- Took the Minelab Vanquish 540 for a spin... Sorry about the wind, pretty cool detector and works as Minelab says... Used all stock settings except adjusting sensitivity.

I just bought one of these as well. I bought the pro pack with 2 coils. First trip out I found a silver dime and a 1906 V nickel. It keeps up with my equinox 800 no problem. I bought it for a take along back up machine and I love the thing!
Nice. I just ordered one. Looking around watching videos of it in use. I wasn't planning on getting a metal detector, but my wife's dog thought it would be cool to take my rings into the back yard. She spotted my silver ring, but we couldn't find my wedding ring. It will be interesting to see how this picks out my ring. It is gold, and meteorite. I'll find out in a couple of days. My wife felt really bad. I'm sitting here thinking, not bad, I get a reason to start a new hobby.

I saw that Scotty dog and immediately thought of Scotty in Star Trek and Kirk saying "Scotty... Gimme that power" - lol. Great detector and I just ordered mine of Amazon today.
I like the Garrett Pro-Pointer AT. Along with my new Minelab Vanquish 540 is a good set up. Thinking of ordering the 8" coil from my local authorized dealer I bought the 540 from. I tried a cheap set of bluetooth headphones from Walmart, their ONN brand. There's like a half-second delay lag. I'll probably end up going with the Minelab Bluetooth headphones which my dealer said has better latency.

Little Scotty Dog is a game peice for Monopoly Game
just got one and started playing around the yard . choice not to dig targets till i learn more so went to ocean shores . found that even foil off beer bottles set it off in relic . went to coin and found wire and few other trash . then went in to the dunes . Found a tent stake at 6 in. went over the hole again another target 6 inches deeper a pocket knife 2/12 in blade Kershaw. playing in jewelery mode with gold flake .02 gram and hits fine 2 ,3 on surface at 1 in. down hits 1,2 2 in didn't read but made sound . thinking of getting a gold monster , for my claim , and prospecting the old claims around

Just to clear things up, YES THE WIND was bad and not normal for me to allow in my productions but, we have hunted this old townsite area for many years and it always seems to treat us well, before videos were being made some amazing coin finds were made here and we still manage one here and there. Good test area for a new coin relic detector. I have a few in stock at nuggetshooter.com , but just the 440 until my next allotment now....
NUGGET SHOOTER JOURNALS well, using the same test bed is a great way to test different machines. To me. Seeing which ones will find what the others could miss is a good judge for the detectors. Than again.... could just be the luck of the draw....⛏⛏⛏👍🏻

Hi Bill, I believe the Scotty dog comes in pairs. A black and white one. They are magic Scotties. Magnetic, and when you try putting them together, they push apart from each other. If that's what it is. Awesome!!!

What do you think of your little yellow minelab pinpointer? I have 2 of them. After using them a few times neither one works...
I have been using mine for 2 years now and works great, the one I am using is the pro find 35. If they went bad that fast why didn't you get Minelab to replace them, they are good about that.
My Garrett metal detector does the same thing. When placed in the coin mode, it finds junk. When Nugget Shooter did his roundup, there was more junk than coins.
I am hunting in abandoned home sites with trash everywhere. We got the coins hunting it for the last 10 years and there were oodles of them. That is why I took it there to hunt. Good test area. Good hunters dig all targets, even the iffy ones eh?

Have had a few rough months, but finally doing much better. I have been out a few times with the Equinox 800, It has done a great job with the small coil and the super saturated ground. A couple of rings (sterling and 14 kt white gold) and many clad coins. Did find a 1904 and 1919 wheat cent. Way to much snow to get to the old mines and mine dumps. Loving your videos & hope to get caught up with comments soon.
I fat fingered one of the 1 cent coins. It was a 1914 not 1904. Definitely would have been an Indian head if it was a 1904!

I keep the machine display cover in place even when the weather is dry keeps you from getting dust and dirt all over the control panel.
Gets too hot here and overheats the detector when fully enclosed by a cover. Heat damage can be more of an issue than a scratch or two and we have screen protectors on like you use on your phone.

saw a few other sourced comments about it being flimsy..it isn't to me..it is lightweight..balanced and buttons feel great in a tactile sense..great detector at a great price..thanks for the video..

I bet if you swing that coil near that bar, you'd find 2 or 3 good drunks. Scotty dog was always my game piece when I played Monopoly. He never really brought me luck- I always managed to land on Boardwalk with two hotels on it... and they were never mine.

I can use my Vanquish 440 in wet sand and only have to turn it down a notch.
I couldnt see the spot on the coil for pinpoint. I really want to see that. I cant exactly tell when trying to use it.

A very good detector for coin relic hunting and if the price is right jump on it.

Thanks for the video yes i have found tiny pieces of metal with the Van and also missed items on ground well searched with the Nox mainly using the 8” coil . Multi IQ may well be getting into AI (artificial intelligence) territory but it definitely works well!
Seems to be running near the same numbers as a Nox. Maybe a professional caliber user friendly machine.

Been thinking about pulling the trigger on the gold monster 1000. I want to shoot nuggets, but would that detector work for coins and relics also? It would be nice to have one good machine to start with. I already have a cheap machine(EFX 300) that works ok for coins and whatnot.
Also to be clear, this machine your are showing won’t work for nuggets that well right?
Look at the Minelab equinox 800.no the Vanquish is not designed to hunt nuggets

It was nice to finally see the vanquish in action after all this time. I was a little surprised though in the design of the control box seemed a little to forward and the angle of it seemed different. I wonder how you'll feel after a few hours of swinging it. Anyways, great job and curse that wind man. I cant stand it myself reminds of the high desert where we live in Victorville.

How can i discriminate against the sound of the wind?
I know, i even had a fuzzy external mic and it was bad. Unusual for my stuff to have much wind noise, but nature was not wind friendly this day.

Its pretty sensitive but quirky are they good? What do you know about em? I think they have to ne pretty good die to what they are made for vut i dint know much.

The reason I asked was I thought the frequencies were similar. We all need a T shirts that says, That “Treasure hunting is great ,but I rather be hunting a gold nugget” The Scotty dog was a neat find ,though, and the idea of weeding out non ferrous targets.

Yeah but you’re picking up a lot of trash and not the good stuff that’s why I said you should ground balance at first and then look for coins gold silver copper then you’ll have a chance to get the good stuff
