Fighting depression. Great topic Elizabeth. I get depressed hardly ever anymore. Moving out of that apartment and into my truck changed everything. I'm able to save money, and I usually set savings goals for myself. Having something to look forward to also helps. So I always have a road trip planned, and whenever I save for it, I get excited.

I was "alone" on my 49th birthday but I was swimming in a pool with waterfalls on Maui. I remember telling me someone it was my birthday and they asked if I was going to do something special.... I said yes, I'm in Maui....

Hi Elizabeth and belated Happy Birthday wishes! Love this video. It really hits home. I am alone every holiday and it has taken years since my parents passed to find a new normal. After years of crying all day on Christmas, finally the last couple years I have been able to find ways to enjoy the holidays in completely new ways. It is such a relief not to sink into that deep, dark depression abyss. Thank you for sharing what you do and how you have fun on special days.

I finally decided to quit worrying about the money. Like you, when special days arrive, I spend at nice restaurants. Today is a special day because it's my first day on an eight-day road trip around Arizona. So this morning, I went to the Dollar Tree in Casa Grande and spent $16.58 on snacks for the road.
I bought a heating blanket, I haven't plugged it into my inverter. I will try it out when I get my battery for my inverter. I bought a smaller inverter from Amazon but I might havevto buy a larger one
Make sure to find out how many watts of power your heating blanket consumes per hour. Electric blankets usually consume between 100 to 150 watts per hour. A 15amp fuse with your 12volt battery allows 180 watts max draw. If you use an inverter, don't power it up using your car battery. A power station like a Jackery 500 would be better and will give you the capacity you'll need. I powered up a 140 watt Roadpro oven from my cigarette lighter and burned up the circuit. A costly lesson learned.
Good luck with it - I have an electric blanket in my storage but have not tried it out in my car yet or with my battery

I’m always alone at Christmas by choice! My fam live in Bulgaria and I live in uk and I have a cat and I hate the holiday travelling. I love my cosy time, lots of peace, reading and watching UA-cam! Resting and recharging
My last birthday in March I was 48 and I spent the day by myself in London, lots of walking the city, galleries, lovely vegan food, bought some posh nail polish. Had such a great day.

Thank you for this video. I'm getting ready to leave car life after only 3 months. It's definitely not for me. I spent Thanksgiving working, I work gig work 7 days a week and I'm tired of all of it. Going to fly out of state to spend Christmas with close friends then heading off to a seasonal job in January with cheap housing. I'm ready to stretch out in an actual bed again ❤

Because I had my gallbladder out in the 90's, I do not handle fat well. I just bought a juicer for on the road, but want to get a small generator, I have a large one, I have a battery system, but will not be on the road until March at the soonest.
Find a menenite bake sale, they have wonderful baked goods.
I bought two 12v refrigerator freezers, 1 over a year ago - a 47qt $205.36, and 1 due to be delivered Monday - a 32qt $162.14 (total 79qts) for $367.50.
I decided to do my fridge this way so I have separate unit, double the electricity but more space for what I need. I buy the cheaper knockoff brands and can afford more that way. A 74qt refrigerator freezer combo is up to $1000+/-. 95+% of the time I am really happy buying knock off brands and looking at discounts off prices at Amazon helps.

@@elizabethoffgrid I buy a little each month or save a couple months for a bigger item. I only get 850/month. I buy pork loin sometimes flavored for around $8 each unless on sale or different stores have cheaper prices like around Thanksgiving safeway had them for $5ea so I bought 4. Later I won't need that much at one time but I froze them, each one I cut into 4-6 pieces and each piece will be 2-3 meals each. So cheap dinner meat. I like to cut them up for a fajitas with coleslaw cabbage sautéed. Mac and cheese with some meat mixed in works too. I have always been "poor" so I've learned to budget but I'm learning more by listening to different youtubers too.
I will be alone on Christmas.

Happy Birthday, If you have or can get power station 200-300 watts and get yourself a dash mini pie maker, you can make 2-5 mini pies to 1 large pie depending on 1 crust or 2 crust (from store bought crust). Then you can make yourself your pies in small quantities.

Hi Elizabeth. Happy 49th Birthday! I do mani/pedi on my bd and eat well too. It’s always different. Sometimes I’m alone, sometimes a party. That’s true for me too about the carbs and fat. Last night I had ravioli with lots of butter and cheese and a green salad. Butter makes all the difference in how I will feel and digest it. Too bad butter got such a bad rap. Always buy grass fed.
