We loved watching you two lovely people hike across the Cotswold Way, on Mark from the States' channel and winced with you when we realised how blistered your feet were and, then, how your hips hurt. What a heroine you were to carry on! AND you kept your lovely smile. You could hire a narrowboat and journey along some of the MANY canals that criss-cross the country. Tie up at a local pub, visit places around each stop. Eat out or cook on the boat. Take the dog too. Make your way to Wales, the Peak District. The English had many canals dug in the seventeen hundreds to early eighteen hundreds to carry goods from one place to another and to ports. We have more canals now than Venice. The digging had to stop when we invented railways. The canals fell into disrepair, but back in the seventies people came together to work to make the canals viable again. Check them out on YT. It's just a suggestion and, remember, you were lucky here with the weather! Just saying 😉
Having a beer in a pub at lunch is, technically speaking, research, and one should never pass up an opportunity to expand one's knowledge! These vids have brought back memories of a family cycling holiday up and down those hills!

You two are in the best years of your lives!, you have the finest of possessions anyone could have, namely, an obviously great relationship together and an enjoyable life I am sure. You both gave your bodies (feet etc..) a thorough “shakedown” to use a navy expression, and any problems of any sort of worrying nature would surely have manifested themselves, but happily you both have passed that test in fine style. I think the reason that the video of your trip was so successful, is because it was genuine. Your struggles with blisters and the heat were so obvious and relatable to anyone who has done any walking that we all felt sorry for you, yet we were willing you on and so pleased that you made it through. Your obvious love of the countryside, the villages, the pubs and the people shone through and let’s face it, who doesn’t enjoy visitors to our country, enjoying themselves. However, I think the one thing that endeared you to us was your obvious affection towards each other. You both seem such genuinely nice people and it shone through. Thank you and good luck for your next adventure, wherever that may be.
If and when you did go back to England you might want to try Canal boating. It's another way to see the English countryside and you don't get blisters.
I’m not sure what I was watching that diverted me to your channel, but I’ve just binge-watched your whole journey through the Cotswolds and it was epic. I’m old and can’t walk myself (childhood polio), but I honestly felt like I was tagging along, bringing up the rear, sharing the sunshine, smelling the breeze, marvelling at the glorious views, gobsmacked by the outstanding weather, picking blackberries, collapsing into pretty pubs that were happy to see you in all your glowing sweatiness, bonding with complete strangers and enjoying the ‘dreadful’ English food that we’re renowned for. I may not have blisters on my feet, but I seem to have developed corns on my sofa-bound butt instead to mark the experience! Incidentally, I do hope you realise you crossed a line, Ben. Without any hesitation whatsoever you actually said Sorry to those sheep for disturbing them!!! 😮😂 That one word fully justifies your new status as an honorary Englishman. Welcome to the club.🇬🇧👍 Once you’ve taken care of your home-grown adventure, whatever it may be, come again, maybe do the trail backwards starting at Bath and add a few extra days for socialising with the friends you made along the way first time round. Just drop in and make yourselves at home. We’ll be glad to see you both. ❤❤

Suggestion: If you return to England, a possible challenge would be to hire a narrow boat for a week or so. There are companies that will help you with boat hire, training and itinerary just like for the walk you did. You will learn to handle the boat and navigate the waterway systems and locks. You don't need hotels or B&Bs as the boat is your travelling home. The camaraderie of boat people is great and you can moor in many places to see the villages and towns as well as inns and pubs along the way. The scenery is, once again, beautiful but different in character. You will always get help with operating the locks and tips for the boating lifestyle from the people you encounter. You can plan routes to take in places of historical interest and/or natural beauty. To get a flavour of the challenge you can easily find UA-cam videos of people trying it and/or living on narrow boats full time. This would not be as painful as the walk but another very different kind of challenge and you would get to see an alternative aspect of the UK countryside. As previously said, several companies offer narrowboat hire, training and itinerary planning and a huge choice of routes throughout the UK. Thanks for the very enjoyable series of videos and good luck with future adventures, wherever you may wander.

Let down a little bit by the bit in the middle. Is the challenge part really that important? Any, self selected, route offers the challenge of completing it. Ones like the Coast to Coast, West Highland Way etc. just offer better logistics. Though you can find similar services in popular areas like the Lake District & Tossachs....

You guys should move here to the UK, you'll get a MINIMUM of 5 weeks annual leave, including Bank holidays, then you can use the UK as a base to explore more of the UK and Europe....makes sense to me!!
Yup. Five and a half weeks minimum plus a lot of employers - e.g. government, local authorities, tesco - add the eight 'bank holiday' dayson top, so you're then looking at a minimum of seven weeks paid leave per year.
Just watched all your Cotswold Way vids that you tube suggested I watch. Loved them all. We live not far from there & our son is at Uni in Bath so we know lots of the places. Nice to see dear old Blighty thru the eyes of a lovely American couple. Thanks for sharing your travels with us.

So glad you both enjoyed your hike on the Cotswold way, it was a quite an achievement. The bike ride in Iowa sounds great, I have visited there many years ago, I could not believe how flat it is. One trip to consider in the UK would be the sea to sea (C to C) hike in the North of England, where you cross the country from the Atlantic to the North Sea, the Lake district has some great hikes too.
I very much enjoyed your adventure through my local area! The important thing to decide is what you want to drink! If you fancy Guinness, next time walk, bike or canal boat in Ireland! If you fancy cider and galettes, there are footpaths right around Brittany with spectacular coastal views, and luggage tranfer services, or if you like it flat, and fancy wine, you can now start in the Gare de Nord in Paris, and walk along the Seine to the coast. PS I loathe Mont St Michelle, so I personally would avoid that.

I haven't done these but I have them on my list: Centennial Trail A 125-mile trail through the Black Hills National Forest that connects Bear Butte State Park to Wind Cave National Park. It's a moderate trail that can be completed in 5-8 days, and is best hiked in the spring through fall. OR: George S. Mickelson Trail A 109-mile trail through the Black Hills that was formerly a rail line. It has over 100 railroad bridges and four tunnels, and is primarily paved with crushed limestone and gravel. A lot of people ride bikes on this trail.
Pint of cider at lunch is key to long distance walks! Powers you through the afternoon and so refreshing!! I’m walking the south west coastal path (you’d love it) and pubs are part of the fun!

Hi guys I'm from the UK I loved watching your adventure along the Cotswold Way, you passed through Wotton under edge were I grew up❤. So my suggestion for your next hiking trip in the UK is the Coast to Coast walk which is from St bees which is on the west coast to Robin hoods Bay which is on the east coast its 182 miles. Next year me and Jo are walking the oldest walk way in the UK it's called the Ridgeway walk. Anyway have fun on your next big adventure. Mike Harvey

Found these videos of the Cotswold Way by chance and we have enjoyed watching all of them. Walking in the English countryside on a warm sunny day and stopping for a pint in some random pub is undoubtedly one of life's pleasures. You should try the Hadrians wall path 84 miles long across the top of Northern England built by the Romans to keep the northern tribes out. Starts on the west coast and ends in Newcastle. Lot's of nature and history plenty of pubs and the friendliest people in the Uk 🇬🇧
Last couple of suggestions! I am getting excited thinking about all the great things you guys can do, with your great attitude! But here are a couple: Boating in the Norfolk Broads. Only a few hundred pounds to hire a boat, no experience necessary, so accomodation is there, for you and another couple if you want, not in the summer school holidays is the best time as it is less crowded. Seriously beautiful, and you can moor up at many of the pubs for your lunchtime/evening pint and food! Around two and a half hours from Heathrow if you hire a car, around 5 hours by public transport. Boating in the Netherlands, again no experience needed, and easier than canals in the UK as there are lockeepers. Try to go in the spring. For boating, there will of course be loads of stuff in the US, so you could try it for a weekend, which would be better timewise. Hope you guys have such a great time doing whatever!

I walked the South Downs way, and part of the Pembrokeshire coastal path many years ago, but now I just have to hitch a lift from you two! The broads boats ain't narrow, they don't need to be, they are low for the bridges. It is way easier than the locks on a canal, but in your circumstances I would try fooling around on a boat somewhere accessible to you for a weekend first - you might catch the bug, and you don't get blisters on the feet, just the occasional rope burn! ;-) But google boat hire, Norfolk Broads, with Wroxham being the epicenter
We are hiking the Cotswold Way in May and I’m really glad we came across these videos. You should consider Iceland for a hiking/driving trip, it’s similar. You rent a car and drive the Ring Road, but you can get the B&B’s set up for you as well as an itinerary for each day. It’s only a 5 hr flight from D.C. Happy travels, and thanks!

In the USA, how about parts of the most interesting/scenic sections of The Appalachian Trail? Or maybe a kayak trip down part of The Mississippi? I found you guys through Mark and I just wanted to say thank you for filming your journey and sharing. I live not too far away from some of your journey and yet I find myself travelling to other parts of the UK a lot for the sights and forget that there are beautiful places right on my doorstep but it sometimes takes someone elses eyes to see what is right in front of you so I will definitely do more exploring closer to home. For me the greatest thing was how real it was and I think it was special to see that it wasn't easy and that despite the struggle you kept pushing and more importantly you didn't let it ruin your journey.

Just found your channel today and watched the whole Cotswold Way series in one go, absolutely fantastic you're both naturals behind the camera and I can see this channel taking off in a big way. Another similar distanced walk in the UK is the coast-to-coast along Hadrains Wall.
I think that, if you can come to the UK again, you're ready for a week or so on a canal barge chugging gently along the waterways of the canal network, between pubs :)
A wonderful series to watch , 102 miles of aches and pains , that disappear with every pub visit =-). We also have much longer walks , like the Coast to Coast , which is 200 miles. Anyway , you enjoy your memories , and occasionally think back when you have the time ,and give a little grin =-)
Congratulations! My hubs and I are currently researching our next walk, as we agree once done, you discover it’s simply THE best way to travel! We are fellow Americans and we walked the Coastal Portuguese Route of the Camino De Santiago in 2021, roughly 240km up the coast to end at the beautiful cathedral in Santiago Spain. Absolutely epic…and day drinking is entirely essential!! We sat here nodding our heads emphatically at your comments about it! We are researching the Cotswold Way for later this spring, and appreciated your videos. We are a couple of decades your elders by the looks of it. We are working toward a creative, quasi-middle retirement to get some more travel in before we are too old to do it comfortably. We have many canals in the uk i watched an American couple travel on a barge just the two of them they had a great time maybe have a go at that one day
That was a wonderful trip, thoroughly enjoyed going along with you. Your videos are so well made, just the right length, excellent editing, and I'll watch anything else you do, wherever you do it. Re the drinking: we live in the Cotswolds, we do a whole-day hike once a week, all of it centered around pubs. And after expending all that energy, you NEED a pint. And you walk it all off again anyway.

Yoy can live on board and travel the canals stoppi g at many watering holes on the way. Operate the lock systems and check out the scenic sites on your way. I am from the south east of England but I am not going to suggest a trip in England. We used to have a two week cycling holiday each year when we lived in Switzerland for 10 years. Our best ride was from Passat to Vienna along the Danube. There is a cycle tour company at Scharding at the start. Fly into Vienna, rail to Scharding, pick up the bikes, do the ride, make sure one of your stops is at Durnstein, spend at least two days in Vienna, drop off the bikes, fly out of Vienna. Second best ride was from Bolzano in northern Italy to Venice. Happy journeys.
Lovely so nice to see you hiking my back yard. The Carpenters is one of my locals. Have walked most of the cotswold way at one time or another, just not from begining to end.😂 P.S. you missed out way too many good pubs, and there is never a last hill in the cotswolds😅
You might look at Hadrian’s Way from Tynemouth on the North Sea to Wallsend on the Irish Sea along Hadrian’s Wall. Also consider the South Downs Way from Winchester to Eastbourne. Both are a similar distance - 100 miles.

I think you would love a trip on the canals of England, which would give you a beginning and end point - there are several companies in the UK who will organise the hire of the boat and your itinerary. If you are doing a walk in the English countryside, then a couple of pints in a pub at lunchtime is simply all part of the pleasure and the experience. I used to do a lot of long one day hikes in the UK, and we would always plan it around a pub at lunch. It can only have been some Americans who think it's some sort of sin. Is this a hangover from prohibition or something? I should add, that for balance, there are long distance walks in the UK where it's not even an option in many cases. Do the coast-to-coast (highly recommended) or the Highland Way, and for most of the walk there simply isn't a convenient lunchtime stop of any sort. However, the Cotswold way isn't that sort of walk; it's more like a number of day walks between villages and small towns, not a step into the wilderness. Incidentally, those classic full English breakfasts can power you for 20 mile sections over the Lake District or Yorkshire Dales with just the odd snack bar on the types of walks where there is not a convenient lunchtime stop. I would also add, that you were blessed with super weather. Whilst it's not as rare as some suppose, it's also completely unpredictable. A soaking wet, long walk is a very different thing to those days with sunshine. Be prepared, and on some routes, like the Coast-to-coast some very wet days are virtually guaranteed. I would also say, never, attempt a long, multi-day walk without some preparation. You don't need to be super-fit, but you do need stamina, and something to harden up the feet. If you don't, then I can almost guarantee about 2 days in, you will feel awful if you are doing 10+ miles in a day. Your legs will ache, your feet will be a mess and it can turn what is meant to be enjoyable into a painful ordeal. You will get fitter on the trip, but you don't want to wait until day 6 before you feel really good again. Also, the best form of that getting into shape is to do some walking, preferably of the same sort of distance and type of ground that you are planning for. It's not necessary to do day after day, but you want to get into the shape where you would not feel awful after a full day walking. Of course, it's easy for somebody like me in that I can walk out my door into the Cotswolds, albeit in Oxfordshire, and there are dozens of footpaths over the hills, not something available in somewhere like Florida, but don't go into it without some preparation.
If you are looking in the states, I recommend Acacia national park in Maine and Ragbrie is excellent in Iowa. As for another country I would recommend Ireland. We did the first two days of Cotswold and left at Winchcombe. We are going back to do all 102 miles. Thank you for the tour. BEst vacation of mine and wifes lives.
Marvellous mini series. I felt for you with your blisters. What helped me on hikes were a pair of hiking poles. Takes the stress off your hips.and knees.
I always love the tomato but what I do not like are the baked beans. I am a pensioner now but when I was growing up nobody put baked beans with English breakfast. It is not traditional and I do not like it.
@@valeriedavidson2785 Yeah. Baked Beans on a breakfast can be a divisive. I’ll take extra beans personally. But definitely think the most likely thing to be left on the plate is the grilled tomato. 🍅

It was a treat to watch your walk and the views from a hiking perspective, you were definitely lucky with the weather, how much different the hike would have been a couple of weeks later in the rain and wind.
You 2 should try a similar walk in the Lake District, North West England, I know you like the scenery on the Cotswold Way, but try the English Lake District, if you think the Cotswold Way was awesome, your comments on the Lake District would be MEGA awesome........... Thanks for the great videos, you might think about hiring a narrowboat and traveling around the 4,700 miles of canals that crisscross the English countryside, you can tie the boat up anywhere for free each night ( best to be near a pub, there are many on the canals) you can decide where to go, and stop when you like and go exploring. You sleep on the boat which is equipped with a cooker, shower, fridge, etc. There are several companies online that will arrange the hire for you. There are also a number of vlogs on Utube to give you an idea of what it's like.
You should put a link for the company you used over here, glad you enjoyed a small part of the UK, if you did this walk again I'd suggest longer as you were going through some very historical places, and very near King Charles private home, where the gardens are open to the public near the village of Tetbury and his sister Princess Anne not very far away, along with Broadway and many other small towns and villages, also glad you enjoyed Mark From The States reaction to your trip

I think the reason that the video of your trip was so successful, is because it was genuine. Your struggles with blisters and the heat were so obvious and relatable to anyone who has done any walking that we all felt sorry for you, yet we were willing you on and so pleased that you made it through.
Your obvious love of the countryside, the villages, the pubs and the people shone through and let’s face it, who doesn’t enjoy visitors to our country, enjoying themselves.
However, I think the one thing that endeared you to us was your obvious affection towards each other. You both seem such genuinely nice people and it shone through.

Camino de Santiago Pilgrimage (Spain/Portugal) is pretty epic too.
If and when you did go back to England you might want to try Canal boating. It's another way to see the English countryside and you don't get blisters.
I’m not sure what I was watching that diverted me to your channel, but I’ve just binge-watched your whole journey through the Cotswolds and it was epic. I’m old and can’t walk myself (childhood polio), but I honestly felt like I was tagging along, bringing up the rear, sharing the sunshine, smelling the breeze, marvelling at the glorious views, gobsmacked by the outstanding weather, picking blackberries, collapsing into pretty pubs that were happy to see you in all your glowing sweatiness, bonding with complete strangers and enjoying the ‘dreadful’ English food that we’re renowned for. I may not have blisters on my feet, but I seem to have developed corns on my sofa-bound butt instead to mark the experience!
Incidentally, I do hope you realise you crossed a line, Ben. Without any hesitation whatsoever you actually said Sorry to those sheep for disturbing them!!! 😮😂 That one word fully justifies your new status as an honorary Englishman. Welcome to the club.🇬🇧👍
Once you’ve taken care of your home-grown adventure, whatever it may be, come again, maybe do the trail backwards starting at Bath and add a few extra days for socialising with the friends you made along the way first time round. Just drop in and make yourselves at home. We’ll be glad to see you both. ❤❤

Suggestion:
If you return to England, a possible challenge would be to hire a narrow boat for a week or so. There are companies that will help you with boat hire, training and itinerary just like for the walk you did. You will learn to handle the boat and navigate the waterway systems and locks. You don't need hotels or B&Bs as the boat is your travelling home.
The camaraderie of boat people is great and you can moor in many places to see the villages and towns as well as inns and pubs along the way.
The scenery is, once again, beautiful but different in character. You will always get help with operating the locks and tips for the boating lifestyle from the people you encounter. You can plan routes to take in places of historical interest and/or natural beauty.
To get a flavour of the challenge you can easily find UA-cam videos of people trying it and/or living on narrow boats full time.
This would not be as painful as the walk but another very different kind of challenge and you would get to see an alternative aspect of the UK countryside.
As previously said, several companies offer narrowboat hire, training and itinerary planning and a huge choice of routes throughout the UK.

Is the challenge part really that important?
Any, self selected, route offers the challenge of completing it. Ones like the Coast to Coast, West Highland Way etc. just offer better logistics. Though you can find similar services in popular areas like the Lake District & Tossachs....

You guys should move here to the UK, you'll get a MINIMUM of 5 weeks annual leave, including Bank holidays, then you can use the UK as a base to explore more of the UK and Europe....makes sense to me!!
Yup. Five and a half weeks minimum plus a lot of employers - e.g. government, local authorities, tesco - add the eight 'bank holiday' dayson top, so you're then looking at a minimum of seven weeks paid leave per year.

So glad you both enjoyed your hike on the Cotswold way, it was a quite an achievement. The bike ride in Iowa sounds great, I have visited there many years ago, I could not believe how flat it is. One trip to consider in the UK would be the sea to sea (C to C) hike in the North of England, where you cross the country from the Atlantic to the North Sea, the Lake district has some great hikes too.
I very much enjoyed your adventure through my local area! The important thing to decide is what you want to drink!
If you fancy Guinness, next time walk, bike or canal boat in Ireland!
If you fancy cider and galettes, there are footpaths right around Brittany with spectacular coastal views, and luggage tranfer services, or if you like it flat, and fancy wine, you can now start in the Gare de Nord in Paris, and walk along the Seine to the coast.
PS I loathe Mont St Michelle, so I personally would avoid that.

A 125-mile trail through the Black Hills National Forest that connects Bear Butte State Park to Wind Cave National Park. It's a moderate trail that can be completed in 5-8 days, and is best hiked in the spring through fall. OR: George S. Mickelson Trail
A 109-mile trail through the Black Hills that was formerly a rail line. It has over 100 railroad bridges and four tunnels, and is primarily paved with crushed limestone and gravel. A lot of people ride bikes on this trail.
Pint of cider at lunch is key to long distance walks! Powers you through the afternoon and so refreshing!! I’m walking the south west coastal path (you’d love it) and pubs are part of the fun!

Hi guys I'm from the UK I loved watching your adventure along the Cotswold Way, you passed through Wotton under edge were I grew up❤. So my suggestion for your next hiking trip in the UK is the Coast to Coast walk which is from St bees which is on the west coast to Robin hoods Bay which is on the east coast its 182 miles. Next year me and Jo are walking the oldest walk way in the UK it's called the Ridgeway walk. Anyway have fun on your next big adventure.

Brilliant! Challenging in a different way but probably no blisters.
You should try the Hadrians wall path 84 miles long across the top of Northern England built by the Romans to keep the northern tribes out. Starts on the west coast and ends in Newcastle. Lot's of nature and history plenty of pubs and the friendliest people in the Uk 🇬🇧

Last couple of suggestions! I am getting excited thinking about all the great things you guys can do, with your great attitude! But here are a couple: Boating in the Norfolk Broads. Only a few hundred pounds to hire a boat, no experience necessary, so accomodation is there, for you and another couple if you want, not in the summer school holidays is the best time as it is less crowded. Seriously beautiful, and you can moor up at many of the pubs for your lunchtime/evening pint and food!
Around two and a half hours from Heathrow if you hire a car, around 5 hours by public transport.
Boating in the Netherlands, again no experience needed, and easier than canals in the UK as there are lockeepers. Try to go in the spring.
For boating, there will of course be loads of stuff in the US, so you could try it for a weekend, which would be better timewise.
Hope you guys have such a great time doing whatever!

I walked the South Downs way, and part of the Pembrokeshire coastal path many years ago, but now I just have to hitch a lift from you two!
The broads boats ain't narrow, they don't need to be, they are low for the bridges.
It is way easier than the locks on a canal, but in your circumstances I would try fooling around on a boat somewhere accessible to you for a weekend first - you might catch the bug, and you don't get blisters on the feet, just the occasional rope burn! ;-)

We are hiking the Cotswold Way in May and I’m really glad we came across these videos. You should consider Iceland for a hiking/driving trip, it’s similar. You rent a car and drive the Ring Road, but you can get the B&B’s set up for you as well as an itinerary for each day. It’s only a 5 hr flight from D.C. Happy travels, and thanks!

I found you guys through Mark and I just wanted to say thank you for filming your journey and sharing. I live not too far away from some of your journey and yet I find myself travelling to other parts of the UK a lot for the sights and forget that there are beautiful places right on my doorstep but it sometimes takes someone elses eyes to see what is right in front of you so I will definitely do more exploring closer to home. For me the greatest thing was how real it was and I think it was special to see that it wasn't easy and that despite the struggle you kept pushing and more importantly you didn't let it ruin your journey.

Just found your channel today and watched the whole Cotswold Way series in one go, absolutely fantastic you're both naturals behind the camera and I can see this channel taking off in a big way. Another similar distanced walk in the UK is the coast-to-coast along Hadrains Wall.

A wonderful series to watch , 102 miles of aches and pains , that disappear with every pub visit =-). We also have much longer walks , like the Coast to Coast , which is 200 miles. Anyway , you enjoy your memories , and occasionally think back when you have the time ,and give a little grin =-)

Congratulations! My hubs and I are currently researching our next walk, as we agree once done, you discover it’s simply THE best way to travel! We are fellow Americans and we walked the Coastal Portuguese Route of the Camino De Santiago in 2021, roughly 240km up the coast to end at the beautiful cathedral in Santiago Spain. Absolutely epic…and day drinking is entirely essential!! We sat here nodding our heads emphatically at your comments about it! We are researching the Cotswold Way for later this spring, and appreciated your videos. We are a couple of decades your elders by the looks of it. We are working toward a creative, quasi-middle retirement to get some more travel in before we are too old to do it comfortably. Good luck finding something stateside that will tick your boxes…peep The Camino Routes for your future calendar though. Cheers!
We have many canals in the uk i watched an American couple travel on a barge just the two of them they had a great time maybe have a go at that one day

That was a wonderful trip, thoroughly enjoyed going along with you. Your videos are so well made, just the right length, excellent editing, and I'll watch anything else you do, wherever you do it. Re the drinking: we live in the Cotswolds, we do a whole-day hike once a week, all of it centered around pubs. And after expending all that energy, you NEED a pint. And you walk it all off again anyway.

Yoy can live on board and travel the canals stoppi g at many watering holes on the way. Operate the lock systems and check out the scenic sites on your way. I am from the south east of England but I am not going to suggest a trip in England. We used to have a two week cycling holiday each year when we lived in Switzerland for 10 years. Our best ride was from Passat to Vienna along the Danube. There is a cycle tour company at Scharding at the start. Fly into Vienna, rail to Scharding, pick up the bikes, do the ride, make sure one of your stops is at Durnstein, spend at least two days in Vienna, drop off the bikes, fly out of Vienna. Second best ride was from Bolzano in northern Italy to Venice. Happy journeys.

You might look at Hadrian’s Way from Tynemouth on the North Sea to Wallsend on the Irish Sea along Hadrian’s Wall. Also consider the South Downs Way from Winchester to Eastbourne. Both are a similar distance - 100 miles.

A Brit here; many years ago I did a hike through Yosemite (best in June/July). Stunning scenery and a trip I will never forget (not many pubs though).

If you are doing a walk in the English countryside, then a couple of pints in a pub at lunchtime is simply all part of the pleasure and the experience. I used to do a lot of long one day hikes in the UK, and we would always plan it around a pub at lunch. It can only have been some Americans who think it's some sort of sin. Is this a hangover from prohibition or something?
I should add, that for balance, there are long distance walks in the UK where it's not even an option in many cases. Do the coast-to-coast (highly recommended) or the Highland Way, and for most of the walk there simply isn't a convenient lunchtime stop of any sort. However, the Cotswold way isn't that sort of walk; it's more like a number of day walks between villages and small towns, not a step into the wilderness.
Incidentally, those classic full English breakfasts can power you for 20 mile sections over the Lake District or Yorkshire Dales with just the odd snack bar on the types of walks where there is not a convenient lunchtime stop.
I would also add, that you were blessed with super weather. Whilst it's not as rare as some suppose, it's also completely unpredictable. A soaking wet, long walk is a very different thing to those days with sunshine. Be prepared, and on some routes, like the Coast-to-coast some very wet days are virtually guaranteed. I would also say, never, attempt a long, multi-day walk without some preparation. You don't need to be super-fit, but you do need stamina, and something to harden up the feet. If you don't, then I can almost guarantee about 2 days in, you will feel awful if you are doing 10+ miles in a day. Your legs will ache, your feet will be a mess and it can turn what is meant to be enjoyable into a painful ordeal. You will get fitter on the trip, but you don't want to wait until day 6 before you feel really good again. Also, the best form of that getting into shape is to do some walking, preferably of the same sort of distance and type of ground that you are planning for. It's not necessary to do day after day, but you want to get into the shape where you would not feel awful after a full day walking. Of course, it's easy for somebody like me in that I can walk out my door into the Cotswolds, albeit in Oxfordshire, and there are dozens of footpaths over the hills, not something available in somewhere like Florida, but don't go into it without some preparation.
If you are looking in the states, I recommend Acacia national park in Maine and Ragbrie is excellent in Iowa. As for another country I would recommend Ireland. We did the first two days of Cotswold and left at Winchcombe. We are going back to do all 102 miles. Thank you for the tour. BEst vacation of mine and wifes lives.

Marvellous mini series. I felt for you with your blisters. What helped me on hikes were a pair of hiking poles. Takes the stress off your hips.and knees.

I always love the tomato but what I do not like are the baked beans. I am a pensioner now but when I was growing up nobody put baked beans with English breakfast. It is not traditional and I do not like it.
@@valeriedavidson2785 Yeah. Baked Beans on a breakfast can be a divisive. I’ll take extra beans personally. But definitely think the most likely thing to be left on the plate is the grilled tomato. 🍅

You 2 should try a similar walk in the Lake District, North West England, I know you like the scenery on the Cotswold Way, but try the English Lake District, if you think the Cotswold Way was awesome, your comments on the Lake District would be MEGA awesome........... I am only an hour and a half away!!!! ❤
Love the Lake District, but the weather is not great compared to the Cotswolds.

Thanks for the great videos, you might think about hiring a narrowboat and traveling around the 4,700 miles of canals that crisscross the English countryside, you can tie the boat up anywhere for free each night ( best to be near a pub, there are many on the canals) you can decide where to go, and stop when you like and go exploring. You sleep on the boat which is equipped with a cooker, shower, fridge, etc. There are several companies online that will arrange the hire for you. There are also a number of vlogs on Utube to give you an idea of what it's like.
We've been thinking about a narrowboat for our next adventure! Would be a challenge indeed, ha!
