    How do you get this green plant red? besides strong light ( Chihiros wrgb 2 10yr anniversary) and co2? Is there any other steps?

    My favorite plant too. I talk about it all the time on my channel. I actually think it's easy to keep. Grows like a weed and if left unchecked takes over my tanks. A great problem to have :)

      Yup! I saw an aquascape from japan who exclusively used H. pinnatifida and it was MAGICAL!!!

    I know this is from 2020, but minute 4:10 about pre planting in substrate before going epiphytic is a great idea. too bad i already glued all the stems to rocks and only one is near the substrate LOL

      thanks, in my case it went too well. that scape got overwhelmed by H. pinnatifida and affected the flow of water, thus affecting CO2 distribution, had a severe episode of BBA for shortwhile. 1 tip I could add is to trim it consistently so every succeeding growth will be smaller and more manageable.

    what is your nitrate level in your tank? i can’t seem to turn my hygrophila pinnatifida red. i have co2 injection, i am using chihiros a series 2 90cm, and apt 1 fertilizer. i have lots of fish so i didnt use fertilizer with nitrogen.

      the thing about H pinnatifida is that naturally its a brownish to dark green plant. If you really want red H pinnatifida nitrate limitation is key. you might want to consider using less livestock. OR get the H pinnatifida UK version (Uttara Kannada) which is more red compared to brownish red on the regular version. I was only able to maintain a red H pinnatifida for a month or so with almost 0 nitrates. After that i resumed with my regular EI dose.

      @@AquaristForFun salamat boss. di rin kasi ko sure kung UK version ung nabili kong HP, pero kaya ba ng chihiros A series 2 ung intensity na kelangan? or kelangan ko ng mas mtaas na intensity?

    • @AquaristForFun
      @AquaristForFun  2 роки тому +1

       @Jun Shimaguchi ang sabi ng 2HR Aquarist pagdating sa HP di naman ganun ka importante and light intensity, pero para sa akin malaki din factor yun eh. depende siguro if malapit sa ilaw yung plant para mas mataas yung PAR level. Makakatulong yung malakas na ilaw. either palitan mo yung ilaw mo or bili ka pa ng isa pang Aseries2. Ang PAR levels naman ay compounding so nag aadd up yung PAR values kapag 2 yung ilaw. yung sa bonsai scape ko 2 yung Aseries2 ko eh.

    i want to ask if finatifida can still grow at tds 235, what is the solution to lower the water ppm ?

    • @AquaristForFun
      @AquaristForFun  2 роки тому

      actually, my water hardness is at 500ppm. Never had actual problems. It just took longer to get decent CO2 level in the water but other than that, didn't really notice any difference. It might limit you choice of livestock tho.
      Best way to lower water hardness is by using RO water. RO systems can be relatively cheap and effective

    How u make it red?

    • @AquaristForFun
      @AquaristForFun  3 роки тому +1

      Intense lighting and controlled nitrates (low). It's attached on wood so that it's physically closer to the light as well. That way plants are exposed to higher PAR reading.. Low nitrates slows down their growth rate exposing them to light even more... Plants turning red is their way to protect themselves from intense light. Think of an analogy. We get sunburn if we get exposed to intense sun. Plants turn red if they get exposed to intense light
