I’m a bigger guy so I take 40mg for large meetings and 120mg for presentations/public speaking, usually takes 2hours to take effect. I would not recommend taking everyday due to possible fatigue and other side effects mentioned in the comments. I usually take it once a week because I’m a manager and required to host team meetings.
I'm taking a 10m for anxiety and blood pressure. Its been 3mos now, and its helping me. I work in transportation and I get high anxiety about driving in the winter months..so my blood pressure was up!! I didn't know what was going on and its been a few years!! I didn't like it. It made my body feel hot. A drunken body with a sober mind is how it feels. Not nice at all. Day after I took it, I felt relaxed a bit. But the dizziness makes it all pointless

I've been prescribed these as my heart suddenly starts beating like I've been running. I am under pressure as I'm in emdr therapy and my daughter and two young grandchildren have had to move in with me due to domestic violence. My hearts breaks for my grandsons, they're so confused and traumatized by all they've seen. I'm scared to try these tablets. I think if my heart suddenly goes again I'll take one but I don't want to take them 4 times a day as the majority of the time my hearts beating normally. It's horrible being scared. If your using it for migraine prevention and it drops your bp too much, you can eat some cannabis to bring it up to normal. Works for me. If i dont take both together i will pass out.

I use it for migraines and I don’t have any issue with either. I do get bad abdominal cramping about 8hrs in for about half an hour then it subsides. It’s weird and worries me but I haven’t been on it but a month.
I had lost my smell and taste and also with few other cold symptoms during March when I was taking this medicine. I had the antibody test recently and said I didn’t have it. So I can only blame it on this side effects or it has been to long to detect the antigens

I stopped suddenly 2 days ago after 2 and a half weeks on 80 mg a day , 2x 40mg, and cut down to 20mg x2 times a day the final 3 days, is this ok? I am also on Clarithromycin and felt some chest pains when taking both. More like a central chest burning pain as well as bones around the chest. Feeling slightly better but waking up with what feels like heart flutters, like my heart/chest is shaking, for around 5 mins before calming down. I'm happy to continue stopping them abruptly as I was taking them for chest discomfort and headaches/sinus issues originally however the clarithromycin seems to be doing a better job. I suffer from sinus problems, dizziness , nausea etc, for 8 months now. Please let me know if it's ok for me to cut off completely as I'm going onto my 3rd day of abruptly stopping and also if it's ok for me to continue with my clarithromycin. Thanks

I took Propanolol 20mg once a day for two months, it was causing increased anxiety for me, so I weaned myself off, by going to 10mg for 6 days (not sure if this was a long enough time for this dose), about 4 days after i started getting symptoms of withdrawal. I check for the withdrawal symptoms and what I was experiencing wasn't on there. I've been going through random breakdowns, getting severely upset for no reason, this lasted for about 6 days, after that, anxiety increased, with intrusive thoughts being amplified, also confusion, and this has been continuing for the last few days. It's been 13 days since i last took a 10mg a day, 10th day of withdrawal symptoms. Again, not sure if these are common withdrawal symptoms. Side note, my body is really sensitive to medicine.

In April, I was suffering from waves of body chills - not sure if it was 'the' virus - with tightness in my chest and breathing difficulties. My doc put me on this drug for anxiety, though I am certain that my condition caused some anxiety - not the other way round. I still get a dull ache in my chest and some breathing issues. I'm now not sure whether the Propranolol is causing the breathlessness and as such, I'm a bit worried about stopping them. But I have been reducing the dosage and I'm now down to 5mg once a day. Does anybody know if 5mg is an Ok dose to stop on or whether to do a week on 2.5mg?
My first time I took one pill an hour before bed, got drowsy and thought ok good nights sleep :) Laid in bed thinking I wasn't breathing right, very shallow and scared me into anxiety lol (opposite of intended purpose). Had to get up just to jump start my breathing I felt, finally went back to bed fell asleep then woke up with crazy view of my room...my alarm clock digits looked 3 times bigger than normal...took a minute to re calibrate my reality to normal. I am afraid to take it again felt shallow breaths the next day also but next day I was fine, I wonder if it was doing what it needed to do or is it not good. Might try again tonight...my wife says it is all in my head, she may be right.
Been taking it 2 months now, I am ok with it after the initial experience. I do think its helping with my hypertension. No more side effects except a few behavior patterns, I am calmer now I guess.

I've been two days into using this medication for High BP and Anxiety, and It's working almost immediately. (60mg twice a day) I was having blood pressures of 150/80 and 146/92 etc.. Now it's back to 120/80 and similar blood pressures. My concern with it though is the 50BPM I sometimes drop to. Will this medication attempt to lower my heart rate even lower to dangerous levels that would lead to the heart stop beating?? Like I said, I'm only two days into this stuff.

Different than Xanax. Xanax makes me more relaxed and maybe tired if I take too much. This just made me feel totally comfortable. In work meetings I always felt a bit of unease. I took it today and spoke freely. Felt comfortable. No feelings of anxiety. Also met with a few customer and no little spike of adrenaline that I wouldn’t normally get. Was just able to be myself. Xanax helps when I’m having anxiety or can’t sleep. But I feel a little dumb on it. I have no mental fogginess with propranolol. I’d say the only side effect I had was a little tiredness when trying to physically push myself. Just a different feeling altogether than Xanax.
Im taking 80mg ER for migraines…is anyone experiencing mild to severe stomach pain/cramping several hours into taking this medication? It’s like clockwork I take it before bed then when I wake up the next day I’m having stomach pain/cramping that makes me want to go to the restroom. Then after about 30 min it subsides and I’m fine the rest of the day.

Ever since I started taking this med (60 mg ER) I’ve had horrible constipation (and hemorrhoids as a result). Wondering if it’s the propranolol or coincidence.... anyone else have this?
Main physical side effect for me is extreme mucus and thic mucus, its always stuck and annoying, I caugh a lot, often its hard to make a deepv yawn, its like I cant expand my lungs to full capacity. Other side effect is nightmares, I already had nightmares from zyrtect but its worse with inderal. And anither, might have personality change, I feel violent. Im afraid Ill hurt someone. I feel agressive. Might be caused by zyrtec this agressiveness.
I am weary of taking tablets at the best of times. At the minute i am bp tablets , And at times my heart pounds, races, and palpitations. In most sexually healthy individuals beta blockers should not cause eretile dysfunction or could have minor influence. Whether they could be helpful or not for sexual performance also depends on the individual. Also for performance anxiety only non-selective beta blockers should be used. Medications like Viagra may also help. But for healthy individuals both medications should be started at low doses and increase if necessary and used occasionally.

I have propranolol for anxiety, 1 coffee triggers panic attacks with rapid rhythm (150-187bpm). It's safe to take caffeine with propranolol ?
Caffeine reduces the effects of propranolol so you could consume coffee but it just diminishes the effects of the propranolol

Take it for anxiety, every time I've smoked on it doesn't really change anything, a bit more sedated or tired. Good luck!

How are you now?
Sounds like you need a different anxiety medication altogether! Check with your doctor.
Is it possible to cut a 40mg tablet in 4 10mg peaces?
Yes, the non-extended release tablets can be cut. A pill spliter may help.

My first time I took one pill an hour before bed, got drowsy and thought ok good nights sleep :) Laid in bed thinking I wasn't breathing right, very shallow and scared me into anxiety lol (opposite of intended purpose). Had to get up just to jump start my breathing I felt, finally went back to bed fell asleep then woke up with crazy view of my room...my alarm clock digits looked 3 times bigger than normal...took a minute to re calibrate my reality to normal. I am afraid to take it again felt shallow breaths the next day also but next day I was fine, I wonder if it was doing what it needed to do or is it not good. Might try again tonight...my wife says it is all in my head, she may be right.
Yeah, I’ve had similar effects. I hate this medication.
Been taking it 2 months now, I am ok with it after the initial experience. I do think its helping with my hypertension. No more side effects except a few behavior patterns, I am calmer now I guess.
How many mg did you take before you had this experience? Have the medication in my possession but am reluctant to take it as I prefer holistic approaches.
Is 80mg too much for anxiety?

My one is 40mg and I am taking twice a day it does help.
I've been two days into using this medication for High BP and Anxiety, and It's working almost immediately. (60mg twice a day) I was having blood pressures of 150/80 and 146/92 etc.. Now it's back to 120/80 and similar blood pressures. My concern with it though is the 50BPM I sometimes drop to. Will this medication attempt to lower my heart rate even lower to dangerous levels that would lead to the heart stop beating?? Like I said, I'm only two days into this stuff.

Different than Xanax. Xanax makes me more relaxed and maybe tired if I take too much. This just made me feel totally comfortable. In work meetings I always felt a bit of unease. I took it today and spoke freely. Felt comfortable. No feelings of anxiety. Also met with a few customer and no little spike of adrenaline that I wouldn’t normally get. Was just able to be myself. Xanax helps when I’m having anxiety or can’t sleep. But I feel a little dumb on it. I have no mental fogginess with propranolol. I’d say the only side effect I had was a little tiredness when trying to physically push myself. Just a different feeling altogether than Xanax.

Im taking 80mg ER for migraines…is anyone experiencing mild to severe stomach pain/cramping several hours into taking this medication? It’s like clockwork I take it before bed then when I wake up the next day I’m having stomach pain/cramping that makes me want to go to the restroom. Then after about 30 min it subsides and I’m fine the rest of the day.

Gives me chest pain to my doctor taking me of them because makes me dissy and and causes my feet to be so cold lol dont worry if it was heart attack you would know about it tell your doctor giveing you chest pain they will probably tell you to reduce them or give you less of a dosage of them I am down to 10mg soon be cutting them in half with knife and be of them turns out I just have really bad anxiety thought was thyriod problem but my blood work says otherwise hade bad heart palpitations reason got put on them but was anxiety causeing palpitations and propranolol made it worse deeper beats

It can result in low blood pressure, most people can have a few drinks without issues. Just be cautious

Ever since I started taking this med (60 mg ER) I’ve had horrible constipation (and hemorrhoids as a result). Wondering if it’s the propranolol or coincidence.... anyone else have this?

Main physical side effect for me is extreme mucus and thic mucus, its always stuck and annoying, I caugh a lot, often its hard to make a deepv yawn, its like I cant expand my lungs to full capacity. Other side effect is nightmares, I already had nightmares from zyrtect but its worse with inderal. And anither, might have personality change, I feel violent. Im afraid Ill hurt someone. I feel agressive. Might be caused by zyrtec this agressiveness.

I am weary of taking tablets at the best of times. At the minute i am bp tablets , And at times my heart pounds, races, and palpitations. I have been given these propranolol 40mg once a day but not yet taken them. I was given them for anxiety . But i do not like the thought of not being in control or side effects. So confused of what the right thing to do.

That would all be up to your doctor what your dose is and how you take it , but yes, age doesn't matter There maybe a better solution for you. :)

@@arefashionista You may need to work with your Doctor and taper the medication. Some people have difficulty stopping cold turkey.

I've got a ton of it from 2011 when my dad died. I'm thinking of taking them to help me. 12 years later. Haha prescription meds don't go off though. They just tell you they do so they can make more money out of you.

Whether they could be helpful or not for sexual performance also depends on the individual. Also for performance anxiety only non-selective beta blockers should be used. Medications like Viagra may also help. But for healthy individuals both medications should be started at low doses and increase if necessary and used occasionally.
