Brent_Auctions_Indiana really just watching videos and came across these videos by accident I guess, originally from Massachusetts, live in Florida now, I've never cut a tree i do remodeling and painting but just really like sitting back and enjoying the hard work and positive message
Hi Billy Great video . First of all welcome to all the new subscribers 😁but to all the new army I would like to say Billy has gone from a professional, to a master as far as I'm concerned! Always great to wake up to a new buckin vidja....and what a vidja. Good work mate considering the tools at your disposal.....WELCOME to all those clever people that gave the sub button a poke. Glad your all here....have a wonderful hump 🐫🐫🐫🐫 day all...... Thursday morning down under.....love ❤️and hugs 🐨for mama buckin...😎👍🇦🇺
Hey Billy Ray, give Hogan a big old slap on the back for a great job on the camera there. What a treat it must be to get out cutting wood with your son like that. A good man and a good young man! Well done.
Hey Buckin!! Love the dead tree cutting. Mostly what I do for firewood. Each scenario is different. I remember my dad scaring me back when. Other way around now. Takes me back. Love it. Growing like weeds we are now. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Fun and informative video. I always thought of felling trees by removing wood in the direction you want it to go. You made me see it a new way by leaving wood to make it not fall where you don’t want it to go.
Thanks for the mention Billy. Thanks for not being one of the haters watching me learn. You've got a great channel with an awesome positive attitude. Keep it up!
Looks like the back yard buckin! Haha welcome to the states brother. That big guy shedding bark is definitely a shag bark hickory, beautiful trees, and some of the hardest wood around down here. The oak tree at the end is a chinkapin I believe, pretty similar to the white oak which is also common around here. Glad to see your Channel is growing You deserve it!
That was a cracking video we really enjoyed it - the perfect tonic for the day. Much appreciation to Hogan for being the cameraman. Hope everyone is Tip-Top, All the Best.
This was helpful -- a person doesn't often get a chance to watch a skilled faller working -- Thanks for talking us through what you were doing. And I'm glad to see you west coast types have trouble adjusting to half wrap saws in much the same manner as us east coast types do adjusting to full wrap saws with big dogs. :-)
Really liked this video. Nice to see someone come in and appreciate all the large hardwood timber we have here in the states. I feel as though we almost take it for granted sometimes.
Great video Buckin some good work once. Again wonderful country. Nice trees thanks for the highlight of the timber like the shag bark good to see ya loaded dog 👍👍🇬🇧
I there its my first comment on the channel. I thinks the wood you are looking at is American hop-hornbeam (iron wood) rather than shagbark hickory. Here in eastern canada its not rare to see that kind of tree in our maple land. They call it iron wood because its a really hard wood who is very resistant to abrasion and they used to make wooden gear out of it. Hope it help you from a french canadian maple syrup maker. Take care be kind...
Great fun to watch the over mature tree as there wasn't much around it . I thought you was going to use a dogtooth but I guess it did not need it went down lovely 😀👍
Taking your advice BR and sharing knowledge, like u said this is a learning experience 4 u with the new wood and all,i lived in Indiana,ky,and Tn. Another world, wood wise, than your used to ay. The first tree was a Tulip Poplar i think, then the one u asked help with, not a Pin Oak but Red,Pin's have pointy leaves
Hello Doug and family, Billy I hope you and Hogan are having a good time, Doug that's a sweet truck you have, welcome to all the new Subscribers it's a fun place so pull up a stump and enjoy the show.
Eric Russell ) A Hearty Howdy and Welcome to ya Eric! So glad you’ve climbed aboard and jumped into the comments as well. Don’t be a stranger! Be Kind, Be Blessed!
Looks like your having a blast Billy! It will be better with a new bar and saw though. :-) Looking forward to the next video! I would have to agree with other that have said bur oak (Quercus macrocarpa) as far as the oak tree you were looking at goes. Welcome to all of the new subscribers out there! Enjoy the show :-)
Welldone pal, i dont envy you dealin with all that hardwood rot. Good to hear you talk about different characteristics of fibre found in different tree species and environments. Loved working on df in bc. Grand looking woodland and scope for underplanting. Awesome too to see different tree characters in different countries. Thanks for the vid, keep safe muka. Orabest and peace.
Interesting watching the 390 as I have one . I love the leather wedge holder looks really smart . I take it the wall of wood at the back of the face cut keeps it on the stump for longer . Cracking fell wedge -man -ship
Last tree to me looked like a White oak. Pin oaks have a smoother bark on them, the rough/deep bark combined with the leaf with rounded ends points me to say it was definitely a white oak tree. Very nice smelling tree when you cut it and a very valuable tree especially one of that size.
Awesome to see your channel growing buckin keep that great content coming. Awesome to see you making all those buckin specials as well can't wait to get my hands on my buckaroon
Almost got to see you play with a stihl... This is good stuff Billy Ray, good people around here! You've really helped me build confidence felling trees.
Fun to see you cuttin in a new environment! Another time though, you'll have to bring along your own tools and saws. There's just nothing quite like one of your Walkerized 372s for getting work done! Looking forward to the rest of your time there! Work safe!!
You were only 390 miles away and didn’t stop by here for a coffee!! Glad you like the Midwest hardwoods. They are fun, but I’d like to climb a big Doug Fir👍🏻 Safe travels!
The Emerald Ash Bore beetle basically killed every ash tree in our area. That’s what people keep wanting me to take down for them. It makes good firewood, which is a plus because our woods and surrounding areas are full of it. Nice cuttin fellas👍👍 keep up the good work👏👏 love to you and the family❤️
I'm guessing Buckin likes the shagbark hickory..lol Great content my friend..Those tree's definitely needed to come down, still good wood above to recycle though..Excellent job my friend, the barber-chair was a bit hairy for sure..lol We Welcome all the new family member's that have become a big part of our ever growing family..Love to all and for those who will be there, see ya tomorrow in Indiana.. And much love to those who can't.Over and freakin out..
As always Cynthia, you're 'Bang On' with the comments. Has 'Ol Nut Bucket given a time and place yet for tomorrow's rendezvous? I haven't watched this video completely through yet, perhaps it's in here. Hoping I can make it, but my Honey told me I have a dinner date that I can not get out of... Hoping it's early! Be Blessed!
The first big tree was shagbark hickory, the 2nd looked like elm bark, Doug was holding an oak leaf in his hand but it wasn’t a pin oak leaf, too rounded, come to Ohio I’ll lend you a saw that will cut. Love the hardwood cutting videos, great job!
New friends welcome to the world of positivety a world where we all speak with one voice, where friendship, love, happiness is endless. You won't find any negativety here because it has no place amongst truly amazing people. Now Billy I suggest you contact that billy Ray guy and get a buckin special wedge banging axe for your wedges lol. Nice to see you on some hardwood. Stay safe friends and be kind and remember that small act of kindness who knows a wave, a good morning, a friendly smile might just change someone's day and maybe someones out look on life.
Hey Buckin, stumbled upon your vids, love em! I've got an old ProMac 10-10 that I learned to cut with when I was a wee lad, she's an oldy, but so am I, we're both still gnawin at the bark.
Pretty sure the first few trees you were in were white Ash. The Ash bore has killed ever last one of them in the region, and the bugs are not going to stop until every last Ash tree in North America is dead. Careful with the back cuts on the Ash, they split easy, so they like to Barber chair. That did look like Shag bark Hickory, hard as nails and makes awesome firewood. The second to last tree likely was a Tulip poplar, but it's hard to tell. The leaf on the last tree looked to be English Oak. The only real way to tell is buy the leafs. And yeah we don't use the full wraps much in the eastern half lol. Best of luck the rest of the week!!
Since my discovery of the 3/4 wrap handle all i want on all my saws. There just not there 4 the little ones it seems it's 2 bad it makes my bigger one more functional😒
Here in michigan I have not seen a "live" ash in probably 8 to 10 years....what was the dominate timber here is now just about extinct, its a shame..... and more bad news on this.......in asia when the ashes were gone, the borers started to feed on the maples! OMG almost every tree we take down now a days is bug infested and dangerous cutting work!
I must have 70-80 big Ash trees on my land, 100 ft trees. The Ash borer has started, I have a dozen dead now. Amazing how a beautiful green insect can cause so much damage to one of the toughest trees out there, but it does, and as far as I'm aware, it can't be controlled! Shame!
I'm halfway through the video and the one real high stump that tried to set back.....Hogan- "you're scarin my bud.........geeeeez!" to the ol man, hahaha I'm rollin over that one and Buckin just throws down the Wildman laugh
FilterChanger when you can't get a wedge grabbed out you do anything to find leverage lol, soon as he started fumbling the pouch I knew before he said it.........Hogan was killin me though cuz he knew what to do and was right, but the ol man knew too that the gust would die and he could push the wedge by hand just like we saw him do........stayin at the stump to ride out the chair was to feel alive, that's a timber faller's drug
Hi Doug, Billy and Hogan Thanks for taking us along for the day, it's almost like being there. That's to bad about the saw shop but it happens. Does Doug have a you tube channel or web site? looking forward to the drone footage. You guys have fun tomorrow with the get together. Wish I could be there. Stay safe guys. Welcome all new subscribers. Introduce yourself and tell us where your from. We won't bite. Be kind.
Buckin Billy Ray,I am confident that someone on here familiar with these tree's has already spoken up,but just in case, the tree @approx. 22 min that you identified as an Oak is actually an Ash. Get one of those guys or just look for them yourselves, but get someone to show you the small holes where the EAB (Emerald Ash Borer) bore into the tree, is decimating the species similar to DED(Dutch Elm Disease) and I am also not sure (on my phone anyway) if those trees that were identified as Shag bark Hickory actually were. I am further south (Arkansas) but our Shagbarks have a much larger flaky portion of the bark than what I could see (again on my phone).
Those shagbarks at the end of this were in a strange location . they normally live near water or low land . You was wanting to know about the Pin oak . Looked like one from the straight nature of the thing, but that entire stand was all straight and fighting for sunlight, maybe the edge was in heavy cover not too long back ? . The corn field might have drained the old water hole out with drain tile, and the creek that was there is now underground . I love watching you . I really have learned a few things from you , I love how you steer the tree down. Playing your cut to get what you want . I like the little chunk of wood you used to put the twist or your leaner, and make the tree dance .Also the way you plunge cut or high cut a Keebler Elf dead hole tree . I have a oak with a hole from the bottom up, longer than 6 foot . I do have some thickness on the far side to point it , then I can plunge right behind the good hinge , and walk the saw back to the trigger ? Or I can blow it up with 5 gallons of gas inside the hollow ? I did not want that thing come straight down or barber chair on me .Your a real hoot with your Northern manners . A real gentleman . From North Western Illinois , keeping you tuned in .
Nice to see you cutting some hardwoods....guess it's a bit different from what you are used to back in Vanc. Island...Can't help you on the species though...haven't got a clue what we are looking at, we don't have trees like that here, at least not native trees. By the way, welcome to all new soldiers comin' in lately...hope you enjoy the ride :)
Buckin in his element, I'm fairly certain he would fit in with any forrest no matter where it is in the world. Cant help with the tree species but its all wood LOL Would liked to have been a fly on the wall in that saw shop, Son of a 😎 Cheers mate 🍻
I just watched you and Steve and loved it so came over & checked your channel out and definitely subscribe ( even though I think macs are all noise but I understand my big brother loves em) keep on keeping on
DJ here in MO hand sharpening my chain while watching...I thought I was good at it but my edge didnt last long...after watching you fix a chain and explain the importance of the gullet Im finally on a whole nother level! Thanks a million Billy!

Man that Buckin is a true CRAFTSMAN!!! Amazing!!
Yes it is shagbark hickory!!! some of the hottest burning wood there is and makes great axe handles!!!!
Buckin Billy Ray,I am confident that someone on here familiar with these tree's has already spoken up,but just in case, the tree @approx. 22 min that you identified as an Oak is actually an Ash.

Looks like our wisconsin trees! First was ash others are big basswoods. Always hollow butts!
Well buckin your a natural ham , and your buckin good at it , always enjoy your chatter , 🐉
Those shagbarks at the end of this were in a strange location . they normally live near water or low land . You was wanting to know about the Pin oak . From North Western Illinois , keeping you tuned in .
that stand of timber at the end is a lot like what we get here in ireland, same in england id say
Something to check off your bucket list

Nice to see you cutting some hardwoods....guess it's a bit different from what you are used to back in Vanc. Island...Can't help you on the species though...haven't got a clue what we are looking at, we don't have trees like that here, at least not native trees. By the way, welcome to all new soldiers comin' in lately...hope you enjoy the ride :)
