the moment capaldi was announced, a lot (especially the girls) were disgusted. "why is the doctor so old". Moffat clarified "he's not old. he's old-looking". many would have to wait a whole year for him to start earning their adoration. but as it so happens, there was a new show called "the musketeers" premiering in january. in the trailers, i thought. that bloke playing the cardinal looks like capaldi. at the time i only knew capaldi from the one episode of "peepshow", and he looked significantly different back then. it was 2010 i think when the episode aired. so cold opening of the first episode of "musketeers" airs, and already whoever this actor playing the cardinal was, his acting was brilliant and on point. and then the opening theme rolls in. and who was this capaldi-looking bloke playing the cardinal so well? why, it's peter capaldi of course. and it was at that moment he won over my confidence. still a whole 9 months to go before his first episode, and he was already so great. And after seeing his run all the way through, he is to this day, after the best and worst of his times, my most favorite doctor. humbly, i could never say he was the doctor i deserved....but he was the doctor that i needed.
My daughter loved watching season 1 of this - she was watching the dvd titles over and over. I asked her why and she said, "I could watch Peter Capaldi spin around in that cloak AAAALLL DAY!" I must say I had to agree.
8 years later, and I stumbled into this comment section to make exactly that comment... XD I love it when true nerds with that absolutely dorky joy (that maniacal-glint-in-eye-and-giggly kind, that can only be mustered when that inner child is given the reins) get to make stuff like this, because it can really be felt in the passion they put into their work! (This was also why I didn't really mind Peter Capaldi's Doctor. The show had issues, but Peter Capaldi wasn't one of them, by a long shot. Dude loves the Doctor too much to not give it all the best he's got. 😄)
@@musicfan189 this outfit was the first I made for a custom made Asian Ball-jointed Doll of which the head is sculpted as Peter and painted as cardinal Richelieu. Good thing the cloak was sized for a 60 cm doll rather than a tall human adult. 😉 I've had his black/red clerical robe commissioned by a seamstress who makes clothes for this type of doll and it turned out quite wonderful. I can't make an outfit with that much detail.
It seems to be an unwritten rule, if you are wearing a cloak, you have to try the "flourish-and-over-the-shoulder" move. PC actually manages to carry it out without looking like a pantomime villain!
Oh my god, I love him so much. He, as Richelieu is fantastic. I can't even... I need a moment. Ufffff. And I haven't even thought about how he will be as The Doctor. This is too much for me.
What I liked most about Richelieu in the book was that he didn't strike me as a bad person, more as a very clever and cunning politian. I'm dying to see Capaldi playing this character, even moreso because the Cardinal was actually one of my favourite people in The Three Musketeers)
This guy is the Villain of villains like all the other villains see him as a role model on how you must to dress yourself if you ought to become a powerful antagonist, how to walk, talk etc
Heston as Richelieu was more intense. I remember his famous answer to one of his henchmen saying hé had many enemies . He replied. " I have no enemies, only France has enemies"
What I wanna know is with Peter now taking over command of The Tardis will he still be able to fit into his now very very busy Time Lord schedule the occasional return to The Musketeers as Cardinal Richelieu or will the series creators recast the character? I mean you can't do The 3 Musketeers without their most infamous nemesis!!!
+ScottieGirl20 He got the role of The doctor in Doctor Who and the filming dates clashed so he had to choose between the musketeers and doctor who. I'm glad he got the part as the doctor but I'm so gutted because the cardinal is an awesome character. Maybe some won't agree with me when i say that he had a perfect blend of good and evil in him. Like when he helped the musketeers be rid of Marie de Medici. The cardinal said once that, everything he did, he did for France and I believe it to be genuine.
+Fahad Islam Cardinal Richelieu is similar to Melisandre from Game of Thrones. similar in a sense that they are both misunderstood characters. their methods are immoral at Times. they both fight for a greater cause and a lot of people have some disdain for them.
Well, he _did_ grow up watching Pertwee, so it would actually be understandable. And if you're saying that because you think it wouldn't look good, it's debatable. No one knows how such a thing would look.
I'm wondering if this is giving Steven Moffat a few ideas about D.W. stories. Since the costumes, sets, etc. for this series already exists, would the D.W. people think about doing a story in this time period?
or a future writer where the Doctor fights off an evil version of himself...ahem someone looking like the cardinal or acts like the cardinal...there is a legend that the cardinal is the Valeyard. the Valeyard went to Earth to find him and became cardinal Richelieu and rest was history.
We are talking about upper class French gentleman in the 17th century, they would not be wearing “heavy leather” outfits. You can find out what people would wear back then if you just made a quick search on google.
"This is my standard, going to work, torturing, no-one-expects-the-Spanish-Inquisition type of outfit."
I literally saw this comment as he was saying that in the video
@@her0880 Love when that happens
"London Fashion Week, are you watching?"
holy crap. i'm finding myself falling more and more in love with him

Leave it to Capaldi to make a villain look this good!
It's good to see that his modelling has improved…
SearsDrama THAT is a freaking brilliant comment, I laughed my head off XD
This man really loves red lining.
I didn't actually think it was possible to love this man any more...
My daughter loved watching season 1 of this - she was watching the dvd titles over and over. I asked her why and she said, "I could watch Peter Capaldi spin around in that cloak AAAALLL DAY!" I must say I had to agree.
He is so humorous when he is playing around with that cloak.
I love how dorkish Peter is with his cloak. I hope he keeps it when production is over
It's so super cute :)

OMG he is so great, this have make me love Peter Capaldi even more.
The pose Capaldi strikes at 1:34 is very similar to that classic pose of Pertwee with his inverness cape. He is such a Whovian. :)
WAIT A MINUTE.
It is from the inside.
Just like the Doctor's new jacket.
OH. MY. FREAKING. GOD.
Peter Capaldi loves colored patterns inside clothing. Similar to how Matt Smith loves colored socks.
I know. He was wearing them before :) But I only remember him wearing clothes like that in his "private" life and not as another costume :)
Luke Skywalker is He wore a jacket with pink silk lining on Craig Ferguson's show. And that's just...magician!
This is the most fabulous thing I've ever seen
It is tooo fab YO
Damn. He can work a cloak.
It seems to be an unwritten rule, if you are wearing a cloak, you have to try the "flourish-and-over-the-shoulder" move. PC actually manages to carry it out without looking like a pantomime villain!
I fall further and further for this man smh WHY is he so perfect
"Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition"
Hahahaha! Well played!
In that cloak Peter could say "Look at me I'm Jon Pertwee" :D
Oh my god, I love him so much. He, as Richelieu is fantastic. I can't even... I need a moment.
Ufffff. And I haven't even thought about how he will be as The Doctor. This is too much for me.
every single role of peter capaldi is LEGENDARY
Peter Capaldi is the best!
I WANT THIS MAN!!
I thought he couldn't get any more awesome...and then he quoted Monty Python!
Peter should be a model. He can pull out any dress. He is so handsome
I like that its black and red just like The Doctor's outfit.
Hahaha true!
maybe Cardinal Richelieu is the Valeyard and came to Earth to find 12th. but 12th never showed up.
What I liked most about Richelieu in the book was that he didn't strike me as a bad person, more as a very clever and cunning politian. I'm dying to see Capaldi playing this character, even moreso because the Cardinal was actually one of my favourite people in The Three Musketeers)
*'London fashion week, are you watching?'*
I love this man
can you read me a story Mr.Capaldi ? c: his accent and voice are so warm and ...manly(?)
1:31 That cape is FU*KING BADASS!!!
You could tell he had fun with the cloak XD Got to love Peter Capaldi XD
As much as I do like his Doctor I wish he would have stayed in the Musketeers
I thoroughly enjoyed this video. Thank you. I've never watched Peter Capaldi that I'm aware of, but he is entertaining and charming.
Nancy Reiss | Cool pfp
🤩
years later and i still find myself coming back to rewatch this video.
I always knew Capaldi had a wide range of skills, but making me laugh is a pleasant surprise
Suddenly the the Richelieu?!
Rule no.1 The Doctor Lies
London Fashion Week are you watching? This is what we like to do. ....That line almost lapses into Sean Connery Scottish. Lol
He’s just phenomenal!
This guy is truly something to behold...
I can't wait to see him play the doctor!
capaldi is awesome
Cannot tell you how much I love this!
Hahahaha! He is so awesome.

Would love to see Capaldi as a vampire now that he mentioned Dracula!!!!! 😍😍😍
I can't wait for BBC America to start showing this.
Peters a baddass
awesome, I want one.
OH MY OH MY HE LOOKS FABULOUS
Now he needs to do this with Twelves costume xD Show of his Doc Martens :D ♡♥
This guy is the Villain of villains like all the other villains see him as a role model on how you must to dress yourself if you ought to become a powerful antagonist, how to walk, talk etc
NO ONE EXPECTS THE SPANISH INQUISITION!!!
La cape fait tout xD
Et sa voix ;)
Ok, so I guess I have to watch the musketeers now, just to see him in this costume ...
Like a boss
Heston as Richelieu was more intense. I remember his famous answer to one of his henchmen saying hé had many enemies . He replied. " I have no enemies, only France has enemies"
Love him!
My Doctor 😭❤
THE NEW SUIT FOR THE DOCTOR
Is it weird that I think he's hot? Cos DAMNNNN
I miss you, 12th doctor :'(

It goes without saying but I must say, that's pretty awesome.
i love this series!
Lindo demais ❤
Pertwee looks great!
my Doctor
Why did this make me laugh so much
1:02 *deep growl* I'm Batman
that is a fantastik outfit, fashion today gets the thumbs down
He played a good villain.
I know he was the bad guy, but I was so annoyed when they bumped him off. It would have been nice to see him live to be Bad Another Day...
They kinda had to. He's otherwise occupied now.
+ScottieGirl20 He got the role of The doctor in Doctor Who and the filming dates clashed so he had to choose between the musketeers and doctor who.

Where can I get one of those cape? :3
And -- I think we found his look if he'd gotten the part of the Master's latest incarnation. A trifle more velvet, but mrrroowwwwrrr.
There's some Darth Vader in there as well...
Not to me tion some Severus Snape-ishness.
VERDADE? FASHION WEEK? MARAVILHOSO....HEHHEEEE.
Right - under no circumstances does the Twelfth Doctor get a cloak. We wouldn't want him channelling his inner Pertwee, how do we?
Well, he _did_ grow up watching Pertwee, so it would actually be understandable. And if you're saying that because you think it wouldn't look good, it's debatable. No one knows how such a thing would look.
lol love it
Such a shame he's not going to be in the second series because of Doctor Who, then again I think he'll be a good doctor.
The New Doctor is a funny man
I'm wondering if this is giving Steven Moffat a few ideas about D.W. stories.

Damnit i want a cape now
Peter seems to like black cloaks and coats with velvet insides!
I like the outfit it just screams BAD GUY! lol
Epic. Cute
I thought time lords swore never to interfere with the course of history!?
im watching him as the bad guy in The Musketeers and soon as the doctor.......... will be w...........
He's Batman...
the batman Doctor
We are talking about upper class French gentleman in the 17th century, they would not be wearing “heavy leather” outfits.

12th Doctor alternate outfit
He could be the next count dooku lol
Doctor?
I know lol but just picture the Doctor going thur a emo phase and wearing this
Yes?
Peter Capaldi Dracula's style
New doctor!
Very fashionable, but these outfits are not historically accurate. A Cardinal always wore red, not black!
Cute
cardinal dr who
cardinal who
+zinki120 good one!
Fab clothes
The Doctor.....
Hey everyone the next Batman is here
This should’ve been 12’s costume
I wonder if he knew he was doctor who when making this
