This is a really underappreciated NES game! Its so smooth and fastm with little to no slowdowns and has so much to offer. The way the human bosses backflip and try to avoid your attacks is awesome. This is the quality that NES games could be, if everyone was at their a-game, but on this regard, kabuki quantum fighter is pretty lonely.
The only game i can think of where headbanging is a weapon, AND you access a sound test when you beat it. I used to own this. Very fun game, plays a lot like Batman.
Wow... what memories! I was less than ten years old when I played this game and I remembered it longer, with better graphics and, above all, much more complex and difficult hehe. Very emotional. Thank you.
Gosh, I had forgotten this awesome game. One of the best nes games for me. Great graphics, great gameplay and just the right difficulty so it's not too hard but also not too easy. Thank you for uploading it :D !
Just started playing this and it's awesome! Love the music, the graphics, the gameplay, it's difficult for me, I'm not great at video games but I'm determined to finish it! Your playthrough is great! Thanks
I remember seeing the ad for this on the back of an old jughead or archie comic digest my grandmother gave me, this was well after it came out and I already had a Sega Genesis but I remember being intrigued by the interesting cover art, just now stumbled across this video, this looks like quite the gem on the NES
Yeah, this game creeped my shit pretty bad when I was little... the look, the bosses, the music... and f**king hell was it ever difficult. Soooo many deaths.
For the longest time I could never remember what this game was called; all I knew was that I saw it being played in a Funcoland and involves a hair lashing attack...
Don't forget to even out your chips and energy during boss fights. You'll acquire bonus material that way that you might not otherwise get if you're maxed out on chips or life.
This was an awesome game! Surround sound system, thundering bass, mid-range bass, lower bass, and subwoofer low! Actually surround sound didn't activate so I had simulated surround, club, hall, and so on.
1:50 That is MOS 6502 assembly code, which is also what the NES is based on. Though I have no idea what EQU * is supposed to mean, because there is no such instruction in the NES CPU.

Haha, yeah I just realised it watching this video after expanding my knowledge on NES hardware and software.
"Hal America"? Those are the guys who made Kirby and developed Super Smash Bros. Not sure if it was the American branch that made it but none-the-less this is a good game. Really like the music.
Chris and I, have 100's of Nintendo games. It would be a honor to have a gaming compagnion. Like playing a board game !! NO money asked !!! All for FREE !!! The fun is enough rewarding for me !!!! Shame, to keep that NINTENDO never be used, in a CLOSET !!!
Underrated gem!! I did beat this on a rental and it was neat! Great music too! After watching this video again I remember now how OP that dynamite was and how much I used it Vs bosses!
Who would love to see a Kabuki Quantum Fighter: Resurrection? Or: Rebooted? Or: Reloaded? Or...you get the idea. 😆 Dude literally said he would be back.
I think this a game in need of an update. Give it a graphical boost and bring the music into today's standards while keeping it more or less the same. Like how they did for Ducktales.
With all the characters in Smash Bros now, why the hell isn't this one? It's from Hal, the people who make Smash Bros. They put in obscure Hal characters since the beginning. This guy is way cooler.
this one is kind of their bastard child... to be honest I think the people in hal and... nintendo more likely has abandoned him like shit.. sadly.. cause if not.. I believe there are would be mores games and becoming series ,4-5 titles or maybe more maybe story of his grandfather , his evil twin.. and his comander the general support and order him to destroy ancient alient race.. etc.. and for sure.. he could make it to the super smash bros series which he has 2 form.. a military officer and a kabuki fighter.. that would be cool there is another character that deserved to be inlcude in super smash bros.. even though it is "from" sony the crash bandicoot..
this is a awesome game ^^ it's one of my favs ^^ i wish they would make a update on it and have it for a download or something i would love to see what is would look like today standards
I’m surprised this isn’t a $100+ title seeing how almost every decent game on the NES nowadays is insanely priced (excluding Mario and a couple Mega Man titles along with Castlevania 1 and Ninja Gaiden 1 maybe), just got a copy from my local game store for $25, excited to play it!
The soundtrack sounds like it would be the same person that did the shovel knight soundtrack, or at least this soundtrack influenced shovel knights soundtrack.
I remember seeing this on Nick Arcade back in the day and the contestant doing quite poorly on whatever the challenge was, probably score related. Watching this now, and looking at the absurd explanation given for the character's appearance is amusing. I'm kind of surprised HAL didn't simply alter the design given how the game was already culled of its movie tie-in content. Perhaps it was to give the product more appeal as there certainly was already an established whip-slinging character at this point.
I just found a cool secret on this game that I have to share. Pause the game then press up or down to covert life into chips or vise versa. This is a game changer for me because running out of chips on the final boss can be a disaster.
I always find these titles that look 100% Japanese to be interesting. Getsu Fuma Den, and KickMaster are also really good games. I have Samurai Ghost for the PC-ENGINE another game that fits this description. Too many of these games never leave Japan, get westernized into another game, or go completely unnoticed.
no it was only published by hal america. loved this game when i was around 7 years old and my brother and i borrowed it several times from a friend. (together with uforia one of the most epic games for the nes imho and the first big japanese influence on me) we always played till level 5 to hear the great music :D but level 2 is great too
Playing this game right now, on stage 3 and getting brutalized by one particular jump... Excellent game though, just the right level of difficulty. Picked it up dirt cheap, too.
i played this game as a kid and i remember it to be hard i was never able to beat it the only game i was able to beat as kid was guerrilla war for the nes
For the 8 bit era, The story, visuals, audio, gameplay and overall design is imaginative and magnificent.
For "All" eras 10/10

I used to love this game I spent hours listening to the soundtrack I even recorded it on tape to Jam it on my Walkman (yes I know I've shown my age)
I made the same with ninja gaiden and MegaMan
We recorded lots of tapes with our playing sessions of supermariobros 1,2,3 , these were the days.
Walkman... still have mine and numerous tapes I used to record myself back in the day. Ahhh.. the nostalgia :)
Ah same here:D
One of the best NES games, so underrated...
From the creaters of Kirby and Smash Brothers.
And Bucky O'hare.
My favourite NES game. Never seen the show.
@@MrOrthopedia wao
@@MAL-Collector It should be here or On google
@@piedramultiaristas8573 hehe I don't feel like watching it. But thanks.
Random thought today: Hey, remember Kabuki Quantum Fighter?
UA-cam.
Video.
Nostalgia.

Great gameplay, story, music, cyberpunk atmosphere. Highest quality nes arcade, top10 for me.
The only game i can think of where headbanging is a weapon, AND you access a sound test when you beat it. I used to own this. Very fun game, plays a lot like Batman.
Bonk games are definitely headbanging. Even to a higher level.
Wow... what memories! I was less than ten years old when I played this game and I remembered it longer, with better graphics and, above all, much more complex and difficult hehe.
Very emotional. Thank you.
Such an underated game!
I loved it back in the day

this game has a good soundtrack for an 8-bit game
Uhh some of the best soundtracks ever are on an eight bit game...
Gosh this game brings back some memories! I could never get past level two lol. Thanks for sharing
Yeah, this game creeped my shit pretty bad when I was little... the look, the bosses, the music... and f**king hell was it ever difficult. Soooo many deaths.
this game always reminds me of batman for the Nes, they seem very similar, even the enemies
For the longest time I could never remember what this game was called; all I knew was that I saw it being played in a Funcoland and involves a hair lashing attack...

This game has a very good Soundtrack 👍
Wow this game takes me back years, lol great game and awesome play-through!!!
OMG I totally forgot on this great game. I never ended it.
Nothing like going through levels while headbanging.
There never was a next adventure. Although this is a NES hidden gem game.
This was an awesome game! Surround sound system, thundering bass, mid-range bass, lower bass, and subwoofer low! Actually surround sound didn't activate so I had simulated surround, club, hall, and so on.
This game rocks!!! Played it so much.
The game looks like it was one of inspirations for Axiom Verge, right?
OMG I LOVE THAT SOUND EFFECT !!! SCHWYPPPPPP !!!!!!!!
too bad they never made anymore of this
cliche sequel bate
The nostalgia, so many hours spent with this awesome game :)
the music of the 2nd stage is mindblowing!!!!

I remember saving money to buy this game. Damn times was so much easier in the 90s
1st BN 4th Mar 0311 the 90's was the last decade of freedom my friend good times
Karl Miller yes sir
A variation of the ninja gaiden game.
Best soundtrack on nes hands down
Exactly, especially when you have surround sound system and thundering bass.
great game
I just started watching and I already love it! 😀
Fucking amazing game !! I love this old RETRO so much !!!
THIS is one of my FAV games !!!

this IS one hte the best platformers for the nes music and gameplay AND story wise.
I got this game at the low price bin in the early 90s, one of the best games I have played on the NES and I collected over 500 of em.
1:52 Bursted laughing when I saw this. This is NES code!
My favorite game when I was a kid
This is essentially Batman - the video game. Which is why I love it!
Who would love to see a Kabuki Quantum Fighter: Resurrection?

Or: Reloaded?
Or...you get the idea. 😆
Dude literally said he would be back.
Love the player headbanging to the music after he killed the boss lol
To bad it was released late during the end of the NES lifespan cause I would have like to see a sequel or a 16/32 bit port
that game was soo beautiful :)
Never come across this game. The Bass Music on level 1 is crazy, (when you have headphones on)
I think this a game in need of an update. Give it a graphical boost and bring the music into today's standards while keeping it more or less the same.
Like how they did for Ducktales.
sadly the developers are long gone. (Human declared bankruptcy in 2000)
I believe HAL the devs of Kirby and Smash bros made this game.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HAL_Laboratory
@@Nativesurvival No, I think it was just published by HAL. This game has all the traits of a HUMAN game.
XelchanTheBrave Indeed, the first frames of this vid the text states its a human game; good call.
"Graphical boost" usually means making the original game look much worse.
Reminds me of Shantae everytime he attacks with his hair 😁

This game was only published by Hal, it was developed by Human Entertainment, the same company behind the Clock Tower and Fire Pro Wrestling games.
Easy, that's because this game was actually developed by Human Entertainment, Hal only published it.
this is a awesome game ^^ it's one of my favs ^^
i wish they would make a update on it and have it for a download or something
i would love to see what is would look like today standards
Awesome! I have to get this. Reminds me of a cross between Megaman and Vice: Project Doom
After 20 years i see this game in 2018
I finally found it🔥🔥🔥🔥This game had a hold on me as a youngster, so many rages😂
This game at the beginning I felt it like a something between Batman and Ninja Gaiden. But really its bright with own colors.
At last I've found this game! :)
Wow, it's like watching a reskin of Batman för the NES. The makers of this game must've really liked it.
Wtf? Dude attacks with his hair!!!
This game is made to the head bangers :-P you have to head bang while you play this game.
I used to headbang when I had hair, now I merely thrash around :p
Max Warren
Just like Shantae!
Kabuki ftw
i had this game as a kid and enjoyed it
I loved this game
I love how you attack with your hair, the Japanese are awesome!!
this game. i love this game fuck.
This sprite animation is incredible
Old school great game
i remember this game so hard
Reminds me a lot of Vice project of doom, prefer vice over this, but still a very solid game though!!
Ubisoft has some explaining to do :O lol
I wonder if Shantae was heavily inspired by this game?
I love that game as a kid
I loved this game as a kid. Made it far but never beat the game
I remember that this game once appeared on Nick Arcade, and I think that that was the first time I ever heard the words "kabuki" and "quantum."
The soundtrack sounds like it would be the same person that did the shovel knight soundtrack, or at least this soundtrack influenced shovel knights soundtrack.

This game was weird. And I finished when I was a kid.
I loved this game! I suck at it now though...
nice game
the first game i ever cracked as a kid
I just found a cool secret on this game that I have to share. Pause the game then press up or down to covert life into chips or vise versa. This is a game changer for me because running out of chips on the final boss can be a disaster.
Oh just found out the code only works on bosses which good 'cause that's the only time you'll probably need it.
this opening was frightening me when i was 7 years old :D
Its the same layout as Batman.
oh my child hood memories :_)
Real NES ASM code at 1:56
I kinda wonder what was that EQU* meant for since there is no such instruction in the 6502 language.
Plot twist: he never came back for another adventure :(
I thought Shantae was the first video game character attack using hair, and I was just bloody wrong
Ryu Hayabusa: Who are you???
Kabuki Quantum Fighter: i'm you, but *metal* 🤘
no it was only published by hal america.
loved this game when i was around 7 years old and my brother and i borrowed it several times from a friend. (together with uforia one of the most epic games for the nes imho and the first big japanese influence on me)
we always played till level 5 to hear the great music :D but level 2 is great too
One of those NES titles I still play. Classic. I wish they included Scott in Brawl, he would have fit well.
The music reminds me of the C64
I remember renting this gaming thinking it was gonna be shit, but it was really awesome
This game is unique: the boss of second level is harder than bosses of other higher levels
This game should have beeen called Headbangers Ball - The Video Game. You win by headbanging.
the final boss seems to be one of the easiest when you know how.
Playing this game right now, on stage 3 and getting brutalized by one particular jump... Excellent game though, just the right level of difficulty. Picked it up dirt cheap, too.
25 лет прошло , а я до сих пор помню музыку из игры этой.
i played this game as a kid and i remember it to be hard i was never able to beat it the only game i was able to beat as kid was guerrilla war for the nes
This game is quite funny using hair as a weapon! It looks like metal guys shakin da head :P haha
Reminds me of Batman: the video-game.
