Cindy Sherman: Untitled #96

In 1981, Cindy Sherman created a series of photographs known as the Centerfolds. Sherman had already achieved significant acclaim for her Untitled Film Stills. The Centerfolds both continue and reinvent Sherman’s project. The Centerfolds continue Sherman’s investigation of the relationship between identity and appearance. And, these works reinvent the artistic vocabulary by which Sherman engaged this issue.
