I listened to both and I bought the 703s because they sounded better for 2 channel music, at least to my ears. I have them in my office with Peachtree Audio amps driving them.

Here is the key, Polk wants to make lots of money, the expense of making their new 2 way is "obviously" much less, it just less of a speaker. My friend bought a pair of the new ones. We both listened to absolutely everything, lots of music. He immediately sent the L200's back and found the good sale on the LSiM 703, there was no question in either of our minds. Polk needs to get the 703's out of the picture and off the shelves if they are ever going to start moving the expensive and non comparable L200, and that is the way it is.
Let me conclude by saying anyone paying about $1,000.00 more for a set of less expensive loudspeakers is so deceived. The LSiM 703 is clearly a much heavier, better designed loudspeaker, there is just really no comparison, my gosh, if anyone chooses the L200 over the LSiM 703, they have just been sold a bill of goods, the older model is so much more speaker, no comparison.

The crazy thing is that after watching videos of people doing the removals from the cabinets, the woofers from the Lsim series look way better made. The new ones are made from cheap stamped steel while the older ones are casted. Also the older cabinet is more complex and expensive to make. Honestly I'm not sure if this was a step forward from the build quality point of view.

@@JC.LC. I have the L600's, and I agree. I got them at a pretty good discount, and I think they sound really good, but I was disappointed that they used stamped-steel basket drivers at this cost, in their flagship line. I was late to the party on the LSiM line and missed the clearance prices, but after reading reviews I'm going to pick up a pair when I can.

The LSIM 703 are better in every way without hearing them. They look classier, weight more, are bigger, curves, better emblem, better grill, more speakers and cost less! I use mine with a JL Audio E110 sub, I’m good on my low end. Thanks for the comparison.

You got the price wrong. The 703 is $349 each or close to $700 per pair at least. Most sites show them closer to $750 per pair. Compare that to the 200s at $1800 per pair. Still half the price and the 703s are a bargain while they last ...

    • @kevinlabrum8539

The 703 is being phased out and so are at clearance prices. Keep in mind that prior to the advent of the Legend line, the Lsim series was the flagship polk line, and they were priced at $749 per speaker so were more like $1500 per pair.

    • @plaubelmakina8916

The 703’s were $1,800 per pair when they came out. I got mine when they were on clearance for $600.00 a pair. I consider that to be the best value for money of all time in bookshelf speakers. Well designed, there are no parallel surfaces on the speaker to prevent standing waves inside the speaker. The ring Radiator tweeter has always been good. They have tons of base and require plenty of power to get the most out of them.

i have a pair of 707s , a 2 pairs of 703s and a 706c i saw these new legend series before release and my first thought is they deff took a huge step backwords in design. visually the lsim are way better looking. im not sure if i could over that based on performance alone. im sure the new 800s sound incredible but that much better? also i like a warm natural sound... sooo the fact the new tweeter is brighter is a turn off to me

    • @anthonymartino9917

I also have the lsim 707s. I had 3 pair for all my main floor channels and the 706 c as my center. They were fantastic! ACTUALLY THEY ARE FANTASTIC! I wanted to upgrade to something that polk could not offer me and did though. I still use the 707s as my rear channels two pair so 4 lsim 707s towers. One pair for my center rears and one pair for my side rears. I give them 300 wpc and they sound incredible. They have excellent mids good highs and deep very tight bass well above their price point. I MEAN WELL ABOVE. They are a 7 out of a 10 where my upgraded fronts are a solid 10 as they should be they cost three times what the polk 707s cost even before their sale they had on them. But 7 out of 10 is astonishing and I think the 707s are if not the finest speaker they ever designed and made. Just look at the cut out design of it how it is braced for one! The cut out image is all over the internet and Polk bragged about it as they should! When have they EVER showed any Legend cut out?

The lsim 703 is more for music playback to get sparkle from it it needs to be Bi-amped my Emotiva basX A-300 alone couldn't handle the 703 but once I Bi-amped the 703 with IOTAVX-STACK which has 2 mono amps at HF and a Onkyo Integra M504 dual mono amp at LF basically 2 amps also so each speaker has 2 amps on it and ohh my now I know why these 20-30 pound amps do no justice for 703s so I put 80 pounds of amp with them and WOW dropping sound review soon , If anyone wants to see the real inside of the 703s check me channel out thanks K-space but the L-200 is more for home-theater big 🏋 difference between the 2 !

    • @The_Story_Channel
      @The_Story_Channel 4 роки тому +2

They don't need to be bi-amped to sparkle, they just need some power. I have a Peachtree 220wpc power amp and a Peachtree decco sky 125wpc and the 703s sound good with both amps.

the lsim are far better, I have the lsim 707s and used them as my main fronts until I upgraded to a higher end speaker but now use them as my rears. I actually use two pair as rears. The lsim series in my opinion is the best speaker series I think Polk ever made. Just look at the internal design of the 707 compare it to Polk's new offering. BTW how come they never show off the internal of the new Legend 800 or any other in that series?

@@Kpaceguy No! more like the internals are not as good. Just look at the separation and bracing and design of the 707. As far as the sda crap they can keep it. I wanted an end of upgrade for a while speaker and decided to go with Legacy Audio. Yes the cost was 3 times more but worth it. I want a speaker I can depend on no matter the material and that is not the case with their tech in that.

I have the lsim 703's as my fronts, and the 706c as my center channel. I am just wondering now that we are in 2024, is there anything better out there in the market, or should I keep what I have? For example the Kef Meta R3's get good reviews but I have never had the chance to listen to them. I would also like to listen to a pair of Wharfedale Lintons to see if I like the warm sound that people say they have. Wish I had a store with a listening room nearby to try different speakers.

It’s going to be bottom end because of the extra power they require. Plus it’ll be the high end because of the all new and improved wave guide tweeter. So it’s going to be tough. I’d plug one of each in to a stereo power amp with a direct source media player and walk back and forth left to right on and off axis. Youl hear a difference then
