Hi. Great review, ty! This is the first r7 review I’ve watched. And disclaimer I bought my first Polks 25 years ago when still in mom and pop shops. (Ls50’s). They’re in my Atmos 9.2 after 5 yrs now and still in love with them but they need a little maintenance now even though at a ridiculous price. I’ve seen r600 reviews and I have a lot of fancy equipment, but I’ve never had anyone understand me when I say 5.25’s hit harder than 6.5’s in my truck doors. I’m not ‘phile enough to explain it. But Toto Africa, SRV Little Wing…those higher drums, I want to feel them! Anyhow…what I’m kind of meaning is imo there’s a huge diff in the r700 vs r600 for my Metallica and Pantera, PJ, etc. Are these r7’s overkill and too low for this? Sry I can’t explain better. No one has understood me yet. Maybe it’s midbass I’m wanting…I don’t know lol
Those old Polks sounded good. My Uncle had a pair of them back in the I think 80s, connected to a Nad Amp. Sounded great. His had like 2 woofers and 2 midrange and a tweeter....hard to remember exactly. These R700 are great sounding. Good Midrange comes through but should be fed some real power. They are my choice for a non powered speaker for the music I like. The R600 cant perform like the 700...smaller overall. Polk has them on sale at the website today.
I just got a Yamaha RX-A4A and built the DIY The Hammer sub and it sounds great. I have a Polk Audio Monitor 70 system and it's time to upgrade. Should I go with the R600 towers (no bi amp posts) or the R700 and bi-amp them with the yamaha? I bi amped the monitor 70's and the Yamaha definitely has some umph and clarity. I do a lot of movie watching at loud volumes as well as listen to music. Thanks for any recommendations you can provide. Great review sir!
The R700 for sure. I dont think I would lose 2 channels from the receiver to biamp though. I Bi- amped years ago and really didnt notice a difference. But see you how you feel about it. I would in the future add a amp to the front preamp outs...something 150-300 watts. I know what 110 watts is like

Thanks for the nice review. This is the first review of yours that i saw. Did you test these with any movies? I'm still using Polk RT2000p's since 1999 and am looking at the R700's as a replacement. Most of my listening is in a 5.1 movie environment. Not sure if the R700 would be an upgrade? Nowhere near me to go listen to them. Thoughts?

Sure I could purchase one online but I prefer to listen before I purchase, albeit I can always send it back if I don't like it, but that's just such a hassle.
Stay well
It is a 4 ohm speaker
I'm considering these speakers. Would my Marantz NR1200 @ 75 watts per channel be enough to drive these speakers?
You could try. Just buy from a dealer with a good return policy or consider a amp at 140 watts or more. Luckily the Marantz has preamp outputs for that.
No way. Not nearly enough current behind those 75 watts.
Almost impossible to find these here in UK.
Also, high res certified floorstanding speaker is the dumbest thing I've heard 🤣
That's a shame its hard to find in the UK. They are a very great sounding, well balanced speaker.
We dnt use eq mate
Video are great but way too wordy
You should see the extended edition before its edited down. There will always be opinions of too much or too little. I post what I feel is needed to be comprehensive.
@@OldtradesReviews You did a good job. With so few audio shops available for demo your comprehensive review was golden 👍.
