Its not only IIT that makes qualified students. Its the best students that come out from Jee exams that make IIT the institution it is. But Abhu Dhabhi government can spend huge money to buy best teachers from all over world, so it might be one of the best institutes.

At first there were the premier IITs (Kharagpur, Bombay, Madras, etc.). Then came the second (and third?) tier IITs where the students who score a rank higher (worse) than 1000 in the entrance exams can attend. Now IITs are expanding to other countries? I view this as a slippery slope, diluting the quality behind the IIT brand.
The IIT's still are the best if you compare them with other colleges. They have world class faculties and all. Even now there is so much competition and you are saying that this is diluting. Just think what would be the competition if everyone was competing for 4-5 IITs. They are not diluting but expanding
Anyways IITians in India don't get good salary and eventually they move to USA. It will greatly benefit UAE and IITians studying in UAE. IITians don't prefer to work in Indian companies cuz of low salary and higher tax. UAE is tax free and salary also lot more. When someone does IIT they hope for more than 20-30lakhs package which you can't expect from Indian companies. That's why today most IITians are jobless cuz they ain't getting that much package. Most of the top talent will eventually work for US companies. I Think more IIT should open in UAE and middle east.

Also yes people in india don't earn that much but there are IITians who earn in crores in india and as you would know about the purchasing power parity. Even if people earn more in other countries they have to spend more too. And no most IITians are not jobless as you said. People need to understand that just going to an IIT will not make them earn 40 lakhs, it is a great feat to go into IIT but if your employer will pay you that much money he will also need those types of skills from you. Ofcourse as you said brain drain is a major issue in India, and we really need to fix this. Fortunately now many MNCs and Unicorns are coming in india which will reduce this brain drain to a great extend. The educational facilities at IITs, while probably best in India are far inferior to second tier universities outside India. 2nd - for their own colleges like in germany, uk, usa, switzerland, japan etc, emphasis is on design, creative thinking, building new projects etc which is almost missing in india ,
also idnian private companies dont pay money to continue projects made by university students where as there are 100s of sponsors willing to pay in foreign universities.

IITs got their reputation primarily because the students they educated were among the brightest in the country. The educational facilities at IITs, while probably best in India are far inferior to second tier universities outside India. Now, over the years, IitS have embarked on publicity stunts, and they have lost focus. Only a matter of time before they become irrelevant. Posted September 4, 2024.
