These beauties have blown me away in all regards of sound quality, replacing my set of Klipsch in the main room. The LSiM series uses several special pieces of tech to get great bass extension, phenomenal soundstage and crystal clear non-harsh high end.

On sale at 50% got jump on that deal, but what would be best for a room 19' x 11' let's say 1500 cubic feet. 703 I really like but then got get dual subwoofers. Going to build home theater, also I like hard rock music like Iron Maiden Steve Harris one of the best bass player and fast, your suggestion?

@I was with your mother i'm between Focal Aria and Martin Logan 60xti. either 1 of those 2 is good choice? too many options so i narrowed it down to those 2. even though i listen sound demo from youtube the sound from my speakers(Z5500 5.1 THX. the 5 speakers have 317w rms) is good for these 2 brands. genres of music i listen: metal, alternative rock, trance. my budget is not for something like Focal Sopra that cost €14,000 pair. if you have other suggestion for the genres i mention hit it.

Great review! I got my 707's a few months ago, and like the reviewer, I immediately fell in love with them. To me they sound way better than speakers that are 4-5 times more expensive. I've auditioned Focal, B&W, Martin Logan, McIntosh, etc. I much prefer the sound these yield. I have them bi-amped with a 100wpc Rogue Audio Cronus Magnum II and a vintage 165wpc Onkyo M-504. My good man, I never leave comments on UA-cam (but just had to for this review), and like you, have come from a pro audio past. Currently own some vintage Polk RT3000 dual cab towers with integrated powered 8" subs. Been thinking about a replacement, but it is really tough to find something to replace RT3000's, because I like my speakers to hit HARD and sound good without fatigue. The way you spoke, and presented these 707's were priceless, I like your honest approach, and just the way you spoke suggests the decades of audio experiences you have had. You, my friend, might be the only person on the planet who has finally convinced me that it is time to sell my vintage RT3000's for a pair of these. And they would be paired on a Carver A753x (have several TFM35x's in my rack as well for surround duty. Looking to also replace my super large CS1000 (with subs) for the 706 center. Thanks for taking the time to do this great review. Now I have to go find some pre-owned, and who the heck will sell these to upgrade right ? Maybe some guys moving to the Legend series now. Thanks again man !!

But quickly found thier limitations and most importantly found the horn sound is just not my taste overall. Nothing wrong with them, it's just personal taste.

I took the lsim 703s completly apart on my utube channel, Just wanted to show people the proper way of taking the lsim apart and reinstalling better than stock did, theirs alot of not so tight screws threw the whole box Espically with the adaptor plate that holds the tweeter and mid cone to the box . And its not that polk rated them at 87db that makes them hard to drive its the fact that Polk rated them at 8ohms , Polk should have rated them at 4ohms my testing shows speakers drop to 4-7ohms most of the time ! Making the speakers almost twice as hard to power them and this is very hard on an under powered amp my 703 are rated at 200watts now i see why

Just saw this review and really enjoyed it! I’ve been a Polk Audio fan since I bought my first pair of Model 10s back in 1979. The LSiM 707s are my fifth pair of Polk of speakers from this manufacturer. All I can say is wow! These speakers are expensive, but I would pit them against units at twice or even three times the price. Room-shaking bass, natural mids and clear highs - without that “ear fatigue” that is common with bright-sounding speakers. I agree with the reviewer that they are somewhat power-hungry, but if you’re running amplification at 100-200 watts RMS - you’ll be rewarded. Polk Audio products have been around for a long time, and unfortunately, have often not been taken seriously by some audiophile publications. This is unfortunate... They are worth listening to. I’ve been a fan for 40+ years and I’m continue to be impressed!

I have a borrowed pair of the LSiM 707 running off my T+A PA 3000 HV which is rated at 300W per channel into eight ohms and 700W per channel into four ohms. I find the sound stage to be very front forward and nicely layered and I do agree with you pushing power to these - they do seem to eat it up and handle it well.
As you noted these speakers perform very well with Jazz tracks and on the original master recording of Donald Fagen’s The Nightfly, preserved the percolating rhythm that make this-and many of the album’s other songs-such an enduring pleasure. Nice job Polk. I am looking forward to auditioning the new Polk Audio Legend L800's.

  • @wanderinguser7665

Thanks for another audio gear review! Your experience sounds very similar to mine upgrading to Polk's RTiA9, the improvement in the sound stage was shocking! I'm fortunate that I can separate mine close to 14' (no wife acceptance factor here, ha ha) but between the depth & the solid bass response I was immediately sold!
It sounds like the LSiM series is a solid step up in terms of the high end & maybe a boost in the low end too. I wouldn't call the A9 harsh but there's a noticeable brightness there that's not as natural sounding as I'd like but I haven't listened to anything in that price range that compared. Congrats on what sounds to be a great set of speakers!

Well, I just got a pair of 707's in mahogany. Boy do they sound spectacular, especially with music. I'm running them from a Marantz AVR but will be moving to separates soon - Emotiva XPA-DR3 - which is rated at 450 watts at 8 ohms. Should be plenty of clean power to hear what these 707's can do.

I finally managed to find the last of the LSiM’s I needed in order to have a full complement of the same series of speakers. I had bought a pair of LSiM 707’s to replace a set of LSi 25’s that had been struck by a massive lightning power surge…even though they weren’t even turned on (but they were plugged in). Lightning had blown out their internal amplifiers for their built in side firing subwoofers. The 707’s were the follow on speakers to the 25’s, which Polk Audio refused to repair. Extremely frustrating because my 25’s weren’t but about 5 years old, and Polk was already calling them old. I don’t consider speakers to be old until they’re about 20 years old or more.
Regardless, my home theater system now consists of LSiM 707’s, LSiM 702 f/x’s, LSiM 703’s, and in ceiling 900-LS series ATMOS speakers, all from Polk Audio. Additionally, I have a 15” subwoofer from Klipsch, as well as a set of Klipsch ATMOS/Front Height speakers. The Klipsch speakers play quite well with the Polk’s, and frankly, their subwoofer blows the Polk Audi subwoofer away, both in sound clarity and depth of the sound. Additionally, the Klipsch subwoofer was the only one I could find that dipped below 20hz, which is the bottom end of what the human ear can hear. But…you can feel it nonetheless.
Polk Audio builds the best speakers for the money, PERIOD. Nobody else comes close. To beat the Polk’s, you’re going to have to spend more than $10,000 on your front speakers alone. They literally sound that good. I doubt that I’ll ever upgrade again as I’m so happy with these. Not only do they sound fantastic, they look the part as well, especially with the speaker grills off. They’re magnetic, so when they’re off, you have a nice clean surface without grill prong holes. The cabinets are absolutely first rate…far better than those of the Klipsch, which look more like they’re from the 80’s in style than the 2000’s. Although these Polk’s are no longer available from the manufacturer (they’ve been discontinued and replaced by the LEGEND Series), they’re well worth your effort to find and buy them on the used market such as eBay. I managed to find a brand new pair of 703’s still in their boxes that hadn’t been used. I got a fantastic deal on my 707’s, as I found them at half price on eBay as well…also brand new. So if you want them, DON’T DRAG YOUR FEET…the longer you wait, the harder it’ll become to find them. The 703’s are already hard to find. It took several months to find a set.
For a moderately priced home theatre system, these are far and away THE BEST SPEAKERS YOU’RE GOING TO FIND. They’re extremely musical with a wonderful warmth that’s lacking in many speakers. And when used in a home theatre, they’ll transport you into the scene. They’re that good. Just have enough power available to push them. They’re hungry for power. I’m running mine bi-amped off both a Denon AVR-X8500 150 watts per channel AV Receiver and the Yamaha MX-5000 150 watts per channel power amp. My speakers are only a few inches off the wall due to the configuration of my room. But they’re about 12-14 feet apart, which has worked out quite well.

Harder to get lower bass out of the small drivers whilst keeping them efficient. The extra power is needed to control them in the low end. You can get similar sized drivers and towers that are more efficient but they won't dig as deep into the lower hz.

That was an inspiring review. Went and replaced my polk rti a7s with 707s. First connected sony 1080 avr with 100w/channel. Good but felt I was missing something. Then connected my old pioneer sc-37 avr in 2 channel mode. It delivers 140w/channel. Blown away. Soft, beefy, laid back sound. My kind of sound. Do you think if I feed more power say with emotiva power amps I will have next level of experience? Or my sc-37 is sufficient and might not see much headroom? Thanks.

" I think diminishing returns kick in pretty early.", I agree with you sir.
I have just good, but entry level stereo equipment and I have a friend with a heavy wallet, who is a true audiophile. I listen to his 150,000 USD audio system and I wonder how better it sounds to my just good system. We have made blind tests with other friends and we can barely hear the difference between my speakes and his speakers costing 10 times more than mine.
There's a limit around $3,000 that you won't hear that much of a difference with more expensive speaker, it is just the finish on an expensive speaker and not the sound that makes a difference in price.
For instance a Magnepan 1.7i, even though it is much cheaper, it sounds more natural and beautiful than many speakers costing many time more than them.
These Polks are a beauty and I have them on shopping list. I have a set of Boston Acoustics M350, that I would also never let go, they are just brilliant and perfect!

I live in an apartment with very thin walls and I have an older lady a next door neighbor and if I crank music too loud, even though I do like to sometimes she gets upset with me. And I'm running some older Klipsch right now and the thing I like about them is they sound great turned up but they also sound great at low volume too.
I only ask because I have an opportunity to pick these up for a great price and I'm seriously considering it but I just wondering how they do at low volume

    • @COGuyStuff
      @COGuyStuff  Рік тому

If you mean the ones in Tallahassee, don't wait, snag them now! If your room is well treated, they retain all the clarity they have at any volume. Although what you may be referencing is the nature of the highly directional sound of waveguides/horns. The noise floor of the room is most critical for any speaker at low volume though.

Well what these are almost 2000$ speaker vs how much were you klipsch speakers less than 1000 I’m guessing lol? I’m sure the crossover in these speakers is just as cheap as the crossover in klispches speakers. They’re both budget speakers and if Polk has better crossover parts then they gota have cheaper parts somewhere to make up for it. They all gota make there money.. I like the simplicity of klipsch. There’s so many drivers with these I feel like the crossovers would all be messed up. Simple is usually best unless you wanna lay a crap load of money. Well considering the rp series is suppose to be better than the rf series I’m having problems picking up what he’s putting down. It just all depends on what your ears like. Some people like Polk more, some people like klipsch. The sound stage on say a more equal in price speaker say the rf7iii the sound stage on those is so massive and immersive I can almost guarantee a non biased person in Reguardless to Polk and klipsch would say the same thing. Same thing with the bass with those 10” drivers it’s gonna outperform the polks. If your ears are sensitive to the titanium diaphragm compression driver get a tube amp. But I’m sure those polks are amazing. But when you level the playing field klipsch just seems to be a step ahead of Polk. Not trying to take away from Polk they are amazing and what ever sounds best to your ears you enjoy. But this guy just makes it out to be klipsch is so bad. I guess he’s a big Polk fan. And no an immersive soundstage that has amazing depth is not only attainable with two channel listening. Depending on the speakers and source material three channel listening can be better. Also depending on the person but three channel listening can also be amazing an in my opinion better sometimes and some greats thought the same thing. And klipschs dispersal of sound is actually surprising. At least with my rf7iii. You can be sitting on the ground and not have the towed in at all and you’d think they were pointing right at you. So they’re actually very quite forgiving. Nothing about klipschs soundstage is 2d. Klipsch has some of the best soundstage in the game at there price point.. And klipsch gives you a love feel like the instruments or the singer is right there with you, and I guarantee you it is better than those polks, and that with the 10” drivers that’s the truest statement I’ve said. O god with the rf7iii you can turn them up as loud as you want and they don’t break a sweat. Rf7iii will have better dynamics stronger bass cleaner highs and you can just keep turning them up, the rf7iii would leave them in the dust with performance. I think the only true statement is that with the rf7iii does have that high end pierce depending what gear you pair them with. Wakes you up. And it’s quite subtle and only at crazy volumes. But there is ways around this if you don’t like it. And even the heritage line has this. Real life sound is like this. When a person blows into a harmonica with all the strength in there lungs it’s harsh almost painful. Pair em with the right gear and you won’t get this. Ok review tho, he had a convincing way about him. I actually really want to try these speakers tho. I bet in all honestly they would be quite wonderful. I’ve actually heard other good things about these speakers. I see they have a sale on Polk.com but they are out of stock... hummm I wonder how much Polk paid him for this review.
