the gang are money and greed, torturing peter for fun and trying to murder miles once he release him. Also Insomniac did a great job in writing kraven hunting the villians and heroes no matter who they are as long as they are stronger, making him living up to his name, the hunter
This is hands down the most skilled and intelligent version of Kraven The Hunter. Idk if there are any crazy or absurdly powerful versions of him in the comics, but cinematically this guy is barely even human anymore. Ik in Spectacular Spider-Man he had got the radioactive spider-serum and turned into a mutated lion, but I HIGHLY doubt he would have the skill or intellect to take down even a quarter of the Sinister Six in that universe. Whereas Kraven just one tapped half of these guys in the Insomniac franchise. Which is the most powerful cityleveled iteration of these characters
They really did a good job with building up Kraven. You were barely able to handle the S6 in the first game and here you have Kraven fighting them 1v1 directly and killing them like ants. If you look at the files, Kraven also said that Vulture and Electro were weak as well.
best part about spiderman 2 is how many villains go at it with each other 🤣🤣

Kraven has a long history of using potions and chemicals to boost his physical ability that’s probably why.
He had this flower in his lab and the effects of it negates Scorpions poison Peter said himself he was trying to obtain it but it wasn't found in New York

One thing i don't quite get about Kraven immunizing himself to Scorpion's venom for his hunt.
As far as i'm aware. Kraven is trying to find a thrilling hunt and fight. Wouldn't the risk of getting nicked with scorpion's venom and tripping out add to the thrill of it? Therefore making the hunt more thrilling.
Immunizing yourself to one of your quarry's most used weapons seems counterproductive when the point is to have risk for reward.

Agreed as a fan it's one of the things I don't like about the comics.
As much as I enjoy these characters death never being permanent just really lowers the stakes and cheapens everything.
