Thanks a lot for the tutorial, it is a great looking model! Just got the Stormcast Eternal starting paint set and looking forward to apply some techniques you shown!
Hey great video, just picked up my first Age of Sigmar set and I'm keen to get painting. Also, do I detect a little Welsh accent in there? Either way, greetings from South Wales :D
Great tutorial again! Mortal Realms magazine has just shown up in Australia so this will keep the kids and I busy as long as we can keep sneaking the magazines past Mum.
Hope you make tutorial for other stormhost and just for dragons in generals (really excited about the Stormdrake guard), you are my favourite painting tutorial channel
Thanks for this tutorial, it's great. Can I quickly ask - if you used the Retributor Armour spray first, would you need to base the non-gold areas with black over that or would you paint the blue, etc. straight onto the gold spray?
Do you prefer nuln oil over dryad bark for leather or a more tannish color with agrax earthshade for leather? Like I typically like snakebite leather from valejo with the brown wash for my weather but its nice to have options for leather. I have also used your technique/recipe for black leather on my waywatchers and it worked GREAT!
Hey Jason thanks for the comment! I think Agrax over Dryad Bark wouldn't have too much effect. I think it's nice to have a range of leather colours - my favourite currently is rhinox hide, doombull brown and skrag brown for a nice reddy brown colour
@@ThePaintingCoach Thank you for answering. I look forward to your videos every week. I get upset sometimes when its Wednesday and I remember you just uploaded one on Sunday. I have taken a lot of your techniques/recipes and used them on my miniatures. I especially like your black leather.
Hi, thank you for the great tutorial. I'm considering getting into the hobby of painting minis and planning to either buy stormcast eternals (if I decided for Aos) or a Middle Earth SBG army to start. In a lot of tutorials I see people priming in black they adding a quick white spray on top. Would you encourage a beginner to try this technique?
Hi - thanks for the comment! Yes I would - the technique is called zenithal priming and it helps you figure out where the light will be - it isn't essential but I do use it on a lot of my models - check some of my other tutorials to see - I did one for rangers of gondor the same 👍🏻
Just finished my 1st ever mini using your guide. thank you so much. I wasn't able to create the same level of detail as you on the guide (still lack a ton of painting skills), but ended up with a nice looking mini in my opinion. I have couple other stormcaster eternal minis to paint and I intend to replicate the same color scheme and techniques.. My "long-term" goal is to paint the miniatures I have from a board game I love, but i would feel terrible if they don't look amazing in the end so I need some practice. thanks again for this video.
Thanks Stephanie - yes this is an old bottle stopper cork, with some blu-tac to hold the mini on - these days I use a proper handle either from redgrass game or cobalt keep depending on the mini!
@@ThePaintingCoach Wonderful, I think I must find a good handle, I don't like holding models by the base at all. Also, what do you think of Vallejo paint? I found a kit that has 40 colours in dropper bottles for $120 AUD. Do you think they are good priced for what you get? Bit of background, I just started getting warhammer mortal realms, and I need some paints:D
No problem - what about the paints that come with Mortal Realms? Or do you want to paint it all up before all the colours go? In the UK Vallejo is cheaper than GW and the paint is fine - works really well - I'm not sure about their gold colours though as I have never used them - are these Game Color you're talking about?
@@ThePaintingCoach Yeah some issues come with citadel paints, but they seems very expensive to get a whole bunch of colours. I guess I'm just wondering if you think Vallejo is a good company. Gamesworkshop prices in Australia are so much. I want to avoid if I can. But maybe get some metallic colours from GW if you think the gold is bad?
Here's my first Age of Sigmar Tutorial and what else - a Stormcast Eternal! What other factions would you like to see?!
Keep up the good work! One vote for a Daughters of Khaine tutorial in future.
Cheers Robert - if I can get my hands on some we will see!
Mangler Squig!
If i can get hold of one....
Would definitely love to see you do the great gnashtoof from the new dominion box. I'm looking forward to painting it but it's quite daunting 😅

Thanks for the feedback! Good luck with your stormcast!

Thanks! Yes you do - a very Welsh accent on occasion! More South West 👍🏻

Haha great stuff - good to know ut's started over there!
great video, i've been struggling with the robes for ages!
Thanks Tom - I appreciate it!

Thanks Jono!

Thanks - I would go straight over it, although you may need to wash over it first to provide a matt finish and help the paint adhere
Great stuff..keep up the good work.
It would be good to see perhaps a split screen of your palette??
Thanks for the comment! I've just managed to source another camera - so going forward I hope to have palette and painting in both shots!
very helpful!
Glad you found it useful!
thank you
My pleasure! Hope it helps!

Thank you - that means a lot! It's just weekly for now - I'll see about going to twice a week in the future :)
Good work, if you can tell how to do the base for mini plase
Thanks! Off the top of my head it was simple contrast paints like basilicanum grey and militarum green

Awesome - glad the video helped - as long as you are happy, that's the main thing!
I like the painting, what are you using to hold the model, is it like a cork or something?

Vallejo is a great company and their paints are good - I just can't comment on the gold as I've never used it :)
do you use the gloss or shade for the nuln oil and reikland`?
No just the normal shade
i found out that if you use shade paint all the entire gold armor it will dull the shinning down so i chose only shade the recesses
Good option
The stray hair on the brush is driving me nuts
Me too - it has promptly been retired!
